"So how has work been? Mr CEO? " She asked softly as they began walking down the street. "Did anything happen with you recently? " He asked back, stopping to face me. Did he notice the quaver in her voice? "What do you mean? " She hid her unease with a smile. "You know what I mean " "No I do not " "Did something unusual happen? " He arched a brow. He's not one to ask a question too many times, he always got angry and ended up beating up the person for making him repeat himself. But her... He can't even raise a finger on her. She looked so harmless and innocent, but he could tell the smile she was giving him wasn't totally honest. She looked disturbed...more disturbed than usual. "No! You're the only unusual thing that's happened to me " " Is that so? Nothing else?" " Why do you keep questioning me? Do you think I would lie to you? Or is there something you're not telling me" " Why are you getting so worked up? It's only a question" he said as smoothly as ever. As for her, she was already sweating a bit and he could notice it " Well as soon as you asked once that should have been the end, but you kept on repeating it making it look like I was lying to you or something, and you just made me feel bad about myself and everything is just so confusing and I begin to wonder what I should do and... " Now she was just blabbing on and on about things that made no sense at all. He never knew Alexa had this side of easily giving herself away whenever she was lying. She was always the composed one, the one that didn't act like she cared...she's not as readable and this. Sick of listening to her, he faced the road again and began walking straight and away from her. She yelled and ran to catch up with him before he went too far. "Have you ever been to the Amusement park? " She asked after a while of them just walking and looking around. "Why? " "Because we are going to one now " she Smiled cheekily at him. The moment they rounded up a corner, a park was right in front of them. James had Showed her the place more than a week ago since it wasn't so far from the house and could be trekked. It was a good thing she had her purse with her, and some money. She hoped the place would be fun enough for him, and would wipe away THAT look off his face. She would really love to see him smiling and laughing as they ride one of those babies! And maybe another time, she would take him to the zoo. Or some other place fun! "Come on, let's go ride the ferris wheel first! " She was surprised he didn't say No! Like he used to. They sat down beside each other and strapped in just before the machine before moving, rotating in a circular motion. The higher they climbed, the more she clinged onto him for dear life. She's never been a fan of heights before, and now that she thought of it she can't remember when last she climbed any of these machines. The only person that she brought to a park sometimes was Dave, and she would just sit by and watch him ride about clapping and yelling excitedly. That boy was never afraid. "You were afraid and you got on? " He asked her when they finally got down, and she was looking like she was about to puke. " What's so wrong with that? It's a free world" she remarked, shrugging without a care before she pulled him again towards the roller coasters. They got on the toy trains, the Trackless trains, the haunted house and even the cedar point. She had stepped out of the house scared out of her pants while Adrian had came out with his arms folded, like they hadn't just been chased by something that resembled a skeleton. Infact with that look on his face, he's been the one who scared most of scary faces inside the house. And as for the cedar point, she had screamed all the way. How could something be so high! She had grabbed his arm and buried her head inside them, praying fervently for it to just stop. Uggghhhhh, What was going on with her? Why can't she man it all up? Adrian had watched her the whole time, wondering why she kept paying and making them climb or do things that could make her sick. Her face was looking pale right now as they got down from the cedar, and it looked like she could no longer hold it in. She was puking into a near by plant the next second. "You overdid yourself " he commented, watching as she took a seat nearby, trying to catch her breath. "It's nothing " she said, them mumbled underneath her breath, "They don't seem to be cheering him up. It's not working at all " Adrian was once again caught speechless. She was doing all this to cheer him up? That just...sounds so new to his ears. She knows it's bad for her, but she keeps going extra mile, all for him? How Crazy is she? "Did you bring your car? Would you like to go to the beach? I know somewhere that's usually cool and quiet just around this time. And it's so nice " " Let's get you back home" He said instead. " It's boring there! I wanna be out there, let's have fun okay?" Without waiting for a reply, she grabbed his arm and dragged him out of the park. By the time they approached his car, she was completely out of breath again. "Why...why are you so heavy? " She asked breathlessly. "I wasn't even pulling back " he shrugged She waved it off, " Let's get going then" "No! " And there it is "What do you mean no?! " She asked in frustration, " Adrian?! " " Go home" he said. "I already told you, it's boring there " "If you insist, then let's make a deal " "I don't like this " she pouted like a little child " You wanna go home or the beach?" "Beach of course" " Then it's a deal. We would go to this beach of yours now, and in return you'll tell me the unusual thing that happened to you" He said to her, his eyes gone from blank to completely serious, " Do I make myself clear? " She smiled internally, coming up with a brilliant plan, "Fine, let's go then " They parked the car just by the beach and were sitting on the bonnet of the car. Just like she had said, the place was so nice and quiet. The wind was just like, and they could see the whole ocean ahead of them with the waves crashing across the shore. They sat down side by side, without saying a word to each other. She had wanted the day to be more fun, but had ended up not accomplishing anything. Well, he had warned her before that he was heartless. A heartless person doesn't smiles much does he? They don't care about anything. They don't bother themselves about other people. All they care about is themselves and probably their goals. Ah, that's it. She was about to ask him about his goals, when something else caught her attention. "Look, the sun is setting! " She pointed at the far away sky, where the sun was already dissapearing under the sea giving off that red like light, and colouring the close skies with red too. It was one of the most beautiful sights in the world, and she couldn't help but sigh softly when she saw it. She would really like to bring Jess here too one day to see this magic. She would definitely love it! "Adrian, have you ever seen the sun set before? " She asked without taking her eyes off it. "Countless times. Now it's just boring " he replied. "Boring? This can never been boring. It's beautiful, and it always will be. don't you just agree? " She said watching it dreamily. " Yes. It's not completely bad. Not so ugly. It's just alright" " Not so ugly? The sunset is..." She finally tore her eyes off the sun and faced him so she could make her point much more clearer, but the moment she caught him staring at her...all words vanished from her lips and she felt like she had been caught hook and net. The look in his eyes were very much different this time. It wasn't lust. It wasn't love. It wasn't anything she could recognize. All she knew was that it was very intense, and was making her heart speedup. The doves, the doves always whispering inside his head telling him to do more bad things. He had managed to keep them at Bay but when a new problem arises they would swarm into his head again and he won't be able to control it. Yet, whenever she was around...the doves wouldn't be so close anymore. She had that effect on him ever since he found out she was his mate on that day she stepped into his office. But, Nothing lasts forever. He won't get attached for any reason. Infact, he can't even let them continue like this...he has to do something sooner or later. He was the bad guy, he's always been. He has to purge those in his way and right now he's wondering why he's here spending time with her when he has some more investigation to do. There's someone that's after him, someone with schemes that could bring him down. An actual threat. A Shapeshifter, that's an Alpha in his own territory. Gently, Adrian raised his hand and cupped her soft face with it. She looked like an entirely different person to him now, and felt like it too. Her soft skin was warm and tender to his, and she also gently cupped his face in her hands, her lips stretching into a smile. "You're mine " he deadpanned. He wanted to do so many things with her, but he held back. Before he could move away from her, her small arms came around his neck and she hugged him instead. Peace. Inner peace. His problems would vanish for that moment. It's just her. Nothing else. Yet, his hands wouldn't hug her back. The highest he could go was to wrap one arm around her, not pulling her too close. By the time they pulled back, the stars were already out and it was dark. Then, they drove back to her house. Without another word, he dropped her of and zoomed away, leaving her to watch the back of his car. Then, she turned around and walked into the house. Even before he arrived back at his home, he could sniff it in the air. An unexpected visitor was waiting for him there.
