7. The morning after

-Mel P. O. V.-

I've waited for Christopher to drift off to sleep. He looked so peaceful, his beautiful blond hair gave him a bit boyish look. I was fighting with myself to touch him again because of those sparks… Wow. I mean what was that? I never felt those while touching anyone else but with him it's different. It's like I want to touch him all the time. But thankfully I restrained myself. That night was amazing and I wish I could cuddle up with him and sleep the day, but I can't afford such luxury.

His breathing and heart rate were steady so it was my cue to leave. Gentle as I could be, I release myself from his tight grip. I gathered all my clothes and put them on making sure to not make any noise. I couldn't wake him, he said some really strange things in the night. That he's been looking for me? I don't understand why? Yes, aunty Clara told us that men tend to tell beautiful lies just to sleep with a woman. But Christopher looked so sincere and happy to be with me that it almost made me believe him. And his smell… mhhh delicious.

I took one last look at a young man lying on a bed deep in sleep.

'Maybe I will have something to remind me of him after all' I thought to myself placing one hand on my abdomen.

I walked out the room as quiet as I could and went out of the hotel. It was 5 in the morning so the town was almost lifeless. Only a few delivery men pass by me on my way to the forest entrance. Place where yesterday we changed into our human forms and got dressed was a place for our meeting. I got there first. Dido came second looking deep in her thoughts.

"How did it go? Did you fulfill the mission?" - I asked her

"Yes, but I need to talk with my mother when we return."

"Why? Did he hurt you?"

"No, but I suspect that our act wasn't successful."

"What do you mean?"

"He put something on his member"

"Like what?" - I was really puzzled maybe Christopher did it too and I have something to worry about as well

"I don't know exactly what it was, but it looked like a snake skin that didn't let his seed reach me. But I need my mother to confirm my suspicions. And how was your night?"

"Successful. And my guy didn't have that snake skin thing."

We waited in silence for another twenty minutes and then Elara walked to the clearing. She looked horrible. She had ripped off the left strap on her dress. Her hair was a mess, she had a red scratch on her cheek and red marks around her wrists. Not to mention dry blood on her. I ran to her and embraced her.

"Goddess, Elara! What happened?"

"I don't know. We went to his apartment and he gave me a drink and since human alcohol doesn't affect us that much I took it. There must've been something else in that drink, because I started feeling dizzy. Then I lost consciousness for a moment and when I woke up I was tied up to his bed and he was on top of me. I managed to end our mission but it was awful. "

" Oh My! El, how did you free yourself?" Dido asked with tears in her eyes and hand covering her mouth in fear

" His knot was a joke. I waited for him to finish what he was doing to my body and then I clawed myself out of this situation"

"Did you…" I started asking but she cut me off

"Yes, when I felt his seed in me I freed myself from his knot and s***h his throat. He won't do this to anyone ever again." Elara said firmly. I would probably do the same, but this might bring unwanted attention to our visit here.

"And you Mel? How did it go?"

"Fine. Everything went according to plan. We should head back to the village now. With corpses of a human lockal pack might start to search for a killer soon." Both of them looked at me and nodded.

We took our dresses off and shifted to our wolves. I guess my night was better and hopefully more fruitful than theirs.

-Chris P. O. V.-

I woke up around 9 am with the biggest grin on my face. I have finally found my Mate, and she is PERFECT! And our first night together was the best s*x in the history of a mankind.

I stretched my arms taping the bed beside me but it's empty.

'That's strange.' - I think to myself

I got up and went to the adjoining bathroom, but it's empty too. I looked around the room for some kind of note but nothing. Her smell was getting faint so she is gone for a while now.

'Where the hell is she?!'

I picked up the phone to call a front desk, with hope that maybe she is in the restaurant already eating breakfast. After all we didn't let room service in, cause we were kind of busy.

"Front desk, how can I help you?" - said receptionist

"Hi, it's Christopher Abernathy from the honeymoon suite, I was wondering if my companion is in the restaurant?" Most of the staff working here were our pack members as this hotel belonged to our family, so there was a big chance that they would pay attention to those who I came with.

" I'm sorry Alpha, but your companion left early in the morning. " I was shocked. Did Kate leave me? God damn it! I just found her and of course this happens. Just my luck!

"I need to look through security recordings."

"Of course Alpha, whenever you are ready, the technician would show you everything you need."

"Good. I'll be right down."

I have bad feelings about this. I put on my yesterday clothes not even bothering with the shower and head downstairs.

Receptionist led me to the security room and they showed me videos of this night.

It's true she left around 5, when I was fast asleep. Why haven't I marked her, that would make things easier!

"Print me a shot where her face is best seen." - I told a technician

"Yes Alpha!" he did as he was told and gave me a picture.

'So you weren't a dream after all. I found you once, not knowing what to look for, now I know. You won't hide from me Kate' I thought to myself looking at my runaway Mate.
