Chapter Five- At Least She Is Not Alone- Have your neck snapped in half, get fed to the wolves, get sold or become a s*x toy? Let me see… maybe none of the above •¡¡|¡¡• ….. •¡¡¡¡• The ambiance had changed, the austere, hefty air had been expelled by a newfound sense of amicability. The limpidity was an instant spiritual experience, physically she was still tense and on edge. The room she was confined to was no butchery or execution house, much to her relief. The first thing that captured her attention was the grand centerpiece standing dashingly and occupying a generous amount of space: a rectangular dinning table long enough to at least host forty seats on one end alone. The table made the rather dull design of the room more aesthetically pleasing, but the beauty of the lavish furniture did not inspire the change in her demeanour; the person occupying one of the seats at the table did. Becca was unsure if she had spotted an familiar face until she covered the meters if ground that had separated them. Upon close inspection, Becca definitely knew that the young woman was the one who gave her water when she regained consciousness, at least what she will convince herself was water. According to what she and the other woman said, they were just like her, they were not her adversaries, but she could not make judgement based purely on her words. If she was just another unfortunate human girl abducted by these deranged creatures, then why was she so well put together and in such a ritzy, luxurious gown? Self- conscious, Becca clutched tightly onto the exiguous towel and approached charily. She could not comprehend how the woman still had not sensed her presence when she was right in front of her. Maybe she was in deep thought? That is why she remained facing away from her even as she charily made it behind her chair. Becca noticed fully opened, pellucid glass doors leading to another room and assumed that the woman must be expecting someone. She walked in front of her and the woman flinched lightly, confirming to Becca that she had been engrossed in pondering like she had suspected. "Hi!" She waved awkwardly then apologised. "I am so sorry, I didn't mean to startle you." The woman smiled and waved it off. "It's okay, please take a sit, don't just stand there." She gestured to the chair next to hers with her hands and Becca eyed the chair in a fleeting moment of skepticism before she drew it out and settled. The table was even more awe- inspiring up- close, it was an inexplicably phenomenal structure made from what she could only guess to be sapphire and blue crystals and other precious stones in variations of blue, gold and white. It looked clean enough to lick. "You must be starving!" The young woman remarked, the smile adorning her beautiful face not faltering. Becca could have been wrong again, but there was something so sincere about her smile. "I did not think that you will be joining us so soon." Becca became slightly nervous as her eyes raked down her body, all the way to her bare feet. "I see that witch Aconi decided to give you a hard time, she is a major b***h, don't mind her. You will find your gowns in your room." Her accent was evocative, it gave her a feeling of ill- defined, inenarrable reminiscence. Becca's rested her hand flatly on her chest and emitted a puff of air, her actions incited the young woman to titter. There was nothing wicked about her laughter, that was a good sign. "You look so relieved! You really thought she was going to leave you walking around in that short thing for days! She tried that with me, trust me, most times she is all bark no bite. Well at least you look cute, I was a troll for at least a week." The woman nudged her on the arm playfully and Becca cracked a wry smile. Her character was interesting, in a pleasant way thankfully. She almost seemed buoyantly naive and her blaisè would have been infectious had Becca not been asking herself, dabbling to figure out how she had managed to keep any vivacity at all in such an environment. Becca cleared her throat and donned a sheepish smile, she had always considered herself a great conversationalist and she was not socially- awkward at all, but she had already developed a defense mechanism that squelched any attempts to let her guard down and allow herself to be vulnerable. She could not trust anyone, she could only rely on herself. "Thanks…" She drawled, studying her reaction. "Thanks?" The woman's perfectly symmetrical eyebrows furrowed slightly and Becca sighed. "I never got to thank you for the water, I really needed it….. hey, I also remembered that you know my name but I don't know yours…" Becca was yet to fathom how these creatures knew her and how they managed to take her to a whole f*****g different planet. If that fact even has any veracity to it. "Ohh! Yes, my name is Xylanase, but you can call me Nase." Becca nodded her head, the familiarity of her accent only then making sense. She had similar origin as her mother. "That's my mother's name, but we call her Lanase." Becca shared