CHAPTER 4
Meanwhile...
In a large hotel suite, Hyan's production team was busy preparing for their activities in Tokyo. Several men discussed Hyan's schedule, the shows he would attend, press conferences, his tappings and photoshoot locations, and many more. Most of them were with Hyan for years, and they all knew what was expected from their group.
Their schedule had been hectic for years, but the six-country tour, so far, had been the busiest for everybody. They almost had no rest for the last two months, including Hyan. They were relieved knowing that Tokyo would be their final country to visit, then they would be returning to SK. Four more days, and they would finally take the much-needed rest.
Everybody would be busy tomorrow except for Hyan...he would have a break.
Hyan was the most crucial person on tour, and he had been bone-tired, yet--despite her obvious tiredness, nobody expected him not to deliver what was required of him; therefore, the team decided not to engage him in any activity for one day. A well-deserved day off.
In one of the rooms...
Hyan was resting on his bed, smiling as he stared at the heart emoji Charrie had sent to him. There was no other message, just the icon. It was not his first time to receive a message like that, but somehow that was the first that crammed his mind. He was unexpectedly ecstatically happy, and he couldn't explain the feeling.
Dennis, his assistant, and confidant, entered the room. He saw Hyan with a big smile on his lips. He was a bit surprised to see him smiling because he was getting used to seeing a scowl and frown on his handsome face every day since their tour started.
"Hyan, you have the entire day tomorrow to charge up," he informed of the team decision, then asked, "What's your plan?"
Hyan shrugged his shoulders.
"I might explore while you all prepare. Perhaps--a walk in the park for fresh air, and I don't know yet," Hyan replied without looking at Dennis.
"Don't try to attract attention." Dennis reminded him, although he knew Hyan would be the last person to aim for attention.
"Yep! Promise!" said Hyan while staring at his phone.
"Every time you say that your fans still find you. I wonder who's giving them tips on your whereabouts. Is he one of us? Who's the mole? Those fans always show up wherever we are!" Dennis scratched his head, annoyed.
Hyan shook his head and looked at Dennis, "Man, don't you trust your people?"
Dennis heaved a deep sigh, "I don't know!" he shook his head. "There were so many fans around. It's the craziest and the most tiring two months and tour we had. Everyone knows you." he exasperatedly uttered.
Although he was happy with Hyan's success, he was also aware of Hyan's exhaustion. It was not easy to look good in front of the camera when he was too tired. Dennis was also concerned about his health. Hyan wasn't complaining, but Dennis knew he was worn out.
"Easy, Dennis! It is the last leg. We're going home after this." Hyan smiled at the 38-year-old man in front of him. Looking at him closely, he noticed that Dennis had aged a lot since joining his team seven years ago. His task might have given him too much of a headache, Hyan thought.
"I know, right! I can't wait to go back to SK. Tomorrow, please bring two bodyguards, at least. Just in case!" Dennis reminded Hyan.
Hyan nodded and agreed, "Alright!" Then he asked, "Hey man, can you do me a favor?"
"Sure!" Dennis replied immediately.
"Can you please ask for the room number of Ms. Charrie Gonzales?"
Dennis was speechless for a few seconds. He tilted his head and looked at Hyan intently, trying to figure out what was in Hyan's mind. He asked when Hyan displayed a blank expression. "Who is she?" then Dennis remembered, "Ah-Ohh, the lady at the airport, right?"
"Yeah!" Hyan confirmed.
"Why?" he queried, but Hyan furrowed his eyebrows.
Dennis shook his head and reminded him, "Hyan, let me remind you of your contract, huh!"
There were many firsts Hyan did for the lady Denise figured. He was both happy and worried about Hyan. At 32, Hyan had been working so hard. He hardly had free time, no love interest, and didn't socialize as much as other celebrities, except when necessary for his project. Hyan's attention had been on work for the past few years. His interest in a particular lady surprised Dennis. Hyan never treated a fan like he treated the lady, and he was worried that it would bring complications to his contract.
"Do it. Give it to me tomorrow," But it was hard to go against Hyan when he set his mind on something. He immediately cut off Denni's lectures.
"Hyan do not get involved during tours. You know us…."
Dennis stopped talking when Hyan raised his hand to stop him.
Although Hyan halted his speech, his attention was not on Dennis. He was scrolling on his phone and busy looking at Charrie's social media profile. He wondered why there was no post directly from her, and he found only tags from her friends. It was odd, he thought.
He intently looked at her profile picture, "She is so lovely but even lovelier in person," he whispered to himself.
He was about to close her profile when he saw the date of her birthday-- tomorrow? His eyebrows rose to realize Charrie would spend her birthday alone.
"Hmmm, It's her birthday, and yet she was all alone. Her team was due to arrive the day after tomorrow, and thus, she would be alone on her special day." An idea suddenly popped into his head!
