M I L E S 12:07. "Miles?" I hear my Mate's sweet voice as she lays her head on my chest and I run my fingers through her hair slowly. "Hm?" She raises her head to look at me, a small frown settling on her brows. "Can I talk to you about something?" She asks, looking a little nervous. "Yeah of course," "We are both Alphas... but I can't be both an Alpha and the Luna you want me to be... I have to put my Pack first..." She tells me and I sigh as my fingers continue to tangle in her soft hair. "You're already the Luna I need. You're intelligent, strong, powerful..." I say to her, smiling slightly. "But... I am also an Alpha." Mackenzie says firmly and I sigh a bit. "It sounds complicated, I know... but I don't want to talk about that right now, I just want to enjoy this time with you," I say, caressing her cheek with my thumb. "Okay..." She mumbles before leaning up to kiss my lips softly. I close my eyes as I hold a kiss with her, placing my hand on her cheek, feeling her soft plump lips that I can never get enough of. Today she invited me over, as well as some of my close friends, just to get acquainted with since we are all going to be training together. Today's training session was already over so we are just taking a little bit of a breather. I was glad to see my friends get along with hers, all of them being totally supportive of us being Mates. She continues to kiss me, our kiss becoming more passionate as she slowly climbs onto my laps, straddling me and I feel my Wolf stir inside me. I growl as I grip onto her waist, running my hands underneath her top and running over her smooth skin, making her growl lowly. I quickly turn us over till I am hovering over her, pinning her arms down and kissing her lips a little roughly, hearing her moan against my lips, both our lips trying to dominate the other. I move my lips to her neck and begin to kiss it intensely; feeling her wrap her legs around my waist and run her fingers through my hair, driving me insane. "If we don't stop now I don't think I'll be able to control myself any longer..." I growl against her neck, grazing my canines against her skin lightly, aching to mark her as mine. Great, now my Wolf and I are not the only ones excited... I hear her exhale quietly before I feel her place her hands on my chest, pushing me off her slightly and I do as she wants and get off her, sitting beside her and taking a deep breath as I stare at her. "I'm sorry... I just really needed to do that." She chuckles a little nervously. "It's fine, no need to apologize." "It's just; I want it to be perfect you know... I want it to be a perfect night." She explains and I nod. "I want that too, and it will be," I say, kissing the side of her head, and standing up from the bed, facing away from her. "Miles?" I hear her question. "Yeah?" "Are you mad?" She asks. "No," I tell her and shake my head. "Then why are you over there...?" "Because... not every part of me has accepted the fact that we should do this another time," I say a little bit embarrassed of my dumb friend downstairs. "Oh... oh my gosh... I'm sorry." I hear her begin to laugh. "It's not funny and you don't sound sorry." I snap at her defensively as she continues to laugh. "Hey, it's not my fault I'm this sexy." She says cockily and I turn to her. "You know I can smell you, right?" I tell her and her smile slowly fades. "Your arousal... and it's driving me insane," I say purposely in a low husky voice, sensing her become even more aroused, a blush forming on her cheeks. "Shut the f**k up." She hisses and this time I'm the one laughing. There are a few knocks on the door, making both of us shift our attention to the door. "Who is it?" Mackenzie asks, getting up and running a hand through her hair to fix it. "Jade. We're going for a run and we were wondering if you guys wanted to come with us." I hear her say through the door as Mackenzie turns to face me. "Wanna go for a run?" She asks arching her eyebrows. "Sounds awesome." . . . . . M A C K E N Z I E "Dude, obviously they do." Brett, Miles' Beta, says as he continues to argue with Ethan. After becoming acquainted with Miles' friends, we all decide to rest by this cool spot my friends and I liked to chill at after a run. A place that is open, with a clear view of the sky and a soft bed of grass for us to rest on. Amongst Miles friends are Brett, Kaitlyn; Brett’s Mate, Zach, the Gamma and Mate of Hillary and finally Elliot, the only one out of their group without a Mate. Like Brett and Elliot, Kaitlyn