09:50.
"What the f**k are you doing here?" Miles growls loudly, keeping his eyes locked on Nate and taking a stand in front of me protectively as he continues to growl viciously.
"Oh you know, just... visiting." He says slyly, smirking at me as he casually leans against a tree, biting his lower lip seductively and eyeing me from head to toe.
"Hey, beautiful..." He winks at me, making my breath hitch.
"Fa'dra... his voice is so..." My Wolf curses in Viraanian, whining quietly.
In a split second Miles runs up to him and grabs him by the throat, pinning him up against the tree he was leaning on.
"Give me one good reason why I shouldn't rip your heart out right now." Miles seethes, tightening his grip on Nate's throat.
I can feel Miles' rage and anger but at the same time I feel oddly calm... and then that's when the pain starts.. the pain in my throat followed by the uneasiness and lightheadedness...
I feel it throb painfully as I place my hand over it, clearing my throat slightly and frowning at the two of them.
"Because you..." Nate pauses for a dramatic effect, looking Miles in the eye. "Need me."
"Miles... put him down," I say calmly, failing to speak properly since my throat is closing with every passing minute. I have conditioned myself to certain amounts of pain; it was part of my training, but Miles' grip is so tight and strong... I feel like I am suffocating.
As soon as Miles hears my voice, he growls at Nate again before his Miles' grip on his neck loosens and he finally lets go of him. Nate lands lightly on his feet and huffs at Miles, casually fixing his shirt and black jacket.
The second Miles lets go of him, I feel the pain in my throat begin to disappear but that has only left me with one giant predicament.
There's no way I can deny it now...
"So... why don't we get back to business?" Nate speaks up, stepping away from Miles.
"What do you mean we need your help?" I question him and place my hands on my hips, taking a few more steps closer to them. Soon as I do that, both of their gazes shift from my eyes to my body, staring at me possessively as their eyes darken with lust.
Great...
"Don't f*****g stare at her like that..." Nate growls at Miles, making his head snap to Nate.
"She's mine, why wouldn't I stare at her like that." Miles snaps back as he turns to Nate.
"Guys-"
"No, she is my Mate." The Rogue King claims and I feel my heart clench in my chest as my nerves kick in. Miles turns to me with a look of confusion and a little bit of hurt.
"What is he talking about Mackenzie...?" Miles asks me, his thick eyebrows furrowed up in anger.
"I um... I've been-" I am interrupted by a loud rustling of bushes and crunching of soil, making me turn to see that we are now surrounded by a group of people as well as Wolves surrounding us; Pack Guards.
"Alpha Mackenzie... we picked up the scent of a Rogue... and it lead us to...- Suroideita vari trey’rodoz! (Surround the trespasser!)" Isaac, Head Pack Guard yells a Viraanian command for everyone to get into their defensive positions as soon as they spot Nate. Each and every one of them growling at Nate as he simply looks around at everyone, completely unfazed.
"Stand down everyone. I will deal with him myself." I inform them, glancing at Miles for a while as he still stares at me with a deep frown.
I walk up in front of Nate and look up at him, trying as hard as possible not to get lost in those mystical green eyes of his. He stares back down at me, being at least a foot taller than me as his mouth remains slightly open, he too being mesmerised by being this close to me.
No... It all feels wrong.
Miles is my Mate.
But then... I have a feeling Nate is too... therefore the feeling is so right.
But I have to put that aside for now.
I must be an Alpha first.
I take a deep breath before mustering up the strength to punch him square in the jaw and knock him out completely, but not without hurting myself in the process.
"Fa'dra! Mackenzie!" My Viraai barks in my head as we'd feel the pain of our own punch. I pretend to hiss at the fake pain in my hand from punching Nate but really I'm reacting to the stinging sensation in my cheek caused by my own punch.
"Take him inside. As soon as he wakes up, we interrogate him." I instruct and a bunch of the Pack Guards come over to lift Nate's unconscious body off the ground. I watch as they do so, trying as much as possible to avoid Miles' gaze because I'm sure he has a million questions for me... but I just can't deal with that right now. I have to find out why Nate is here and what he wants.
"Mackenzie..." I hear Miles call once the Pack Guards had dispersed.
"Now's not the time..." I mumble and walk forward, following the Guards that are carrying Nate.
I feel him grab my arm forcefully to stop me from walking and I close my eyes and sigh just before turning around to look at him.
"Tell me what's going on." Miles lets out seriously.
"Nate was lying... you're my Mate." I lie.
Why?
No clue.
I know, it's a bad thing to start off a relationship with lies, but I don't know what else to do. I can't let our minds be clouded when we have more pressing matters at hand.
"Why would he lie about something so serious? And he didn't seem to be lying when he said what he said earlier." He pursues further.
"Because he's a sociopath? I don't know. Look, baby..." I say and walk up to him, placing a hand on his chest to help him calm down. "Don't think about this too much... right now we have to go interrogate him so we can get answers as to why he came here. Okay?"
I watch him exhale, remaining silent and clenching his jaw tightly before looking back at me. "Fine,"
As he says that I nod at him before proceeding to walk back to the Pack Guards but before I do, he grabs me again and pulls me back so that my chest collides with his. I gasp and stare up at him in confusion; meeting his grey eyes and watching them shift to a darker shade.
