26 It took Kieran longer than he anticipated to get to his friend’s house. Not only was The Angler’s Haunt farther from the spot where he had parted company with the boat then he had thought, but he got himself turned around a couple of times. He ended up walking back the way he had come for a distance before he realised his mistake. Finally, he reached the pub. At least he got close enough to see it through the trees, and things got easier after that. He exited the woods once he was sure there was no-one around to notice him and made for the road.
