A very long time ago
Standing on top of the hill, Summer watched a few members of the troop doing the daily drill.
On one side, the fighters were sparring using the blades and spears while the others were on hand-to-hand combat. In the huge field, other women were having an exercise while astride atop the horse.
“How are the recruits?”
She turned to the woman who stood behind her. She bowed her head a little before she returned her attention back to the field.
Women of different physiques and sizes were loitering the area. Each has a partner for practice combat.
“They were back on track but needs more practice on hand-to-hand. They rely on spears, not on their capacity to defend.”
The other woman nodded.
