Matt drove home, Vic dozing against the window. How he got that big lug of a man out of the car and up the stairs to their apartment, he’d never know. But he managed it, one of Vic’s heavy arms slung over his shoulders, his own arm around Vic’s waist, cajoling the whole way. “Come on, buddy. Two more steps, up you go. Two more. Work with me here, Vic, would you?” Somehow he got Vic into the apartment, down the hall, onto their bed. He deposited him there and went back to lock their door. When he returned to the bedroom, Vic still lay on his back in the middle of their bedspread, but a low snore escaped him and Matt knew he was out. “You’re lucky I love you, big guy,” he murmured, stroking Vic’s brow before kissing the corner of his mouth. “Let’s get you ready for bed, what do you say?” V