He smiled. "I will know how to spend my time tomorrow," he murmured.
Hyan looked at Dennis and uttered, "Dennis, I don't need her room number anymore. Instead, connect me to the concierge right now."
Dennis shook his head. His lips rose in one direction, and he murmured, "What is he up to this time?" But even though he was a bit surprised, he did as Hyan requested.
The next day...
Charrie woke up early.
It is her twenty-seventh birthday! No one here in Tokyo knew it was her day, but that was alright with her. She was prepared to have a good time alone. She stepped out of her bed and did her morning rituals, feeling so light-hearted.
She had chosen a light purple-shade pantsuit and silver stilettos to wear. A vision of elegance with youthful energy was reflected in the mirror before her. She smiled--she liked what she saw. She was very much like the promising young business person.
To complete her perfect look for an ideal day--she placed light make-up on her face.
She chuckled in glee, murmuring, "Not bad, Charrie. Your birthday look is--charming! Get ready to sign your birthday gift."
Closing this contract was an excellent birthday gift for her, and she was not asking for more.
Checking how she looked one more time, she prepared to proceed to her meeting.
Suddenly, she heard the sound of a bell.
Quickly, she went to the door, and her eyes opened wide when she opened it.
The concierge representative carried a beautiful bunch of pink roses inside her suite.
"Ohhhh! So beautiful," she murmured.
"Who's the sender?" she cheerfully asked the attendant.
"There's a card on top of the roses, madame," smiling he answered.
After placing the flowers on the table, she thanked the attendant. He smiled and immediately left.
About five dozen pink Ecuadorian roses were arranged beautifully in the vase.
She grabbed the card and read the message.
Dear Charrie,
I hope you'll have the best birthday ever!
–heart
"No sender name?" she whispered. But she guessed it was from her office. Her staff never missed gifting her with flowers on her birthdays, "Ahh--They really are sweet even here in Tokyo. They still remembered to send me flowers."
Much as she wanted to look and admire the roses, she needed to go to her appointment.
She decided to step out of the room and proceed to her scheduled meeting that morning.
Charrie was waiting for the elevator when Joe called.
"Birthday girl--hello," he greeted joyfully.
"Hi Joe, thanks!" she happily replied.
"Are you ready to collect your gift?" Joe asked, hinting about the contract signing.
"Of course, I'm about to meet them" she heard the sound of the elevator.
"By the way, Joe, thank you for the flowers. I love it. Thank the staff for me!" the elevator was about to open.
"Flowers?" Joe asked, confused.
"Yes! Talk with you later. I'm inside the elevator," she pressed the elevator to the floor of the dining area.
Joe was puzzled at what Charrie uttered. They did not send her flowers. Who did?
The meeting and contract signing took place in a private room inside the dining area. There were four representatives from the client-side. However, Charrie was the only one representing their company. Even though she was alone, she addressed all concerns. The partner was happy, and so was she. Finally, they signed the contract. They also took pictures to document the occasion. The meeting lasted for two hours due to some details they cleared among themselves, and also feast on the brunch meal the Tanaka group prepared for a mini celebration.
"Congratulations, Mr. Tanaka!" they bowed and made a handshake at the end of the mini celebration.
"Congratulations, Ms. Gonzalez, excellent business for both of our companies," it was obvious that Mr. Tanaka was delighted about their partnership.
"Have you received an invitation to the event on Friday?" Charrie had requested the event organizer to send him the invitation so that the group could witness what her company, the ES Group, had accomplished thus far.
"Yes, Yes, and expect us there," excitedly, he replied.
"We will see you there. Thank you again for your confidence in us." Charrie bowed.
Charrie left with her signed contract in hand. She went straight to the elevator. Charrie had decided to change into something more comfortable before taking the day off and starting her planned activity.
She was about to push the "up" button when she heard a familiar baritone voice.
"Business... done already?" the voice came from her back.
She lost her balance when she turned around. She swayed. She could almost feel that her bottom would land on the floor.
Luckily, Hyan quickly clasped her body with his arm before she hit the floor. She ended up encircled in his strong arms, and their bodies were so close together she could feel his warmth penetrating her skin.
And Charrie smelled the man's fresh perfume mixed with his manly scent; She was captivated and almost hypnotized by his presence. Charrie could not move right away. Moments passed, and they remained enclosed in each other's arms.
Both of them stood still as if in a magical spell.
The sound of the elevator door opening broke the spell and sent them back to their senses.
"Are you alright?" Hyan asked while assisting her towards the open door of the elevator.
"Of course, I lost my balance," she answered meekly. Her heart skipped several beats.
"Be careful; I told you not to travel alone," Hyan teased her.
"Oh! Oh! Yes!"She murmured, feeling so embarrassed. "I didn't expect to see you here," she asked when she recovered from her embarrassment.
"Yes! Of course, did I frighten you? I am sorry!" Chucking, Hyan answered and outright asked for an apology.
