Around the Same Time
Daniel Mendoza arrived home early after spending most of the day in a mediation in downtown Phoenix. The hour-long drive home was exhausting. Daniel was hungry, having not eaten anything for lunch. The mediator believed that empty stomachs made the parties eager to settle. However, that wasn’t the case. Empty stomachs made people irritable and ornery and, in Daniel’s experience, unlikely to compromise and resolve the litigation. That’s exactly what happened. With no resolution, the parties now had to move forward with the trial and prepare for the consequences of having a jury decide their fate.
