CHAPTER FORTY TWO

After a month, Elena tried to accept that Dana is gone, and started to know her Mom’s whereabouts, but she found out that Dana’s Mom was died the same day that they were escaping on Raffy and his men that sadden her, but she just choose to believe that Dana and her Mom is now together and happy away from the chaotic world that they once lived in.

Elena as well asked her grandpa to find out what happened to Dana, but he told her that they already took a person to investigate it that made her atleast at ease and she was hoping that the person who did that horrible thing to Dana will be severely punish.

She was currently reading on the library where she usually spent her time to read, when Ms. Estrella approach her. Ms. Estrella had been staying with her since Dana’s funeral up until now, but today is the day that her Aunt Elle will going to get back on her own home.

“Elena, I am going.” She informed.

Elena just faced her and give her a small smile and nod. The sadness can be mirrored on her eyes as she stare at her, that made Ms. Estrella heart melted and approach Elena to scoop her into a tight hug.

She had promise that she would get back as soon as her resignation would be approved, she decided to take care of Elena more closely, and she had already talked to Mr. Vaughn about it and he approved.

For as she can see Elena is like living on her own for Mr. Vaughn can’t take care Elena that much especially when it comes to household for he is a busy for running a company that’s why she suggested it, and one of the reason is she can’t be at peace when she found out that Elena didn’t eat home cooked meal. Which is she worried the most, for eating take outs is not that healthy for her.

Ms. Estrella smiled from Elena’s reaction, for she didn’t told her the deal that she had from Mr. Vaughn about her staying with her. She is planning to surprise her, but she will actually be back later after she fixed her resignation, and another surprise for Elena will be spilled tomorrow.

“Don’t be sad, I promise to visit you more frequently.” She said consoling Elena.

“Can’t you just stay her more, Aunt Elle? I don’t want to be alone.” Elena requested like a child.

She level her face to Elena and stare at her while caressing her cheeks and smile, “I will be back without you knowing I promise.”

“For now just stay here with Ian, okay? Don’t be sad.” She said and kissed Elena on her forehead.

She left and told Ian to look Elena for Elena from time to time until she get back, for Elena is still vulnerable for losing Dana as her step cousin and a friend.

Elena, spend her time reading, until she overheard Ian’s voice talking to someone downstairs. As her curiosity kicks in, and something is screaming in her head to know what is it, nor who is it that she did.

She slowly took a path downstairs and when arrived downstairs she heard Ian cussed sounding alarmed. And seems on his way to go to her when he stilled when he saw her at standing at the side of the staircase.

She can see worriedness on Ian’s face as he snatched her arm to pull her somewhere that made Elena surprise.

“W-What is happening? Where a-are you taking me!?” Elena asked in confusion.

Ian, didn’t respond and just pulled her towards the emergency exit, but they immediately went out when they heard a countless footsteps taking the stairs towards where they are.

“Why aren’t you answering me? What is happening?!” She asked annoyed for her cluelessness.

She wants to know why Ian is acting like this and who are the owner of the footsteps that she heard heading to their floor.

“Someone sent his men to kill you, and they are here.”  Ian finally answered that made her eyes ballad out.

“Come, this way!” Ian told her as they took the path on one particular door that that was hidden a few meters from her penthouse door.

Elena gasped when Ian opened the door only to find what she think that was another emergency exit, but this time it was located outside the building and was build with steel, that made her having a full what’s on downstairs that made her knees wobble in fear as her fear of heights kicks in.

“Come one Elena, you can do it, just don’t stare down there and just stare at me.” Ian said.

 He is encouraging Elena and at the same time making her feel secure as soon as he saw Elena began to pale and he can also feel her trembling, but they can’t stay like this, they need to move for there’s a big possibility that the men who were chasing them will find them soon.

She just took Elena to the indoor emergency exit see if they could escape from there but, the men was already there and so as the elevator, and now without any more choice he took Elena the outside emergency exit and thank goodness that the men hadn’t find it yet.

“Elena go, you can do it just continue stepping downwards, I’m just here. I will not going to let you fall.” He encouraged.

Elena release another nervous sigh as she did what Ian had instructed to her. They were on the half way of the steel stairs that they were taking when they heard a footsteps and voices upstairs where they came from.

Elena worriedly throw her gaze to Ian, and Ian told her just to go on and don’t be bother by it but they must hurry. Elena suddenly felt adrenaline on her system and before she knew they arrived in the first floor.

She felt her knees wants to lose its strength as soon as she place her foot on the concrete ground, but the situation didn’t allow her.

“Come on!” Ian told her with urgency and pulled her again.

“There they are!” she heard another man who was making his way downstairs with his subordinates said loudly.

Elena turn her  gaze to the men only to filled her system with horror when she saw the men taking their guns out and pointed at them.

“”T-T-They are p-pointing their guns at u-us!” she informed stuttery.

Ian also look back only to gritted his teeth and cuss, “f**k!”

And they next thing they knew that made Elena scream in horror is when the men started to rain them bullets.
