What's that smell?

Makahi: POV "So, we need to increase our men at the borders, send two scouts to do recon in the area Alpha Terrain told us about, and we’ll be on a soft lock down for now. All women and children will have one hour a day outside, with at least two of our men monitoring them. Make sure they stay away from the wooded areas for now." I reviewed the new safety guidelines to Montego as we were planning and scheduling how to best handle these rogue wolves. It was obvious that they had banded together to attack several packs. The other alphas sounded pissed and unsettled by how organized their attacks were. They seem to have a leader controlling them. So, I wasn’t going to take this new threat lightly. A brief knock on the door interrupted us for a moment, “Enter." I said still looking at the map on my desk trying to figure out the best position to put our men. We need them to cover the entire pack land and borders. Hunter and Shadow enters my office and waited for me to acknowledge them. Looking up at them, Shadow looks a little off, but Hunter was all smiles. "Have they arrived yet?" I asked no one in particular. "Yes, they arrived a little while ago. Luna took them to the last house out west like you instructed. We deposited their things and left Luna with them." Hunter said still smiling. Raising my brow curious as to what he found amusing. "Care to share what has you in a good mood." I asked Hunter. "Well alpha the human women our Luna invited seems...... nice." He said trying to search for the right words. I hear Shadow give a low growl at Hunter’s description of the human women. I glanced at him a little surprised at his response. “Shadow is there a problem." I asked trying to gauge his reaction. Shadow stepped forward to answer my question. But I didn’t hear a word he said because I caught the most delicious scent that I have ever smelt. I couldn’t make out what the scent was, but my wolf immediately tried to push forward, trying to get closer to that smell. Which I refused because I wasn’t about to sniff Shadow. "Alpha is something wrong? Did you hear what I said?" Shadow asked. I immediately snapped back into alpha mode again. "No, say again." I answered. Shadow eyed me strangely but repeated himself. "I said I think it was a bad idea, allowing the human women to stay here. Maybe you can speak to our Luna to see if she will reconsider. They are mouthy and tiny, I'm afraid some of our females will hurt them." Shadow said in a rush, he looked nervous and a bit pale, which was odd to say the least. Hunter stepped forward as well. I smelt something sweet, but not like what I smelt on Shadow. I don't know why my wolf is clawing at me trying to get closer to wherever that smell was coming from. "Will you chill the hell out Maka." I said to my wolf. He growled and responded. "OUT NOW!" "You think I'm going to let you out so you can sniff Shadow? Are you nuts? Just let me find out what's going on with these humans, and I promise you we will find out where that smell is coming from." I said as a compromise. “Find!” Maka replied and then settled down. I could still feel him on the surface ready to come out. Hunter and Shadow were arguing about the human women, I can tell they are already a problem. "ENOUGH!" I growled and both men immediately stopped their debate. Looking at Hunter, I nodded for him to speak. "Alpha, I think Shadow is overreacting, he's angry because our Luna had to scold him for growling at one of the women." Hunter said smirking at Shadow. "WHAT THE Hell SHADOW? I TOLD YOU NO WOLF STUFF IN FRONT OF THE HUMAN WOMEN. ARE YOU TRYING TO EXPOSE THIS ENTIRE PACK TO THE WORLD?" I yelled using my alpha aura. Shadow immediately bared his neck to me in submission. "No alpha, I don't know what happen, the little one with the long hair and round cheeks just rubs me the wrong way. I don't know why." Shadow said helplessly. He looked completely confused as hell. I let go of my alpha aura and he immediately stood at attention. I frowned as I thought about it, I looked at Shadow when I remembered. "Shadow weren't you supposed to be at the front entrance tonight?" I asked and his face immediately showed his guilt. Hunter started laughing. I looked at him, waiting for the joke. "Well alpha, me and Blaze were helping the humans with their luggage. Blaze was getting the suitcases out when one of them walked up to him smiling, thanking him for his help. Shadow came outta no where and said that you wanted him to man the front gates tonight." Hunter finished with a smirk. I Looked at Shadow who was standing stock still not looking at Hunter. "Explain?" I asked Shadow, his face held guilt. I was starting to think that maybe it was a bad idea to bring them here; they have my best warriors all messed up after just one encounter. "I was just trying to keep their exposure to our warriors at a minimum. I don't want them to have to deal with them unnecessarily." Shadow replied. Which was a good excuse, it was complete bullshit, but I wouldn't drag him through the coal for it. He already looked like he's been in a wolf fight and lost. Besides, I needed to ask him about the wolf that had that delicious smell. "Hunter you're dismissed, Shadow stay behind for a second, I have some questions for you." I said sitting back in my chair. I gestured for Shadow to have a seat next to Montego. I just notice that he hasn’t spoken at all during the entire debriefing. "Shadow besides the humans, who else did you come in contact with? Any other female wolves from another pack? I asked, trying to make it seem like a general question. "Uh, only the caters your mother hired from the Mombasa pack. Why do you ask? " He asked, a little confused by the question. "I just wanted to make sure I know all the females that may come in contact with the human women