Chapter 15, Kanika: The ship, Kanika’s ship, sat anchored in a small cove. The black cliffs loomed over the craft like an impenetrable fortress. Most vessels that plied the cracks did so with little stores of food and water. Most journeys, a vessel might pull in daily for supplies if necessary. Many only carried the barest supplies in case of emergencies. The water of the cracks would supply much of the food needed, but they still required vegetables and, more importantly, drinking water.
