Everything was getting set, and it was remaining only two days till she would go and see Adrian at the office. James had been really nice and helpful, nothing like his sister Alexa. He helped with shopping for new dresses that she would wear from now on, showed her pictures of people that Alexa knew, how she knew them and how they behaved. Her questions were always given convincing answers, and the rest was now up to her.
Right now she was headed to the small house where Jess and Dave were now living. She went to see them at least twice a day, and always spent a considerable amount to time with them, except days James needed her to be home to explain more things to her. She noticed that most people walking across the street, or the neighbors tend to ignore her, but they talked to James casually. She quickly understood that they probably didn't like Alexa for her attitude, and since they don't know she's not Alexa...Well it's ok.
It was nighttime just around seven when she strode towards the house. The night air was warm against her cheeks, and not so much people were on the street tonight. Then, she came across an alley she usually walked by, between two huge mansions. Normally, it used to be bright, lot up with bulbs, but it seems they had turned off the lights today.
The Alley suddenly reminded her of what happened about six months ago, just around this time when she was talking past a dark Alley and heard a low growl from it. She remembered everything that happened like it was just yesterday.
She had begin contemplating on whether to walk in there and find out what was making that noise that sounded like it was in pain, and at the same time she just wanted to pretend like she didn't hear anything and just walk by quickly. But, her conscience wouldn't allow her. She was forced to remember Jack-Jack, the dog they once owned when her parents were still alive. It was almost the same sound he made whenever he was sick, just that this one was a lot deeper than his.
Praying fervently, she was walked Into the dark Alley only to find one of those Big hairy dogs lying on the floor, unable to move. When she had approached, it had first began growling even louder, but she had kept assuring it that she wasn't gonna hurt him... slowly approaching it with shaky hands till she managed to get it to calm down and touched it's furry skin. It's fur was sort of brown, or was it Ash in color? She couldn't tell cuz of the darkness.
It was having serious trouble breathing, and she could feel it's hot body temperature even through its furs. Within seconds, she had found out the cause of it's illness. A leg had been sort of poisoned, and it was spreading upward, heading to other part of it's body.
Panic kicked in, and she began to mutter encouraging words to herself even though she didn't know what to do to help it. She knew she had to move and do something, like find a veterinary clinic or hospital or something, but her hands wouldn't stop shaking.
She had to slap herself out of the shock and scare, and stood up about to call on someone to help, when the dog suddenly let out another groan, much more painful than the last one. To her, it sounded like it was telling her not to leave, and when she tried to move again...It gritted it's teeth and groaned again.
At the end, she had to do something herself.
Remembering a tactic which she hoped would work, she grabbed the affected leg, located the torn side where the poison had followed through inside it's body...and then she began sucking! She didn't know whether it was actually venom,or poison or whatever...
All she could think of was to keep sucking, whether some amount of blood followed. She would suck and spit it out, repeat and repeat, while hanging on to that hope that it was working...till she looked up and saw that the dog was breathing a little more better than before.
Relieved that her efforts had paid off, she had walked out of the alley to look around and see if there was anyone she could call out to, to help her. But, when she had turned around to look back at it... The dog wasn't there anymore.
Instead, A man lay there, lying on his stomach.
She had to clean her eyes several times to confirm it. He was sprawled out and naked from head to toe, with curly blonde hair... But she couldn't make out his facial features correctly. But, she had seen a mark on his neck... It looked like a birth mark but shaped like the paw of an animal, a paw with long claws.
Apart from that, there was a tattoo drawing filling his entire back. The head of a wolf with red eyes, and two swords crossing the head, but there was a crown sitting on the head. At the left side, a serpent was wrapped around one of the swords and on the left...was a dragon.
Bella was surprised. Wow, Tattoo artists keep getting better and better. Whoever drew all this on his back had to be the best tattoo artist out there or something...
But, a mystery still remains. Where was the dog lying here before?? Why is there a man here now? And why is he naked?