"Miles-."
"You're mine... and I'm never letting you go." He growls possessively at me, causing a few shivers to run down my body.
Well, this just got a whole lot more complicated...
. . . . .
10:18.
I toss a jug of cold water right onto Nate's face making him gasp out loud and jump in his seat, startled as he looks around in confusion.
"What the... oh, one of these." He lets out as he makes eye contact with me.
I stare at him, watching his hair drip and his white shirt get soaked, sticking to his skin and outlining his muscles.
Okay... maybe the water was a bad idea...
"There's no need for all this you know. I was already coming to tell you what I know." He speaks, looking at all 4 of us; Ethan, Alex, Miles and I.
"Then you can go ahead and tell us. We are listening." I say to him, crossing my arms.
He stares at me for a moment, exhaling through his nose. "I will only speak with you, Alpha."
"Not a chance." Miles growls.
"Yeah, we're not leaving you alone with this nut case." Ethan agrees.
"No... you will. It's the only way he'll give us the information we need." I say to them.
"We could always torture him." Miles seethes.
"No," I reply a little too quickly. "That'll just be a waste of time. Just give me a minute alone with him." I tell them, looking particularly at Miles.
"Fine. Call us if you need us." Alexander lets out as he and Ethan stare at Nate before they leave.
"Him too..." Nate speaks, referring to Miles.
Miles glares at Nate, just before he slyly grabs my waist and kisses me in front of Nate and I return his kiss despite feeling like I had just betrayed Nate...
"I'll be standing right by." He whispers to me and I nod at him just as he lets go of me and walks away, leaving me alone with Nate.
Nate and I stare at each other for a moment without saying anything, creating a sort of tension between us...
"Well... start talking-"
"How can you do that?" Nate asks as he looks at me with hurt. "I am your Mate... and you know it... I know you can feel it..."
"That's not what we are discussing at the moment-"
"So you do feel it. Our connection." He lets out, sitting up in his seat, leaning forward a bit.
I cross my arms and look away from him. "I can't have two Mates... I've already found Miles..." I mumble as I keep my eyes on the ground.
"Look at me." He commands. I inhale sharply and try as hard as possible not to listen to him.
I hear two distinct snaps and I look to him to see that he has easily broken out of his restraints and he is now looming over me, making me take a step back.
"I said. Look at me." He repeats and I look up at him, feeling my heart race in my chest. He is angry, frustrated but above all, he is enchanted...
"You are my Mate. And don't you try to deny it." He says to me before he takes hold of my hand and places it on his chest. The second his skin touches my own, I feel a buzzing, almost like electricity that runs from my hand all through my body.
Just like when I found Miles.
"You feel that?" He speaks softly.
"I don't... I don't understand." I mumble, looking up at him. The feeling is so hard to fight, the Bond is strong, and I can't hold it back.
I hear the door of the cellar open again and I turn around to see Miles standing in the doorway looking at the both of us with betrayal, completely furious.
"Mackenzie... what the f**k is going on...?" Miles hisses, taking a step forward.
"Miles-"
"She's my Mate and I need you to stay the f**k away from her." Nate steps in front of me, growling deeply at Miles.
"Guys stop it," I say as I try to stand between them but it is too late, they are already at each other's throats.
"No stop, stop it!" I yell as they wrestle with each other. I feel every single kick and punch and try as much as possible to hold back the pain and at the same time try to stop them from fighting.
Miles spears Nate and holds him down on the ground, his hands wrapped around Nate's neck in an attempt to choke him. Nate growls out loud and throws Miles off of him and onto the wooden chair that Nate was tied to earlier, breaking it instantly.
I whimper as I feel pain course through my abdomen and growl deeply at both of them as they go back to fighting each other.
Okay, I'm mad now.
"That's enough!" I yell and use my Werewolf speed to get between them. As soon as I touch both of their chests to try and separate them, I feel an excruciating burning sensation on both my hands.
"Ahhh!!" I hear my Wolf howl in pain.
Before anything else can happen, I manage to push both of them in opposite directions, each of them landing in each of the walls and leaving a large dent in them. I fall down to my knees feeling completely weak and drained, staring down at my shaky hands to see that my skin had been singed.
I look over to them to find them both staring at me, completely confused as they try to make sense of what had just happened. I stare at Nate who is looking down at his chest to see a hand-sized hole through his shirt as well as a red handprint on his chest that seemed to be disappearing, same thing with Miles when I look over to him as well.
"What the hell just happened?" Nate asks as he climbs out of the hole in the wall.
"I don't... feel well..." I mumble. My head spins, rapidly, spiraling and returning as it aches.
"Mackenzie...?" Miles calls out but it's already too late, I feel myself falling and I prepare myself to hit the ground but I never do.
"I've got you..." I hear Nate's soft voice say as he catches me, looking down at me with a concerned expression. I look up at him through heavy eyelids as he holds onto me.
"I've got you..." He repeats just my eyes close and I rest my head against his chest, blacking out completely.
