Ethious:
As the beach came into view I couldn't help but notice all the beautiful women fooling around in the shoreline of the beach. I glanced back at the guys and they all smiled back at me knowingly.
My mom had rented us a cabin near the woods, facing the cliffs. She knows us all too well. She knew we'd take the time to not only view the business of the territory but the pleasures as well. We can't expand our territory without knowing what we were getting in return.
We pulled up to the cabin to realize that it's more than a cabin. It looks like a suburban two-story house. No matter what direction you look, there is nothing for miles. Definitely picked this place in case we wanted to go for a run.
The beauty of being around humans is that they're oblivious to what we are and rogues don't bother with them for the same reason we don't. They're fragile and easy to spook. Scared humans are the worst.
It would be a risk for us to keep them near. The only reason we were here is because we need the space. As soon as our people reign in, the humans will leave it's their natural instinct telling them to survive and for that I am thankful.
"We'll scope the perimeter boss," Jason laughed as he playfully shoved his brother Mason.
"Scope the perimeter my ass," Jace grunted shaking his head.
"Be careful here. This is their land and I want to keep that way until we're ready to move in," They both nodded heading towards the back of the house.
"We're going into town to stock up on food, girls," Jace shouted after them.
"Okay mom," they both said in girly voices and pretended to giggle. I let out a chuckle.
"How's Sara?" I asked making conversation once we reached the grocery store. Jace is my best friend, my beta, but he's as uptight as they come.
"Her mom is persuading her to fully mate. I want to wait until she's eighteen and graduates. I don't want her to feel like she's obligated to give up anything because she's my mate and I'm the beta. She needs to do what she needs to do," he answered pushing the cart as I just grabbed stuff off the shelves and dumped them into it.
Jace had found his mate when he shifted at sixteen. She was eleven at the time. He told her mother and said he would wait for her when she turned sixteen and shifted herself. The woman was more than happy to know that. If it were up to her she would have handed the girl over then and there.
Jace had been there for her for everything. The passing of her father down to handling the pain of the first shift. I admire my beta and his self-control. I sure as hell don't have any. Not that I would line up to look like a pedo. I'd probably have to learn that restraint in his position.
Now that she's old enough it gets frustrating for him because she wants to please him and he promised himself he wouldn't get in the way of what she wanted for her future against what she wants in the heat of the moment.
"Have you talked to her mother and told her to back off?" I asked. He slightly nodded.
"Yeah, but the damage is done. Her wolf is still a pup running on hormonal instinct. Sometimes it's hard to stop her and then she turns it around talking about she understands that I don't want her like that because she's a little kid," we both laughed.
"I don't even know what to say to that,"
"There's nothing to say. That's why I didn't hesitate to agree to come. She's driving my wolf insane. She knows exactly what to do taunt me," we both laughed again.
"Don't f*****g touch me, you i***t," we both stopped at the sound of a girl crying out in the aisle next to us. I looked over to Jace who had also heard her and we quickly started to make our way around.
"Come on, princess. I know you want this. Ray isn't around to help you now,"
An older man stood with his back to us. He had a little red head in his arms she was trying to move away by squirming wanting him to release her. I held my arm out stopping Jace from attacking him. The low growl rumbled in his chest vibrating against my arm.
"She's going to f*****g kill you, ass hole. Let go," the girl fought. All I can see is the top her head and her legs pushing against the linoleum trying to get away from her aggressor. I noticed her accent for the first time. She has an English accent. It's not thick like she's spent sometime around Americans.
"Let her go, man. We'll pretend we didn't see this if you walk away," I demanded walking towards them.
"Get out of here, kid. This doesn't concern you," the man responded looking back at us. Without letting the girl go, he turned around and began to size me up. We're about the same size the only difference is that he's a human and I can literally crush his head with my hand.
"Henry, listen to him. He can hurt you," the girl pleaded. Her fear is no longer directed on the man. She looked up at me tears pulling in her eyes as she pulled on his arm wrapped around her neck.
"I doubt that sweetheart," the i***t scoffed leaning in and kissing her neck.
She flinched and started to fight harder now. I moved forward and pulled her out of his arms shoving her into Jace's arms before he killed the man. I pulled back and swung forward hitting this piece of s**t in the face. His stumbled before flopping on the floor.
"Get the f**k out of here before I lose my cool," I threatened holding back my growl. The guy stood up and made a run for the exit.
Bitch. my wolf laughed in my head. I turned to see the girl crying into Jace's chest. He looked a little uncomfortable and lost.
"Hey, it's alright. He's gone," I tried. She turned around and hugged me crying even more so I wrapped my arms around her.
"He was touching me," she cried I pulled her back at arm's length and looked at her.
Her eyes are puffy and her mascara is running down her face but what drew me in are her eyes. I had never seen such emerald green eyes. They seemed to glow, shimmer even. Like staring into a clear ocean with seaweed sparkling at the bottom of it. This girl is beautiful and she just experienced the most horrible thing a girl can experience. Yet she trusts us. There is still a hint of fear but not like before.
"What's your name, beautiful?" I asked in hopes to make her feel better.
"Rayleen," she answered trying to control her sobs.
"How old are you, Rayleen?" she looked up at me her eyes telling me she isn't a little kid. This girl has been through something terrible. Her eyes hold pain in them and lots of intelligence. That threw me way off a lot more than the strange color of her eyes.
"I'm nineteen," she shrugged and looked back at Jace. She wiped her face trying to make herself presentable.
"Who are you guys? I've never seen you here before," she asked in her cute accent.
"I'm Ethious and this is my friend Jace," I introduced us before pointing at him. "We're on vacation,"
"Oh. Is this your first visit to Reyna Peak?" we both nodded. "Would you like a tour? It's not very big so it won't take very long,"
"That's what she said," Jace laughed trying to make all of this a little less awkward.
The girl laughed too but the way she did sounds like she's flirting and it's kind of intoxicating. The sound is drawing me in. It affected Jace as well which is strange because he's never ever shown any interest in any girl who isn't Sara.
"Let's hope no girl ever says that to you, love," she giggled.
Rayleen helped us around the store. Being a girl, she got all the things we needed a whole lot faster than we could. We drove back to the cabin to make Jason and Mason put everything away.
"Are you three brothers?" she asked when she met the other two.
"Triplets actually. I'm the eldest, Mason is the youngest, and Jason is the middle creep," Jace answered. She beamed.
"Bloody hell. That's brilliant. I've never met triplets before. Especially not in Lycanthropy," we all froze and looked over at her.
"How do you know that?" Jace asked growling at her. She giggled tapping his chest.
"I grew up around wolves. My sister and I are from England," she said like her telling us where she's from told us how she knew about us. Humans don't just know about us. It's not a casual thing.
"You grew up around wolves," I stated. She nodded and started to head down the road.
"Come on. I'll tell you about it and give you a history lesson on why it would be a stupendous idea for you to expand this way," she giggled. "You won't need your cars. Walking is much better,"
"Keep an eye on her Eth," Jason sighed looking Jace over. "Best beta my ass,"
"Run the perimeter in your skin. Make sure there aren't any humans close by," I told him. He nodded as they finished taking the groceries inside.
"Why does he always accuse me of things when s**t goes sideways?" Jace asked following behind me.
"It usually is your fault," I reminded him. He glared at me as I picked up my pace to catch up with Rayleen. She's walking fast for someone as small as she is.