tonight. You said you don't think that they will get along with our females, so we need to make sure that we control the situation." I said absent-mindedly, he nodded accepting my excuse, even though that was complete bullshit. Looking at Montego the smirk on his face said that he saw through my excuse, because he looked at me with a raised brow. "You may go and get ready for my mother's mating anniversary. When you get there, please let her know I will be there as soon as I'm done here." I said looking back down at my map. Once Shadow left, I could still feel Montego’s eyes on me waiting for me to explain. When he saw that I wasn't offering an explanation, he came out and asked. “You want to tell me what the hell that was about?" he asked, eyeing me. "I don't f*****g know, but when I find out I'll fill you in. I don't think I'm going to like where this is going already." I said, taking a deep breath trying to focus on this damn map and not the lingering smell of WATERMELON! That's what I smelt, with something else mixed in, but definitely watermelon. Now that I was able to solve that small piece of the puzzle, Maka calmed down enough for me to finish planning our new security guard schedule. Ji’lahni: POV nine o’clock We had just arrived at the social hall, even though we were on time, it looked like people had been there for a while. The place was decorated beautifully in black and gold, which I’m starting to think is their community colors. The tables had beautiful clear vases, with black marbles, and a gold candle, as center pieces, giving it a romantic vibe. Everyone was dressed like they were on the red carpet. Lateri told us it was formal, so we had to buy dresses for this event. I’m glad we did, because we had nothing that would live up to what we were seeing. We ended up having dresses custom-made because we just couldn’t find something that we liked. Nothing complimented our body type, which is a problem that plus size women have to deal with, besides having limited options. For example, I have a stomach, but my waist was snatched, I have hips and ass for days. My boobs were a C cup, so I love dresses that insinuate my boobs, to distract from my stomach. I loved showing off my bleeding-heart tattoo, wrapped in a chain with a lock between my breast. I also had the key tattooed somewhere else on my body, and if you ever get close enough to find it, that means you’re lucky enough to have my heart. Tonight, I chose a lilac-colored halter top dress with a deep V that stopped right above my stomach. It was a long form fitting dress with two deep slits on both sides. I don’t mind showing a little leg as long as the dress covered the lumps and cellulite on my inner thighs. The middle was wide enough that you would only see the splits on both sides when I walked. To top it off, I had a short jacket to cover my back fat. As I said I know how to make s**t work for me. The color went perfectly with my deep chocolate skin, It made my deep blue eyes sparkle. Me and my cousins all had deep blue eyes, which we got from our granny. We got our dark chocolate complexion from our papa. As for my hair I always keep the sides cut very low, with a design on the side and the top is always in braids. The entire dress had rhinestone trimming that shined whenever the lights hit it. Now Shawna always had the perfect fat girl shape, where everything was in the right places. She chose a form fitted blood red sleeveless dress with a sweetheart neckline. Her dress was trimmed with diamond rhinestones too, but she had a deep side split. Her dress exposed her back tattoo of angel wings, that expand the length of her shoulders. Sometimes when she moves a certain way, it looked like the wings move. Then there is Mina, she was smaller than us, but she was also shorter. She had a stomach as well but was smaller everywhere else. She wore a royal blue, long sleeve dress, that drape down the front, that exposed her nice boobs, yet hid her stomach just right. The dress was backless, which showed off her spine tattoo, of a flying dragon. The Dragon looked like it was flying up her spine; all and all, we looked damn good. The best part was the dresses doubled as our dance outfits. The bottom had secret Velcro that allowed us to remove the bottom of the dresses to expose a flowy skirt, which moved in tune with our bodies. We did it this way because we didn’t want to have to go through the whole dress change process. We would remove our shoes and replace them with soft dance shoes that matched our dresses. As we’re walking into the entrance, everyone seemed to stop talking just to stare at us, making it real weird. s**t we looking at each other like damn, do we have something on our faces. I mean I get we were out of towners, but to stare so hard was weird as hell. “What the hell are they staring at? Are we supposed to be dancing now?” Mina asked in a whisper. She smiled nervously at everyone. “The hell if I know. s**t it looks like we’re the only black people in here, that may be why. All I know is, I’m about to just sit my ass down at the closest table, I don’t care whose table it is.” I whispered back walking slowly to the nearest table. From the front of the room, we spot Lateri running toward us in a white ballgown, that looked kind of like dresses queens wore in the eighteen hundreds. I know that dress is heavy as hell, but she running like it was light as a feather. The poor girls who were trying to make sure her train stayed straight were trying to keep up. “There is my chocolate drops, yall look so beautiful, you’re gonna make an old lady cry. I love those dresses; they look perfect, turn around and let me see.” Lateri said beaming as we obeyed. We were blushing because everyone was still staring, but Lateri acted like we were the only ones in the room. “Just beautiful