in a hurt- laced voice complimentary of her bereft expression, Nase reached for her hand and gave her a comforting squeeze. She sympathized with her, she was the first person to exhibit any compassion. Becca suppressed the emotions clawing at her heart and continued to ask, "where is the other girl you were with? What's her name?" "Her name is Amylase, she will join us shortly," Nase whipped her head back at the sound of nearing footfalls and a mild clank of metal hitting into metal, "Oh there she is." Becca peered over her shoulder and observed the young woman with intrigue. She balanced the full platter in her hands so well and much like Nase, she welcomed her with a genuine, warm smile. "Nase, why did you not tell me Becca would be joining us?" The young woman set down the platter and excitedly pulled out a chair next to her, leaving Becca in the middle. "My name is Amylase, I am the second "wife"," she emphasized the roll of her eyes by springing her fingers to express quotation marks, "but I do not like to be reminded of that s**t. How are you feeling? Ugghh Aconi is such a b***h! I mean since she wants her infallible, glorious Alpha so badly, then she can have him so he leaves us alone, right Nase?" Nase did not seem to agree judging on her immediate reaction, but she soon feigned a smile and nodded her head. "King Atrax does not want her, that's why she is such a mean, vindictive witch, she is jealous of us." "There is nothing to be jealous of." Becca was surprised that Amylase took the words right out of her mouth. She liked her. She radiated such a warm, beautiful energy, and had this twinkle in her eyes that seemed to stem from her sweet soul. "You must be hungrier than a bear just out of hibernation, let's eat, there is more than enough for the three of us." Amylase lifted a lid off a medium sized oval dish and a octagonal one and unpalatable dishes came to view. "What the hell!" Becca exclaimed before she could stop herself. "No I am sorry it's just-" "I know, looks like alien puke," Amylase chuckled lightheartedly, "well this is as good as it gets. There is no "earth" food here. The wolves hunt and kill to eat and strictly consume raw, fresh meat still dripping blood, so we have to find what we can and make it work. The servants don't help, we have to prepare the food ourselves well…" She shifted her gaze to Nase and narrowed her eyes. "I do the cooking most of the time, okay all of the time." Becca looked into the dishes again and grimaced. "If there is no earth food, then what is this?" "That is Fober stew," Amylase pointed at the oval dish, "and that is a salad and some carbs I honestly don't know what to call them. I do not know what a Fober is, Atrax- sorry king Atrax brought it for us, so I have never seen the animal alive but it tastes like a blend of lamb and pork, well alien lamb and pork. Trust me, it tastes better than it looks. Thankfully there are plants, seeds and herbs pr should I say substitutes, they are very strange I won't lie but I enjoy picking them. Nase does not like going to the forest, maybe you'll join me." Becca nodded her head without prior rumination, it was just so hard to say no to Amylase. "Bon appetit I guess?" Becca grabbed what look like a fork and picked up a small boneless piece of the meat. She quickly threw it in her mouth and chewed. She swallowed uneasily, but Amylase was right, it was tasty and nothing close to as unsavory as she imagined. The salad and carbs were the most atrocious looking. The leafy plants were tangerine colored and looked terribly dry and bitter, then there were these yucky things: purple and black with branches of scars which were spiraled and sharp tipped just like horns. Very thick horns. Or a roll of solidified decayed matter. Worst still, the were plenty in portions and looked uncooked. Becca had decided to pass on the horns until she watched Nase pick up one of them and bite into it with ease. She did not wince once or scrunch up her face. Becca decided to copy her and pushed aside her disgust and fears of cracking a tooth and she took a chunky bite of the smallest horn, chewed briefly and swallowed. She laughed at herself and Amylase raised a brow at her. The horn did not assail her taste buds, it tasted like an alien potato seasoned with garlic, lemon and sage. She tried the leaves next and they varied in taste, some tasted like weird celery, some like pickled cucumbers, others like minty lettuce. "It is only out of bitchiness that we are forced to eat this weird stuff," Amylase commented after skinning a bone, "the wolves are always traveling to Earth, especially their alpha king, if he wanted he could bring back food with him, but we have to follow a strict diet to lengthen our lifespan." "Oh and Strych is going to inject you with a serum or whatever that thing is. It will be very painful but the experience won't last long if you stay put and don't give him a hard time." Nase apprised nonchalantly. Becca was chilled to the bone by the mere thought of Strych's filthy, rough hands on