Chapter Ten

1217 Words
*Wyatt's POV* I feel like so much time has passed, and it’s only been a couple weeks. Every day I wait to see if Leah will come walking back into the pack house. I have tried to keep the peace, but I can feel myself slipping as Alpha and I can feel more tension between Josh and me. I know he is looking to be Alpha, but I am not ready to give up my position just yet. I need my power to fight if I need to in order to get Laura back. All the slaves have been let go and my cells are now almost empty. Only criminals are left. My plan is to set out on my own to find Leah. I can't wait any longer. A knock on my door catches my attention. "Come in." I speak. Josh walks in the door. "Alpha. Everything has been prepared for you to take your leave tonight." "Thank you, Josh., I know you will do a great job holding my position as Alpha." Without another word, Josh leaves my office and leaves me standing alone. I shut off the lights to my office and leave it. Heading to my room I can't help but think about how soon I may see Leah again by heading out myself. My plan is to stop and talk to neighboring packs, talk to witches, and even find the vampires. Someone will know something or be willing to help me. I get to my room and throw the lights on. Packing my bag, I throw it over my shoulder and head out the door. *Josh's POV* With Wyatt leaving it leaves me in charge and with that I plan to make changes. I am hoping my place will be permanent. This pack needs to chance, and Wyatt is so lost in his own mess that he no longer cares about what happens to this pack. Our army has slacked off and are we are not up to half the strength we used to be. The protection we used to have around the pack borders has dwindled and we have so many pack members who no longer have respect for their own Alpha. I plan to change all that with a pack meeting later tonight. Sitting in my driveway I see my mate through the window rocking our pup. It makes me smile to see the little things, but it also makes me think of everything that Wyatt is missing. I can't imagine the pain he went through but I also would never jeopardize my pack because of it. Walking into the house I kiss my mate and pup. There is so much I have done to protect my family and to build a future for them. "I am having the pack meeting tonight." I say to my mate. "Oh yea. Wyatt finally left and left you in charge? I hope you can make the right changes that this pack needs." "I will, I just hope it's never found out that I am the one that gave the other pack the info that got Leah kidnapped. If they find that out, I will lose my position and we will be kicked out of the pack." "I know baby, let’s just hope that never happens." Kissing her on the forehead, "It's been a long day and I am going to go lay down for a bit before I have to leave for the pack meeting." I take my leave and head into our room to lay down. My shoulders feel heavy with the weight of lies I have hidden from the pack and Wyatt. I have been spying on our pack for months now, with trying to take over as Alpha. Wyatt is just so caught up in his own mess that he hasn’t even noticed I have been right under his nose the whole time. Closing my eyes, I drift off to sleep in anticipation of the pack meeting tonight. I hear my alarm go off a couple hours later, waking up and stretching I see my mate sound asleep beside me, our pup in the basinet in the corner. I kiss her gently and grab my coat and head outside. The pack house is filled with pack members, and I can feel my nerves getting to me. All eyes turn to me as I walk in. The pack members have more respect for me than they do Wyatt currently and I plan to try and keep it that way. A pack member speaks up. "Why have you gathered us all here? Has the Luna been found?" "Luna has not been found yet, but keep in mind she is not Luna, yet she didn’t get the ceremony to become Luna. I have gathered all of you here today to talk about what changes we are going to be making in the pack. First, we are going to start weekly pack meetings, and start back up with our daily work outs and combat practice." I hear groans around me, but a few do clap for me. "I know some of you are not looking forward to this but this needs to happen so we will be ready for anything that comes our way. Right now, we are not prepared for anything, and we are weak. That may not be what you all want to hear but it’s true. As the stand in Alpha, this is all being in place to start tomorrow, so be ready. That is everything for now. I will see you all in the morning, there will be consequences if you do not show up." The pack house clears out and I am left by myself. This is going to be a huge change and I have a feeling it will be met with resistance. I don't have consequences in mind right now, but I will figure it out. I know there will be some of them that don't show up tomorrow and I need to prepare myself for that. I must take the Alpha position and make sure they know I mean it. *Wyatt's POV* I drive up to my first destination. A witches lair. I am going to be talking to the witches to see if they can help me narrow down where the pack is that took Leah. It is quiet and I get chills down my spine. I feel tugging at my mind. A voice speaks to me. "What do you want wolf? You have no business here." "I need your help. My mate has been kidnapped and I need your help to find her." I say calmly to them. "What makes you think we will help you?" "I will be in your debt. All I am asking for is a little bit of magical help." "My sisters and I will think about it. Come back and see us in a few hours wolf. We will have a decision for you then." Starting my truck back up I set out to find a place I can set up camp for the night. I will head to see the witches in the morning. Finding a good spot, I set up camp and relax for the night. Images of Leah going through my head as I fall asleep.
