CHAPTER 21 THIS WAS FAR worse than the first day I’d driven Leo to the gym. Today, he had two bottles full of deadly Gatorade, one orange, one blue, and I had a whole lot of expectations. Vadim had bought that drink every day he’d been at the gym. But what if he didn’t today? Or what if someone saw Leo swap the bottles over? Or I’d got the dose wrong? Or he decided he wasn’t thirsty and threw it away? I gripped the wheel and forced myself to take a few deep breaths. If Vadim didn’t drink the poison today, we could come back tomorrow.