her skin. It was definitely not going to be easy to not give him a hard time. Her frustration returned and she found herself overwhelmed by disbelief that she was here and enraged that she could not do anything to change her situation. Even if there was a way out of this planet of lunatics she wouldn't know because no one wanted to give her f*****g answers. "How? How?" She trailed off and her voice returned with more austerity and vexation. "How did I end up here? I had so much going on for me, I was going to get the guy of my dreams, graduate from high school and travel the world a bit before going to uni… my… my life was so good, I was beautiful and popular, everyone liked me, I was a local icon almost… I loved that life, very much and I have lost it. I have parents that love me and a little sister I love more than anything in the world. They must be worried sick, my baby sis must be depressed and going insane. I want to know why and no one will f*****g tell me why! This is bullshit! Pure s**t! What are we doing here? What does that bastard king want from us? I mean come on! This is insane, is he that desperate for a f**k?! Like seriously, aren't there any she- wolves happy to jump on his d**k at his request? Without him even asking even? I just want to know why… why me, why us?" Becca had not released that her heartache had began to leak from her eyes until Amylase's slender fingers swept below her eyes and wiped away her tears. She was teary-eyed as well, Nase just stared at the food. "Don't cry Becca, it breaks my heart, this is so sad. I will try to answer the why part. Well apparently there is peace treaty or agreement that was made a long, long time ago, like centuries ago possibly and that treaty is the reason we are here. Alpha Atrax's sister was killed by hunters on Earth grounds and he declared war on the entire planet to avenge her death but some high powers, presidents or kings or queens or whoever negotiated some peace and king Atrax agreed not to destroy Earth but he can demand and take any sacrifice he wants. Women were his frequent demand, so he can pick any woman he wants, as many as he wants. He likes to pick from our country especially, on Halloween night because that is when the Blood Fall eclipse happens. His sister was killed during the Blood Fall, so I guess Halloween night is significant to him." Becca was frowning and bewildered throughout Amylase's narration. The Blood Fall eclipse was an unfathomable phenomenon that only occurred on Halloween night in Oconia only, from nine to three. Exactly at nine, a red shadow is cast on the full moon and it glows red and covers the country in red light and exactly at 3AM the red shadow vanishes and the moon follows nine minutes and three seconds after. During the Blood Fall, the moon is always closer to earth, but only in Oconia, as though Oconia has its own separate moon. Scientists, astronomers have so far been unable to explain why it happens and how it is possible. Because of this Oconia was denoted as cursed by others, while others saw it as blessed. Legends had it Oconia was chosen by several gods and goddesses and that it would outlive any annihilation and destruction Earth will suffer. "So we are getting punished for some s**t someone did hundreds of years ago! Wow! So what, if he has to abduct teenage girls who had no hand in the murder of his sister or he will bring the entire f*****g human race into extinction. He is twisted, a f*****g psychopath." Becca could not wrap her head around the necessity of this preposterousness. This was some crazy s**t she only heard of in movies, such absurdity should have never infiltrated reality. "I was taken just a day after my eighteenth birthday and I have been here for seven earth years. Nase has been here for longer, for close to eleven years." Amylase revealed and left Becca appalled and perturbed. Eleven f*****g years! How had Nase managed when she could not even imagine herself surviving a week in this prison? If she were in her place, she would have jumped out of the highest window after the first year. Nase appeared rather unfazed, maybe her emotions did not reflect on the surface? She was not the easiest person to read. "Our parents knew that we were going to be taken because we were not just random, regular girls. That is why he kept us. I was not the first to be taken, but I am the first he decided to keep. Our ancestors have history with him, our parents have always known this, so your parents probably know that you are here… unless…" Nase suddenly went quiet and directed an ambiguous stare at Amylase. "Unless?" Becca fidgeted in her seat, immediately losing her appetite. "Unless you are one of the not so special ones." The dread on Amylase's face said it all. She did not want to find herself one of the "not so special ones". "And what if I am? What does he do to them? He kills them doesn't he?" The possibility of dying at the king's ruthless claws or canines did not unsettle her more than the possibility of getting sexually brutalized by him. She