Kalahari.

I drank a cup of hot cocoa before getting up to turn off the lights.

I was so sluggish to get to the kitchen but I had to . I hauled myself up , luckily it was a Saturday. I stayed at home all day marking the quizzes the kids had done before the drawing session. It's lonely ,but am used to being on my own. Next weekend I will probably head to the park for an outdoor chill .

Turning on the kitchen light . I gasped dropping the cup on the floor . It was a plastic cup, it rolled meters away .Am sure it was a s surprised as I was .

Pierce was in my kitchen scanning all over the cupboards with his iPhone torchlight on. How did he get in ? What is he doing here ?

How comes I did not hear him come in ?

" what are you doing in my kitchen?" I asked demanding for an answer.

He turned his gaze at me .

" your kitchen is tinier than my toilet. Your shelves are empty , there is nothing in here , how do you eat. No wonder you are thin" he pointed at my shelves .

I am thin? Well I should probably burn my mirror as I don't see the thin image when I stare at it .

" how did you even get into my house ? "

" it's not a house it's an apartment. Very tiny at that "

" whatever it is , its my place. Can't you respect my privacy. Who are you ? "

" am Pierce Damon , here to scrutinize your tiny apartment. "

" for what ? Pierce you are so eerie. Who let you in? I am sure I locked my house "

" does it matter "

He opened my fridge and cracked up.

" empty , you are such a deserted soul. No wonder you are a loner . No food , no friends just you. Boring life . "

" and am comfortable like that, I don't need to have many people around me to prove I am not a loner. I enjoy my own company. So please get out of my home"

He shut my fridge.

His blue eyes shot directly at me .

He walked and stopped before me . He expected me to tremble at his demeanng stare at me . His height intimidates mine, but not a reason to fear him..

I didn't shudder or wiggle . I stood tall and proud . Starting right into his eyes.

" I don't know what pact you had with my sister, but I can ascertain you it doesn't change how I view people like you. I feel hostility toward you all to the core. All this is just acting, but keep in mind , I don't , won't and will never ever love you . " he blurted out those words like venom .

I don't know who he thinks he is but am not the type that gets put down over mediocre threats.

"Yeah , Yeah, you hate people of my skin complexion I get it . Your scorn doesn't bring food to my table so why should I care? Maybe you think you won because you are privileged, but don't think you can put down everyone because of your hate . Next time try harder.Not every girl is one of those miserable models you treat like s**t and they spread their legs for you so cheaply for you. Whether you like me or not am just persevere you .Not that I fancy you in any way. So please get the hell out of my house ! "

He spit on me , like literally spit on me.

Looks like he got the message. That's all I cared about.

He seethed out of my house , I heard the door slam .

I went to the bathroom to wash up his saliva off of my face .

I stared at the mirror.I began to chuckle.

He's ridiculous to have thought I would've been easily deterred.

I turned off the lights and drifted to sleep .

Early the next morning ,I arrive the school and guess who I meet.

Anna .

" good morning Kalahari " she said .

" good morning Anna "

She followed after me as I strode into the classroom to prepare the seats before the kids arrive.

" how was your weekend".

" good yours ?" I implored .

" great "

Am still mad at her for the stunt she pulled .

" Anna why are you here ?"

" to see you , how you are doing "

" is that so? You came here at six am to know how I am doing?"

"the early bird ..."

"catches the.... " I chuckled.

" Frankly, I came to know what you had decided "

" I will accept it". Her eyes broadened in disbelief

" for real"

" yes , but under the condition I don't leave my job and you keep the children away from media attention. Infact my job away from. the media . I don't want to dishearten the kids ."

"sure got it , thank you so much for agreeing to this . You have no idea how the media have been saying favorable things about you both "

" they have ?"

" yes , "

" well that's incredible , "

" I will call you soon so we can arrange for your wedding, I will have the funds transferred to your account as soon as possible , "

She stopped and turned to stare at me with a sweet smile .

" by the way that ring looks stunning on you ."

Wedding so soon ! I had certainly forgotten I was wearing the ring.Why was I wearing it anyway?

" am okay with that, oh and by the way tell your brother next time he plans on spitting on me he should aim for my lips ."

She gave me a hug before leaving .

The reason I agreed to this is for the kids. That money could help keep the school afloat , sponsor the kids to a few trips , and get us more books as well as pay the teachers well .

Besides Anna is really kind , she would be so devastated if I said no and would persue me until I said yes .

She's really working hard , twice harder than the devil.

The children began to run into class . My favorite people .

My phone beeped on checking it was a bank tip .

1million$ had been deposited . Anna did keep her word .

Along with the transfer was a note.

" that's just the introduction there is more from where that came from."

This will be great...I hope so.

" you out! " she growled at Dan.

Dan hastily walked out.

Anna walked to where I sat and slapped me.

" spit on her really! You f*****g nincompoop ,do you not learn anything!"

That snake told Anna.

" ofcourse she told me , Pierce can't you just stay away from trouble even if it's just this once?"

" I don't know what you are talking about"

" you went to her house , just to spit on her? You have no shame , it's twenty first century and you can afford to spit on a woman. You better pray she doesn't file a harrasment and assault lawsuit because it will be one hell of a damageto have on our hands. We are yet to wipe off the racist rant you had the other day and now a lawsuit ,this is a mess a big one "

The engagement publicity stunt worked , the press are writing good things about me .

" you should be grateful she even said yes to this proposal"

She said yes!

" wait , are we getting married like for real"

" yes , what did you think it was , a fake announcement ? No one is stupid to believe those kinds of things.It would have worked had this been 1978. With this digital era , anyone can look up the internet and see who is married and who isn't . We will keep things real . Your mouth messed us up ,as I said I will fix it my way. "

" Anna ,I can't marry her ,she's..."

" she's what ? Go on say it ."

" she's black, "

" so is my husband and look how happy and healthy I am.Our babies are well taken care of .He's loving , supporting and cares about me and our children .And he's like her. I loved him for who he is not his skin color . Pierce this isn't 1845 "

" we could just lie we got married in Saudi Arabia or Norway"

" You do know anyone can look that up. And besides those countries have their own rules and regulations it would be dangerous to lie . Pierce you can create all kinds of excuses, you will marry that girl whether you like it or not!"

" not if she's dead "

" don't even think about that , if you dared try to harm her .I assure you , your ass will be in jail in less than an hour .And I will personally escort you to the coldest, dirtiest , rat filled cell, the one with roaches all over."

Her tone was devious.I trust she can certainly do that .

" we don't even know her Anna "

She opened the drawer to the left . She took out a file and threw it on my desk .

" that's all you need to know about her , " she blurted.

She's always ahead.

I opened the first page , her appealing beauty glowed back at me .

" how did you ever access this? "

" she's a teacher , how hard can it be. Read it because the press will ask you questions about her. The more erroneous you are the dumber you will look. They l haven't fully bought the idea you and her are getting married. Master your new wife. I will arrange for the , engagement party then the wedding. " she remarked.