has got long dirty blonde hair, except hers flows just below her bust in large, bouncy curls, her eyes a soft, pale green. Zach, resembles Ethan in a way, both of them having dark hair except Zach’s complexion is a little more tanned than Ethan’s while his Mate, Hillary, has got curly brown hair and brown eyes just like Miles, her ethnicity a blend or Danish and South African. Unlike the rest of us, Hillary seems to be super mellow and calm and barely speaks unless she is spoke, but I guess she just needs a bit of time to her used to us. I zoned out a little as I lay against Miles' large grey Wolf, sighing at how soft his fur is as I stare up the blue sky, watching the white fluffy clouds float by slowly. "Have you ever seen one? How would you know?" Ethan backfires, and I look at him, seeing that some of the girls had agreed with him. "Everyone knows Royals have powers bro." Alexander joins. "No they don't babe, come on." Denise chimes in making Alex look at her with a little shock. "I think they do." I say, joining into their argument and I feel Miles huff behind me, obviously disagreeing with me, making me chuckle and let out a small "hey" as he makes me move from my comfortable position. There have been rumours of Royals having powers but no one has ever seen it for sure. You see, in the whole world, there is only one Alpha King and Luna Queen, the rulers of all the Packs in the world. Just like how every Pack has an Alpha and Luna, they are basically the Alpha of Alphas and the Luna of Lunas. "I hear the daughter has the power to control anyone's mind and make them do whatever she wants..." Zach, Miles' Gamma speaks up, making some of them roll their eyes. “Those are just rumours…” Hillary mumbles and this is first time I’m hearing her voice since she introduced herself. Still, I’m glad she’s starting to feel more comfortable. "Why are you guys so sceptical though. We are supernatural creatures, I'm sure some of us have powers-" I am interrupted by the loud rustling of winds and air, circling around us like a tornado. "What the..." I say and quickly stand to my feet, trying to see through all the clouds of dust flying into the air as we all try to comprehend what is happening. "What kind of freak tornado is this?!" Ethan yells out loud as the winds get stronger. Then I sense a change. New scents. The winds stop all of a sudden and I open my eyes to see about 8 new people standing in front of us, some of them snarling and growling at us while the rest simply stare at us. Rogues... and... one of them is, a Witch. It must be the woman with the short curly Afro and dark skin because as soon as she drops her hands, all the violent winds stop. How dare they come on my territory twice this week? What audacity. I thought I'd be furious and would rip them apart on site but no... I'm oddly calm. I grin and clap my hands together. "Hello, friends! Welcome! Here to join the party? There's enough room for all of us!" I cheer happily as the Rogues stare at me totally confused. Hell, everyone there is confused. "That little hocus pocus trick of yours was rather impressive. What was it? Ara-qweya, or some s**t? Whatever. Listen, today I'm in a really good mood, so if you leave right now, I let you leave with your livers, deal?" I ask and watch some of them give each other nervous looks. "Now boys, you don't have to be scared of a little thing like her." A deep male voice says among the group. Then I sense a more prominent scent. One of an Alpha. I turn to the direction of the voice to see a man step out of the group who looks like he is in his early 20's. Everyone regains their defensive stances and moves forward, Miles moving towards me and snarling at whoever the man is, nudging his head against me and barking loudly. "Who the hell are you?" Jade seethes beside me, her eyes flashing a light purplish colour. "Nate, Alpha Nate Maddox. Pleasure, I'm sure." He smiles a boyish smile as his eyes shift back to me. I can't believe this. "You're the Rogue King..." I growl at him and his grin widens at me and before I know it, he speeds up to me, standing meters from me but before he reaches me, Miles is quick to take him down, pinning him down against the ground with his paws. The Rogues lunge forward to attack after seeing their leader taken down and just like that the battle had begun. With every Rogue that comes my way, I try not to kill them, it is the Alpha that I want dead... I feel something sharp poke my skin and look down at the source of pain