could not have that. That could never happen to her. She had always told herself that she would rather kill herself or fight to the death than to get violated by a filthy bastard. Nase donned an more encrypted expression, she was neither frowning or smiling yet her expression was not nonchalant. "You are very beautiful so he probably chose you for your beauty, these kings like pretty things in their possession and women are no exception. There were hundreds of girls before us, thousands before you, yet you only see the two of us. Some of the girls he killed for not being able to satisfy him… sexually that is. Alpha Atrax is very easy to anger, impatient and ruthless, never forget that. The girls he doesn't like are either killed by him, but most of the time Strych is happy to do the dirty work for him, or he throws them in Death's Call forest, that's where all the savage criminals and deranged rogues are kept, the forest is a prison for them and they are constantly starved so… yeah… you get the picture. He feeds them to the wolves but a majority of the girls are auctioned off to the royals or wealthy noblemen from other powerful planets. An auction is held every year." Nase was not wrong about the bastard king's fancy for beautiful women. He had a specific taste for sure. Though there were nuances in their appearance, they were notably similar physically. Nase had golden amber hair that cascaded down to her waist in loose curls and clear, almond- shaped cerulean eyes, while Amylase was a riveting beauty, undoubtedly the most beautiful woman she had ever seen. Compared to her own waist length auburn hair, Amylase's copper blonde hair was a more intense version of hers, but her teal eyes were shaper than her azure blue eyes. They all looked like sisters or close cousins, especially her and Amylase. Amylase began sobbing quietly as Nase gave her a brief history of the auction. Becca embraced her, unsure of how to comfort her. "It's okay Amylase, don't worry about me, I am a lot stronger than I look." Amylase's head rose from her shoulder and she wiped away her tears and sniffled. "I just like you so much already and I do not want to lose another friend the way I lost my little sister. You have the same eyes you know. Four years ago he brought my little sister. Sucrase had always been a wild- spirit and very rebellious, she didn't want to listen and he auctioned her off because he did not want to have to deal with her. I watched as she was humiliated and treated like an animal. The highest bidder was the fifth dragon prince… he… he looked so depraved and sick in the head… he took her away to his planet… I didn't even get the chance to say goodbye. A part of me wants to be hopeful, but I know she is dead… she was my best friend… Becca-" Amylase grabbed both her hands and stared deeply into her eyes. "Becca, please promise me that you will do all in your might to stay. When the time comes, you should try your hardest to entertain his desires and kinks, no matter how twisted and appalling you find them to be. If you can satisfy him then he will keep you, you'll stay with us. Please obey him always, even if the feminist in you is raging, that will keep you alive." "Okay." Becca only agreed to put Amylase out of her misery. Amylase was able to afford another heartwarming smile. Her principles still stood. She did not want to get auctioned off, she did not see herself becoming that pig's s*x slave, death was the better Devil. If he will allow her to talk to her family, then she would rest in peace. She was never going home. Never. The denial had worn off, she was utterly devastated. Becca suddenly remembered her best friend. "Did he take Steph as well?" Nase shrugged her shoulders, finally giving up on the meal. "There is no way of knowing, we were only allowed to see you only for some reason. The auction will be in a few days, and if you are lucky to attend and not be one of the girls getting auctioned off, then you will watch with us and see if there is anyone you know." "Where is he?" Becca sneered, wishing she could skin him alive, chop his d**k and balls off and shove them down his throat. "How come I still haven't seen him?" The supposed king seemed to be hiding from her, not that she was excited to finally put a face on the odious bastard she's already heard so many awfully disgusting things about. Nase was the one to answer her. "Well he has not slept in my bedroom since your arrival, he always gets so restless and impassioned during these times. It is like he loses control of the animal in him. You might be meeting him tomorrow or maybe even tonight. I bet Aconi didn't tell you what to expect now didn't she? Are you ready for the wolf king, Becca?" Nase didn't have to taunt her so much, when the mere thought of her stumbling into him already terrorized her mind so mercilessly. Was she ready for a blood- thirsty, raging, testosterone fueled, sick in the head dickhead who can shift into a furry beast that can easily overpower her and rip her to shreds? No. Of course not.