now come on, dinner is about to be served. I put you girls at the front with me, my mate, our son, and his best friend whenever they get here.” Lateri said as she grabbed our hands and dragged us between the tables. People were staring with their mouths hanging open. I hear a now familiar growl and turned to see none other than Shadow killer staring holes into Shawna’s head as we passed by him. When we reached our table, Lateri reintroduced us to her mate Antoni Crystal. He was supposed to be sixty-seven years old, but he damn sure will have to prove he’s not forty. We only saw him twice while they visited South Carolina, but he was always so nice and friendly. He clearly loved Lateri because he was always touching her or looking at her lovingly. “Hi young ladies, it’s nice to see you again. Lateri was absolutely right, you girls look beautiful tonight.” He said getting up pulling our chairs out so we could sit. He was such a gentleman. "Thank you.” We all said at the same time, blushing like little girls do when their fathers tell them they’re beautiful. Once seated everyone seemed to go back to their conversations. “I hope you girls like the food that I picked. I wanted to have some of your southern food added to the menu, to make sure we had things you liked.” she said proudly. “Awe, momma Teri you didn’t have to do that, we would love to try some of your traditional foods. We don't want people to think you went out of your way to accommodate us.” I said shyly. “Oh, hush up sweetie. I don’t care what anyone thinks, if they have a problem with the food they could leave right now.” Lateri said loud enough, that I’m sure twelve of the twenty-four tables heard her. We tried to disappear at that moment, but it didn’t work. So, we focused on our nice silverware until the moment passed. “I don’t know where the hell Kahi is. I swear Antoni if he misses out anniversary dinner, I will wring his neck.” Lateri said angerly. “Now you know he will be here when he can. He had a really important meeting that couldn’t be postponed. Please understand honey, don’t be too hard on him if he misses it. You know he would be here if he could.” Antoni said, pulling Lateri in to console her as she silently agreed. “Besides you have your girls here with us to celebrate, that’s something right.” He added. “You’re right honey, I’m as happy as a clam, because you girls are here.” She smiled just as the servers came to our table, placing plates in front of us. She wasn’t playing when she said she picked foods she thought we would like. That plate had baked chicken, baked Macaroni, and cheese, and what looked to be cabbage. It smelled and looked delicious, and it tasted great too, she really went all out. We wanted to eat everything on that plate. We couldn’t eat like we wanted, because we had to perform in thirty minutes, but I damn sure hope they did carryout plates. I wouldn’t dare ask because I do know how to act around rich folks. “Momma Teri the food was amazing.” Mina said after dinner was removed. “I’m so glad you liked it. We have a few minutes before your performance. I wanted to introduce you to some of the other ladies here.” Teri smiled, she got up and grabbed our hands, dragging us around each table, introducing us to everyone, literally calling us her adopted daughters. For the most part everyone was civil. There was some younger and older women who gave us nasty looks, when Lateri wasn’t looking. We just gave them our winning smile because we could care less what they thought of us. Lateri got called away while introducing us to a table filled with women that looked around our age. They all were athletic females, they looked like they worked out in their sleep. When Lateri was out of ear shot one of them decided she had something to say to us. “Damn yall not ashamed dressing like little fat sluts. Nobody wants to see all that fat hanging out.” She sneered at us, as the other girls laughed. We looked at each other and laughed too s**t. “What are yall laughing for I was talking about yall.” The same b***h spoke again. “We’re laughing because you really think calling us fat sluts, was going to somehow shame or humiliate us, in front of your little friends. Uuuummmm sweetie, we don’t care about you or your friends enough to care about what yall think about us. You tried it though, how old are you five?” I asked sarcastically, still laughing. “Cuz, I feel like she sat back here this entire time worried about three chick’s, she doesn’t know. Have you been sitting here thinking about us this whole time? When we didn’t even know you existed, until a few seconds ago, and you will be forgotten in three, two. Were we just talking to some jealous hating ass bitches, cuz?” Mina asked, looking at me. “s**t I thought so, but I real life can’t even remember. They must have been bitches; we could give two shits about. We can’t even remember what they looked like.” I said and we started laughing all over again, as we walked away from the table before we have to show our asses in here. We were not trying to ruin Lateri’s anniversary dinner. Lateri found us standing in the back of the room minutes later. “What are yall doing way back here? Was someone rude to you?” She asked turning around, looking at the table where she left us. The girls were trying their best to be invisible. Before she could walk off and to hand them their asses, I grabbed her. “no one said anything to us. We just decided to walk to the back to wait for you because it’s almost time for us to perform.” I said, praying that she believed me. She eyed us for a few seconds trying to use Jedi mind trick on us or something. She decided to believe us, then took us backstage to get ready to perform. I suddenly became super nervous; I pray to God I don’t mess up. Oh well too late to turn back now, Let’s do it.