"No--but--.Why are you here?"
"I wanted to greet a beautiful lady... personally," They stepped out of the elevator together and on their way to Charrie's suite.
Charrie remained speechless. Her mind was busy figuring out about him. Hyan knew it was her birthday, it seemed. Did he ask her yesterday? She couldn't remember talking about personal matters. How come he knew? Or...Hyan wasn't referring to her; he might be visiting someone else?
Then Hyan put a stop to her endless questions. He confirmed who he was visiting in the hotel.
"Happy Birthday, Charrie!" his eyes were shining brightly.
In shock, she looked at Hyan blankly, "H-how come you knew about i-it?" she stuttered.
"Aren't we friends already?" he asked, smiling like a fox.
Friends? She continued to look at him with a blank expression. When did they become friends?
"On f*******:! Am I not your "shadow" friend?" he arced his one brow and tilted his head slightly.
Hyan confirmed his account name, "Shadow."
Charrie heaved a deep sigh and nodded her head, "Oh, I see! Thank you so much!" She remembered that they were indeed friends on sss, and he accepted the friend request he sent to himself. Yes, they were friends...but only on sss.
"Did I get the right color of roses?" Hyan queried.
He uttered another question that almost blew her mind.
"It's--it's from you?!" Charrie exclaimed, realizing it was not her staff who sent her the beautiful flowers.
"Yes!" he chuckled. He was so amused at Charrie's expressions. Stunned. Embarrassed. Confused.
Charrie heaved another deep breath, shaking off the tension inside of her.
After a while, she uttered.
"It's beautiful. Thank you! But...You don't need to!" Charrie was still flustered.
They were standing by her suite door.
Suddenly, a group of people appeared. Those were guests of the hotel, and they were looking at Hyan. Good thing the lights by the corridor were not so bright, and Hyan was wearing a cap and shades even inside the hotel. He instantly lowered his head and turned to Charrie.
"We should get inside first. You see, my problem is, I cannot stay long in one place; otherwise, people will notice." He whispered in Charrie's ear before he could be recognized.
"Your key card, please," he referred to her door key.
"Oh! Of course, here it is." Realizing that people may recognize Hyan, she allowed him to open her suite door.
When they were inside the suite, she had let him sit on the sofa, "Please make yourself comfortable. Can I offer you coffee?" It was better to talk inside rather than in the corridor since people might see him. Anyway, she has a receiving area in her suite.
He smiled, meaning he agreed to the coffee. Charrie nervously prepared a cup of coffee for him. She was not comfortable entertaining guests in her suite, especially if she was alone. However, Hyan was not somebody who would hurt another person.
"What's your plan for the day?" she heard him speak.
"Nothing specific but, I might go out later." She had just finished brewing the coffee and pouring it into a cup.
"Okay, then let's go wherever you want." Hyan declared.
She almost dropped the cup she was carrying on the floor.
"What?" she exclaimed. "We--us-- going together?" tilting her head and staring at him addled.
"Yup! You have me for the rest of the day!" he declared confidently, spreading his arms on the chair, looking so comfortable.
"Oh! Oh! That cannot be possible!" Charrie shook her head repeatedly. Spending time with a famous personality was not her idea of enjoyment.
But--Hyan wouldn't allow her to refuse.
"Of course, it's possible, and I do not have anything to do today! So--as long as we move and don't stay in one place for too long, we will be fine. Otherwise, people will notice us and camp!" Hyan explained how it was perfectly alright for him to spend the day with her.
"But.." she wanted to protest, but he cut her off...
"No buts. Let's just do it!" Hyan's smile widened, and it reached his eyes.
He was excited, Charrie could tell, and it made it even harder for her to resist him.
"Oh my! He's gorgeous! Did he really tell me that... he would be my date for the day?" Charrie murmured to herself.
She had been using her mind so much since he met the man. She hit the wall every time Hyan spoke. She was never like this, she was usually on top of the situation. Why did he affect her?--even that she didn't know the answer.
But--moments like this were hard to come by--meeting someone everybody wants to spend a day with only comes once in a blue moon. And it was her birthday--she was entitled to be out of her mind on the most important day of her life.
She closed her eyes, thinking about it carefully, and arrived at a decision, "Be crazy, Charrie! It's another birthday gift! Enjoy it."
It would be better to spend the day with a famous man than spend her birthday alone. It could be an adventure she never expected.
She opened her eyes and then said, "If you insist, then it's a YES! Let's enjoy my birthday!"
Hyan chuckled. It was going to be a good day, he thought. "Change into something more comfortable and a pair of sneakers, maybe? Let's not be tired at the end of the day!"
"Sure! I'll get ready for some walking!" She uttered enthusiastically.
Hyan snorted in amusement. Finally, she agreed. He had not done it in a long time, and he looked forward to a funny and relaxing day with the birthday lady.