to see a small dot of blood right on my arm. Miles. I begin to panic and look around to see if I can find him, stopping all my movements as soon as my eyes land on him. "Miles...?" I whimper as I stare at his lifeless Wolf lying on the ground. My heart thumps loudly as my feet instinctively carry me forward to run over to him but I feel myself get tackled to a tree, the air being whipped out of me as my back collides with the tree. I growl in irritation and squeeze my eyes shut as the pain shoots through my entire body before opening them to see who has tackled me. "You..." I growl, staring at the Rogue King in front of me. His full lips form into a smirk as he places his arm over my chest across my shoulders, his face dangerously close to mine. "Me." He speaks, his breath fanning my face. I expected to be repulsed by his mere presence but, I feel... drawn to him. His scent... Granny Smith apples and, caramel. His, dark chocolate hair... His, piercing green eyes... I find myself not being able to move, only stare at the man in front of me. Why can't I move? "I- I..." Nicole is unable to even speak. He moves closer to me, our faces inches apart and he stares down at me, his eyes shifting to dark green. Lust. His head moving to the crook of my neck as he slowly takes in my scent, sending shivers across my body. Why the f**k can't I move. "You're even more beautiful up close." He purrs and at the sound of his voice, I feel my insides melt. No. He is the enemy. I can't let him to this me, whatever he's doing to me. I come to my senses and drive my arm upwards and over his, breaking out of his hold before spinning us around and holding him against the tree instead. "Try that again and I'll rip your lungs out through your back." I threaten, squeezing his throat with my hand tightly as I come back to my senses. He then breaks free of my hold and speeds us over to another tree, spinning me back against it again. Damn it, he is stronger than I anticipated... "Oh, there's no way I'm letting you go that easily. We just met." He speaks lowly, still smirking at me. And just like that, I can't move again. He tucks a few loose strands of hair with his free hand behind my ear, staring at me with wonder before his head moves to my ear. "But, unfortunately, I have things to sort out... see you soon, my love..." He whispers by my ear and abruptly lets go of me, whipping the wind out of me a second time. He reassembles with the rest of his Rogues and his Witch, standing in the same spot they came. "Oana..." Nate says to the Witch and she raises her hands again, smiling at me. "Araquaya." She lets out and the familiar gushes of wind circulate around them. I shield my eyes with my arm to avoid dust getting into my eyes, only to open them and see that they have disappeared already. I'm still frozen. What the f**k just happened... "Is everyone okay?" Ethan lets out as he looks around as everyone tries to recover from what just happened. "Y-yeah... we're good." Denise hisses as Alexander helps her off the ground, holding onto her side in pain. "Miles..." I finally say just as I go over to him, seeing his Wolf still laying on the ground. I fall on my knees and begin examining him, feeling his fur and as I do I hear him whine faintly. "Wha-.. what's wrong with him?" I mumble, trying to fight back my tears. Shannon comes over to inspect him, blood dripping from the gash on the side of her head which seems to be healing already. "Uhm... I think he might be paralyzed..." She says as she slowly lifts his paw, making him whine again. "Mackenzie..." I hear his voice in my head, startling me. I almost thought it was... "I can't move, but everything hurts at the same time..." He tells me, his voice raspy. "He- He says he can't move but everything still hurts," I tell Shannon and she frowns a little before looking around. "Kaitlyn... toss me that syringe on the ground over there." She says to Kaitlyn, and she does as asked, tossing the syringe to Shannon just as she catches it and begins to inspect it. "Hm... I think it might be a mixture of concentrated Wolfsbane and a small percentage of liquid Aremethium." She explains after examining the remaining yellow liquid in the syringe. You guys might be familiar with Wolfsbane and its effect on us Werewolves, but you might not be familiar with Aremethium. Aremethium is a deadly gas formed from the Aremeth plant and once exposed to Werewolves and other supernatural beings, can cause them to lose their abilities while prolonged exposure