Chapter Two: Where am I?
My eyes popped open to unfamiliar surroundings. The room was painted red with multiple dull lights hanging from the ceiling that seemed to be made of dry, grassy material.
I turned my head to the left and noticed an old looking dresser. It was ancient looking and I was sure that those of its kind or similar to it were no longer being made. To my right was a closed curtain, burgundy coloured yet shimmery. The material it was made from was definitely heavy and far from being ideal for the design of the room. As a matter of fact, everything about how the room looked was off-putting, naff and unappealing to my eyes. Whoever was responsible for this mess needed to reevaluate their life!
I lifted my head from the hard pillow it was placed on and triggered sharp pain in my head which shot all the way down to the lower half of my body. I was tremendously fatigued and the stiff bed I was on was not helping with my body aches.
I attempted to sit up and look around more, perhaps find a door to fly straight out of and find the person responsible for laying me on this nightmare of a bed but only managed to lift my body from the neck up. Something was resisting my movement and it was clear that it didn't have anything to do with muscle fatigue or numbness. I was tied down to the hard bed from the chest all the way down to my legs. I could see the patterns of the intertwining rope enveloping me to this hard surface. Whoever did this was quite eager and passionate. Either that or they really hated me enough to want to kill me from lack of proper blood circulation.
Why the f**k was I tied? Where the f**k was I actually?!
I immediately panicked, squealing and squirming in the hard fastened ropes. The room was quiet and only the sound of the bed creaking and squeaking as I tried to free myself could be heard so I assumed my abductor was not in the room with me and continued my struggle.
"Ohhh I think she's awake" a voice suddenly came not too far from the end of the bed I was tied to, making me freeze. It was a soft female voice and the tone suggested that she was young, around my age as far as I could judge.
"Get her water, I'll check to see how she's doing." Another unfamiliar female voice called out and soon I heard footsteps approaching me.
Get her water? She better not be talking about me!
My heart immediately raced and my breathing hitched. My struggle to set myself free became more powerful and meaningful as she got closer.
"What are you doing? You're going to hurt yourself." She finally got close enough for me to see her face as she pinned me down so I wasn't moving anymore.
Just like the other female, her voice sounded soft and friendly and did not give me reason to panic but it was hard to believe that anyone was your friend when you have practically been kidnapped.
"Who are you? Why am I here? Take me home!…. please!" I pleaded with her as I tried to keep my anger at bay, failing badly. She only looked at me, her eyes staring deeply into mine, making it easy for me to see a glint of what I could only assume was sadness in them.
"Please! Say something. Where am I? I want to go home." I wanted to be strong and tough skinned but I broke down easily and was practically crying and yelling out to her at this point.
"There is no home anymore. This is where you belong now." She finally answered with tears in her eyes.
"What do you mean there is no home anymore?" I looked her deep into the eyes so I could pick up on signs of deceit if she planned on lying to me.
She finally let one tear out and turned away from me, letting me see her waist length, straight brown hair.
"You are not going back home Becca. I am never going home, it is how it is." She finally added after seconds of snuffing and sighing.
What was she talking about? I doubt I have ever been more confused and scared at the same time in my entire eighteen years of life.
I could hear a door open from one corner of the room and soon there was another blonde female next to me. She looked to be around twenty four years at most. She also shared the same sad look in her eyes as she looked at me.
"She's still going through the new arrival phase huh?" She paused to shake her head.
"She will get over it soon." She went on again and put a straw in a bottle, pushing it towards my mouth. I flinched away from it on instinct.
"Have some water. It won't be what you are used to but it will help you." She implored but I just stared down at the plastic straw and container.
I insisted that I didn't need the water, which with such a dry throat and empty stomach was a lie.
It wasn't hard to tell that my hesitation was due to me not trusting them and they obviously guessed it.
"You better trust us, Becca. We're going to be the only friends you know from this day on. And there's obviously no way you're not thirsty when you were unconscious for four days."
First of all, how do they know my name? And secondly, have they absolutely lost it?
Four days? What were they talking about?
