Her shoe made silent taps on the terraco tiles of the school hallway as she ambled along with her hands wrapped over her stomach. She had no specific plan where her movements led her to; instead her mind tortured her with the repetition of Moni's plan.
Moni was ridiculous, she knew, but this time such a plan crossed all boundaries.
The thought of being a sneaky b***h brought her memory back to moments in elementary school when she conspired a silly prank on Kassie. Kassie hadn't taken it lightly. Since she was still too young to understand the difference between reality and fiction, she'd feared The Evil Easter Bunny so much that she'd promised never to speak to them anymore.
She surprisingly did the following day, forgetting they scared her with a photograph she hated.
Moni's plan was somehow similar to that. What did contrast her present plan to Kassie's temporary anger was the reality of this conspiracy. Her bait wasn't Kassie this time, but Drake. He was known to be often absentminded and nonchalant about everything. This brought about the need to get his signature on a document Monica promised to prepare for her.
Gina cursed herself for having such a friend. The risk of this plan was that Drake was sure to get in trouble after falling into their trap, but his parents would flare up. They had links to various mafias and goons which didn't look good for her. She foresaw her downfall.
As she walked on, almost bumping into a junior student who raced out of one of the classrooms, her eyes fell on Williams as he gathered a teacher's belongings into a cardboard box. Gazing around for a boy named 'Drake', she rushed into the empty classroom and shut the door close.
Williams eyed her in irritation. He'd quickened up his pace by getting as many books as he could.
"Williams. Let's speak, please" she pleaded, grabbing hold of his hands and stopping his movements.
"Hasn't your husband insulted me enough? I am done with this Gina". He forced his hands off her grip.
" I understand you 100 percent, Williams. I promise, I am on your side". She'd given her word.
" How does this change the fact you're married?" He sounded frustrated. " Gina, I am tired of all this. Please, just let me be. I beg of you. If only I knew you were married before giving way to deep feelings… "
" Not regrets Williams. You will make things hurt worse… "
" What else do you want me to do? You keep coming in my face despite me avoiding you. This was all you wanted, right? You remember the call?! "
Gina gazed at the door, hearing some movements. There was a brief silence for a while before she proceeded to respond.
"My mother-in-law was home. There was no way I could speak to you. She hates you enough already… "
Williams placed in the last book before getting the box shut. He'd raised the heavy cardboard box in his arms, ready to head out.
"My parents hadn't taught me to meddle in a married couple's life. Good day"
As soon as he made a short step away from the table where he'd gathered the books, Gina rudely collected the box back from him and placed it in its original position.
"You aren't leaving until we talk things out" She folded her hands boldly with a stern look.
"You're being a sassy queen now" His hands ran over his brown hair. " I thought you promised me that you wouldn't be sassy anymore? The attitude doesn't look good on you"
"You're giving me no other choice, Williams. You are at the vengeance of giving up at this moment. Am I supposed to have my arms folded at this point, giving in to defeat? No! Williams! I am not that way. If there is anything I was taught, it's to always keep my fingers crossed and never give up. That's one thing you should learn to do too if our love means anything to you" she frowned, poking him on the chest.
"It's not about me giving up. Considering the odds, I do not think we can work out. There is no need to try Gina. Those people already control your life." The box was picked up one more time.
" I know how devastated you are at this moment. This is why I have a plan. Moni came up with one and I do think it will help us out."
Williams laughed sarcastically.
"Count me out if it is Moni. I will not bother hearing this plan of hers because it would be childish."
"I thought that way too. We have no other choice, do we? The plan sounds genius if you think about it, but risky if we don't think fast. We need to give this a go, Williams, and I cannot do this without you."
She had gazed into his eyes, placing both arms on his shoulders, causing him to make a sigh.
" What's the plan?" He asked.
"Drake is our main target here. He is very risky when it comes to money. As long as you think the way he thinks, he is no more than a puppet to you. Moni's plan is to get him to sign some fake divorce papers, claiming alimony of 1 million dollars."
Williams adjusted his glasses, which got foggy.
"Why fake documents? Why not divorce him for real?"
"You still don't get it, do you? We aren't really divorcing yet. I need the document as a means of blackmailing him. His parents had me sign a contract at the age of 9 and, due to this, his family lawyer is the one who can help me out of this marriage. I cannot get across to him without Drake's help. His parents forbade me from seeing him."
" So, what you're trying to say here is that the documents do not mean anything, despite being signed? Even if we elope, you're still married to him? "
"Yes, but he wouldn't know that. He would be too stupid to realize it. After we get him to link us up to his parent's lawyer, the official divorce process begins."
He shook his head unimpressed.
" I do not like this plan, Gina. Moni is crazy, I assure you."
"It's crazy but could work out in our favour… "
" And if it doesn't, his parents will hunt us down and kill me"
Her hands motioned carefully to his smooth cheeks.
"They won't find us. We will be way ahead of them."
"Gina… "
" Please, Williams, let me help us out of this. I love you too much to lose you. If we get those documents from Moni, our plan execution begins. You need to have faith in me."
" I do not have faith in Drake… "
" Drake isn't smarter than me. I have lived with him for 7 years. I know what will make him stupid enough to sign a document without reading it". She smirked.
" What? "
" A woman". She ran her hands flirtingly on his chest.
" Will you flirt with him? That's absurd, Gina"
" There is no need for tension, Williams. He doesn't like me, so this won't yield to anything intense. We don't look each other in the eye because all we see is anger and hatred. He does flirt with every lady, right? Despite all the flirting, he keeps one lady in his life and we do know who that lady is. As far as Lizzy spun his head around, he couldn't look in any other lady's direction. That's the only good thing I can vouch for him"
Williams didn't look convinced but nodded to the plan anyway.
"Now all we need is the documents Monica has for us."
