"The Earth Goddess' Wisdom" caught Julian's eye, as much for the illustration on the cover as for the title. He picked up the small, leather-bound book and looked, bemused, at the little animals cavorting around a tree that looked much like a woman, and shook his head. He flipped through a few pages and saw similar silliness within, and quickly put the book back on its shelf.
"Do people actually buy these?" he asked.
Melanie's voice carried over his shoulder from where she sat behind her counter. "A few. People gain inspiration from many places, Julian."
He snorted and turned to look at her, not bothering to conceal his bemusement. Their eyes met, and after a moment, her serious facade cracked and she smiled a little wry smile of her own.