"How have I been unconscious for four days? Where am I? None of you want to tell me!" This time I was not playing nice girl, I yelled as loudly as my dry throat and weariness could manage.
"Shhhh!" They both panicked and one of them placed a hand over my mouth to keep me quiet. I could not keep quiet, not when I had no clue where I was and why I was tied like the goal was to mummify me with rope.
If they were telling the truth and I had really been gone for four days then I could not imagine how frantic my parents had to be.
I mumbled into her hand for only a few seconds before my weary body could not let me scream anymore and I had to catch my breath.
She removed the hand from my mouth and looked at me with sadness like before.
"Listen, we are not your enemies here, you should not be worried about us. In fact, we should be the last of your worries. You are not on earth anymore and you will never go back. You're in the king's planet now, the land of the werewolves and-"
"Okay stop! f*****g werewolves?"
I suddenly had enough energy to burst out laughing, which for some reason, had both their faces screaming confusion.
You are bluffing! This is a prank isn't it?"
I continued to laugh out loud, shaking my head. Everything was coming together now. The last memory I had before I woke up here was of me at that Halloween party. Nothing about making it to this mess of a house. This was obviously a prank and I knew Steph had to be in on it.
"Steph! You can come out now, the jig is up. Hurry up and untie me, I am suffocating in this unfashionable rope!"
My yells for my best friend had them uneasy with their heads turning to check all angles of the room. The blonde haired girl placed a finger on her lips, begging me to stay quiet but I was done at this point. I loved a good prank, but even the best of things had to come to an end.
"So did you drug me? I mean I do not even know how I got here! Whatever it is you poured into my drinks is the s**t, okay?" I laughed, still amused by the entire situation and how genius this joke actually was. I mean, I am the most skeptical person I know and for a second there I was falling for it.
My laughter was cut short by two loud bangs on the door, with the third one forcing it open. My position on the bed did not allow me to see who it was that had entered but whoever it might have been petrified the girls. Both of them immediately went pale and froze.
I could hear heavy footsteps coming towards me and suddenly I wasn't sure that this was a prank anymore.
"Excellent, she's awake" a very tall man of large built stood by the edge of my bed, stroking my hair with a devious smile.
"The king will be delighted to know." He continued to brush on my hair even harder, seemingly thinking out loud.
No, who is this king they keep speaking of? Tell me none of this is real!
I didn't have to look at him twice to know I was scared of him. I knew nothing of him, I barely assessed his physical appearance but my gut was telling me to be afraid, and very afraid at that.
"I go by horror Beta, but you can call me Strych. That would be my actual name" he smiled deviously and ruffled my hair.
I stared at him, deeply afraid and unable to form any words. A barely moving nod of the head was all I could give him to avoid him getting angry from me ignoring him.
At this point, the girls were nowhere in my line of vision, all I was left with was a touchy, evil looking, aggressive giant by my side, who had me shaking like it was well below zero degrees in this room.
He looked like a very short tempered man, his forehead lines were permanently rested like he was frowning, his eyes were a piercing green and held an intimidating stare. If that did not verify how gruesome of a person he must have been, then his nickname definitely assured me that he was cruel, and I had every right to be fearful.
"Untie her boys." He snapped his fingers and slowly walked away from me. My heart immediately raced even faster than I thought possible. I knew that I was going to be untied but not knowing what his intentions for doing so were was the scariest part.
Loud footsteps approached me again but this time it wasn't only one person. From how loud and heavy each step sounded, I knew that whoever it was was just as large as Strych, if not bigger.
A million years of life wouldn't have prepared me for what I saw next, it was impossible.
Two large beasts were at both my sides, broad shouldered, large and hairy. One of them had pitch black fur with not one colour highlighting it or mixing with it. The same beast started tugging at the ropes with a claw, causing the other one with dark grey fur to follow his lead and claw at them too.
My mind was the closest to insanity it had ever been before, I was petrified as the ropes kept snapping easily, showing no resistance to each cut made by the claws. If that's how easily they could cut thick rope, I did not want to find out what they could do to thin human skin.