Damn it, if she wasn't so nice she wouldn't have left just to get him some clothes while asking for help. By the time she returned with some nurses and clothes...The stranger was nowhere to be found.
She remembered how she had struggled to walk into the Alley when she had first heard it's groan. Alleys make her recall a bad memory of something that happened to her there, and she had been so scared at that time. She had been conflicted had almost concinced herself to just ignore and walk away.
Now she asked herself, If she had walked away, would anyone else had heard it's mournful groans and helped? Because the whole time she was helping the dog, no one else had walked by.
And one more thing...Was that really a dog? Or did the darkness of the night shield it so she wouldn't recognize it completely?
"Mum! " Her son's voice sprang her out of her thoughts, and he came rushing into her arms like he always does. She picked him up, them poked his nose "It's high time I stopped picking you up, you're already eight! "
" Yes" he agreed himself, then he put on a brave face " I'm a big boy now!!"
She laughed, and he giggled before she walked into the main house to see Jess too!
Two days later.
Isabella wouldn't stop trembling. She has been standing in front of the mirror staring at herself. She was putting on a Red dress that hit just above her knee, and a milk coat on top of it since it was a bit cold outside. Red hot heels worn around her legs, and her hair had been dyed from red to blonde, the hair color of Alexa. For the past one week, she's been going through some intense skin care routines and it's paid off.
Now she looked Nothing less different than Alexa the first time she had seen her. Her black bag, she already knew worth millions just like everything else she was putting on. Her make-up had been put on herself, nothing too intense since she already had a natural dazzling look.
" Ready? " James, who had been standing behind her all this while asked. There was a small smile on his face as he watched her through the mirror.
" Yes" she lied, taking in a deep breath, "I'll be on my way now " she Added.
Just as she was about to walk past him, he stopped her by the arm and said, "Remember everything, and you'll do just fine "
James had the prettiest eyes she had ever seen. Twinkling hazel medium eyes, and eye lashes that were just as beautiful. He was handsome and wanted from all she had noticed, the way the neighbors liked to flirt with him a lot, mostly the ones that were unmarried.
James would be amongst the top five most handsome men she had ever seen.
She nodded, "Thank you "
" Do you want me to accompany you? " He asked, his hand still on her arm.
" Let me see what I can do on my own"
He nodded, letting her walk past him. James watched her the entire time till the Chaffeur drove the car away, pulling her out of his sight. Isabella, he would have sworn she was Alexa's lost twin if not for the strong memory that he was right there when his mother had given birth to only one girl, not two girls. Isabella was nothing like Alexa... Well except the fact that they both cared about what they loved. Apart from that, he hasn't noticed anything similar about them again.
There was something wrong with him. It's only been a week. What is wrong with his heart?
Isabella was now climbing up the stairs, headed straight for the man's office. He had texted her with the new phone James had given her for communicating with people Alexa knew, and Adrian had texted her to meet him today. As she climbed up the stairs, she realized one problem that could affect this mission of hers.
She can't use the elevator, but Alexa can.
She didn't expect anyone to recognize her except the head cleaner since she had no friends here. So, in a few minutes she was standing in front of the CEOs office. She noticed that at that time his secretary wasn't at his table so she would have to knock and tell him she was here herself.
On getting to the door, Bella paused.
An uneasy feeling crept up her body. Something didn't feel right. Her instincts told her to run, but her hand was already on the door knob.
No! She knocked first Instead.
" Come in " She heard a voice from inside.
Adrian. It had to be him.
She turned the door knob around and pushed the door open, letting herself inside, but she immediately regretted doing that. Her fingers were still around the knob, meaning she still has the chance to quickly run away. But, her legs weren't listening to her anymore.
She couldn't believe what she was seeing.
A man she recognized as Adrian Kingston was standing with his fist around the neck of another man who was hanging on the air, getting choked by Adrian himself. She thought that was the scary part, till Adrian turned and looked her way...
Red Eyes. The man had red eyes. Scarlett Red eyes.
"Close the door and Grab a seat. I'll be with you soon " He said, his voice thick and deep.
