Running Away

"Who does she think she is? Why would the Prince want such a pathetic wife? Take her to the cell, no food or water, when the Prince leaves she will get her punishment then." I could hear Mother and the maids talking. The back of my neck and head hurt but I dare not move till I am alone. I kept my eyes closed and drifted off to sleep. 

"My child, do not be afraid you are stronger than you think," whispered a woman's voice. "I am not your child, your child died and I was sent from the future to live in this body," I said. A slight chuckle from the voice. "Yes my daughter passed on and now is with me but you carry the bloodline from me and for that, you are my child. The body is just a body, yet your soul is what makes you strong. You decided not to die so your soul went back and gave life to my daughter's vessel. Listen, I don't have much time. You are strong, you can heal those around you, don't let the darkness taken in for when all hope is lost. Remember that even the darkest soul can be saved. Please live on and be strong" the voice said before fading away. 

My mind is spinning and the pain I have makes me feel like throwing up. I wake up and start looking around. I'm in a cell, it's cold, dirty, there is just damped hay and rusted iron all around me. I feel lost, the voice said I'm strong yet look at me. I am in just a shirt cold and hurting. The Prince said I wouldn't be hurt yet here I am. He lied to me. I sat with my knees to my chest as I hold them and place my head down. I began to cry hard. My heart broke because today is the day he finds his wife and he said he would protect me yet look at me I am in filth exactly where I am supposed to be. No, I won't, I am supposed to be strong. I began to wobble as I stand up.  Felt dizzy yet I know I needed to get out if not then I know death will be next. I won't allow that to happen. I start to look around messing with the bars to see if there is any way out to my luck there was nothing. I started to move the damped hey and found nothing. Yet looking out the cell wall I saw a nearby tree. I reached for the branch nearby. I can use this as a weapon or as a tool to get the door open. Yet I was too short to reach. How am I going to get out of here? Just then I heard a maid coming by I laid back down as if I was still out. I heard the footsteps get close to the doorway. "Miss, Miss" a slight whisper came from her mouth. 

I jolted to look up as I notice its the same woman that gave me water. "It's you," I said thanking her. She nodded and then unlocked the gate. "Wait won't this get you into trouble?" 

"You are the future to our survival, the Prince is about to choose his bride, if you don't leave now you will be killed. Do not worry about us just be safe and please don't let others find out who you are. For if you do they will bring you back and your punishment will be death." she said with so much fear. 

"What happened if they find out you set me free" I question her with tears in my eyes. 

"I accept my fate the day I gave you water. We all just kept our head down, we accepted didn't help when you needed it the most. I lost everyone so I don't want to lose you. I was your mother's handmaiden. I looked after you from time to time when you were smaller. Yet when she got sick she knew that I may get killed so she told me to leave. I stayed in the kingdom and watched as your father went mad and then married again. He once loved you but now with a bitter heart and the fact you look like your mother he hates you. Your new mother wants you dead and now her daughters want the same. You are a threat to them and for that, you would be killed. I don't want that so live for me please." she said with tears in her eyes. "Your mother once said to me you will bring the light to the darkness" I never understood what she meant but now I do" you give me please and for that, I accept my fate," she said cupping my teary cheek. 

I nodded and got up. She had a bag full of things for me. I thanked her and hugged her. I then ran off hiding behind the building trying to find the hole in the wall that I knew was there when I was little. I looked back to see her waving goodbye before walking off. My heart broke as I looked at the home I once known. My heart tore as I thought the Prince had something for me. Tears kept rolling as I squeezed through the hole in the wall. I waited in the tall grass making sure it was clear for when I could run past and out into the forest. 

Prince POV 

I couldn't get her out of my head. When our eyes met her beauty shined through. I could tell she was of noble blood by her grace. Even the way she placed her hands. I wanted to touch her, to kiss her and make her mine. She warned me that she was pure and that alone made me happy to hear. She was frightened by me yet her body trembled with joy by my touch. She enjoyed what I did with her very much and probably wanted more if her body would allow her. It hurt me so to see that her perfect body was covered in marks and bruises. Not only did they not heal well but there were old ones under the new ones. Which means she has been punished in the past. For what though? I called a maid to me to bring the Head maid to me before I went to meet the brides to be. I needed to know more about her. If she is of noble then I would marry her if she isn't then I have to make her a concubine. So she can be still mine. 

"Yes my Prince how may I help you," the head maid said not making eye contact as she bowed. 

"I am sorry for earlier but I must know who was the beauty that was in my courters today. Is she of noble blood?" I questioned her. 

"I am sorry my Prince but she isn't of noble blood she is just a handmaid to the two princesses that you will choose to be yours. Her mother died a long time ago and her father is unknown. She is punished often due to her mistakes. She tends to be a handful and very disrespectful" she said.

Her words anger me. "Tell me why is she dressed as a noble one," I said catching her off guard.

"You see sir, the Princesses want their handmaid to look her part. As well as good for the Prince. I only look how my Master wants me." she said saving herself from my other questions. 

"I see, will you have her stay in my chambers till I get done. I will have her be my concubine. She will be mine regardless of being Noble or not." I said to her. She nods and walks toward my room. 

I then head out to meet my future bride. I can't wait to play with you again my little one.