will lead to a Viraai ceasing to be a Werewolf completely... and eventually dying. "He'll be back to normal in less than an hour, we should take him to a more comfortable place," Shannon advises and I nod. "Guys..." I say and Alexander, Zach, Miles’ Gamma, and Brett help lift Miles off the ground, Miles letting out a pained whine as they carry him. "You okay...?" Ethan asks coming over to me as I watch them carry Miles away. I finally get to process what just happened. That was the Rogue King and I thought I would've been able to kill him... but, I couldn't... something was stopping me from taking his life. He was the Rogue King... meaning he is most likely responsible for this War... but I somehow forgot all that during our encounter. I inhale through my nose and glance back at Ethan. "I'm fine. You should get cleaned up." I say to him, following behind the guys as they carry Miles towards the Packhouse. . . . . . 21:56. "As most of you are already aware, the Pack that attacked us today was none other than the Rogue Pack. We are certain that their Alpha, Nate Maddox has been responsible for most of the destruction of several Packs. He's a manipulator and a master in the martial arts and very skilled in combat." I tell everyone at the emergency Pack meeting I had scheduled after Ethan helped me dig up info about Nate Maddox and the Rogues. "Everyone must be alert at all times. The Rogues have found a new way to get onto our territory which is teleportation, but no need to worry, we are working now to make sure that magic will not work on this territory, that way Wolves will not suffer at the hands of Witches." I explain to them as Alex and Ethan glance and me with a bit of surprise. Okay, so I winged it. But I have to make sure my people feel safe. "That will be all for today. You are all dismissed, enjoy your evening." I say to them and the lot of them bow in respect before going their separate ways. "You were serious about that?" Alexander asks as they both approach me once the people had dispersed. "Yeah, it sounds like a good idea." "A heads up might be nice next time though." Ethan let out and a sigh. "I'm sorry... there's a lot going through my head right now," I mutter, placing my hands on my hips. "What's going on with you? You've been acting weird since the Rogues attacked us." Alexander questions and I frown a little as I think about Alpha Nate again. "I'm... I'm just, really worried about Miles is all." I say briefly, making eye cøntact with them only to see them looking at me worried. "Yeah but since Alpha Na-" "I'm, gonna go check on Miles. See you guys tomorrow, goodnight." I blurt out quickly and begin walking away, ignoring their calls as I do. I don't want to keep thinking about him... I only want to think about Miles. He is my Mate. I jog up the stairs to retreat to the safety of my room and open the door, finding Miles talking out loud while slipping on his shirt. "I said I'm fine Mom... I swear." He drawls out and glances at me. "Okay baby, I just wanted to make sure, I've been worried since your Father told me what happened. Make sure you take care of yourself okay, and your Mate as well, hm?" A woman's voice says on speakerphone. "I will Mom. I love you." Miles says staring at me with a small smile. "I love you more." She replies softly just before the line cuts. "You told your Mom about me?" I smile at him, walking towards him. "Yeah of course I did, and she really wants to meet you when she's back from Viraania." He says back, sitting back on the bed and exhaling deeply. "Hey... how are you feeling?" I ask, going to sit beside him. "I'm fine, just a little sore." He says as I frown slightly. "Babe... I'm fine." Miles lets out, pulling me close to embrace him, sighing as I rest my head on his chest and listen to his heart thump softly. "I was just really scared about today..." I mumble, finding myself feeling vulnerable with him; a feeling I've barely ever felt. "Stop... I'm here. I'm okay, so is everyone else. I promise never to leave your side, okay my love?..." He speaks and kisses the side of my head. Wait. I slowly pull away from him and stare at him, feeling my heart race in my chest. "Say that again…" I ask slowly, sitting up straight. He looks at me with a confused expression. "My love..." He repeats and the same warmth I feel is my chest, is exactly what I felt when Alpha Nate said it to me… No. Way. There’s no f*****g way way this is possible… But I might just have to face it, whether I like it or not…
