The Next Morning
The door to the funicular closed and it slowly descended the incline from the cliff at the top of the El Conquistador Resort and Spa to its private marina below. A second funicular was already at the marina and began its ascent. Lush tropical trees lined both sides of the two railways where the funiculars traversed. A small group of people was inside the descending funicular observing the views, including Palominos Island which was in the far distance.
Layla and Leon embraced so as to steady themselves as the funicular descended. The incline slightly pulled them down towards the front of the funicular. Almost two-thirds of the way down, the funicular stopped, and an elderly couple exited so that they could enter their guest room
