With a usual spring in her step, Jenny walked into the hospital the next day, a rush of excitement filled her as she waited in a short queue to speak to the receptionist at the desk. She really hoped she had not misjudged their chemistry and that he might be open to chatting to her especially since she was his hero. Following the receptionist’s directions, Jenny walked to the ward that William was on, disinfecting her hands and asking the nurse where William was, she was led to a side room. She knocked nervously and peered her head around the ajar door. William was laying on the hospital bed, propped up against four large white pillows and looking a lot better for all the blood being cleared from his face. Jenny weakly greeted him, and William stirred. He instantly smiled as he saw her stood in his hospital room. Jenny was medium height with pale freckly skin and flame coloured hair, her smile was wide and showed off each of her pale white teeth. William feebly replied back to her “Hiya. How are you doing?” and he gestured towards a chair next to the bed. Jenny, delighted that he seemed happy to see her again  sat down and immediately began to talk to him, “You were right about some one being upstairs, after you passed out, I thought they might come downstairs but they didn’t. The police went upstairs after the paramedics took you to hospital. The man died, but I’m sure you already got told that!” “Yeah, a man in a suit told me earlier, I can’t believe that i***t attacked me….” “why did he do that? And why on earth were you in that old hotel anyway? If I had not seen what I thought was a fire, I’d never have gone to investigate” “he kidnapped me and tried to hold me hostage. Hoping that someone would pay for my release, but I fought him and got freed, but he cut me in the process” It took jenny a moment to process what William had said “Why would someone want to kidnap you?” she asked him curiously. William looked uneasy, and sighed slightly, “I’m a trader in the city centre. I am worth a lot of money and sadly, I think he must have thought I had friends or family that cared enough to pay for my freedom. I don’t” Jenny looked at him, “You don’t?” “No, I’m a product of the care system. I am a self-made man and I have been a bachelor for years! I doubt my maid would have been able to have paid out the ransom he wanted” he replied to her, managing to make a joke at the end. Jenifer watched him as he brushed his fingers through his greasy dark hair, his emerald green eyes filled with a secret pain. William flinched and he brought his arm down quickly and brought it to his chest as he winced in agony. “Do you need a nurse?” Jenny said quickly, reaching for the buzzer. William shook his head, “Nah, it’s just the stitches. Don’t worry your pretty little head about me” Jenny could not help but smile at the idea that he found her pretty. The next few hours passed quickly, as they spoke about what stocks and shares, he traded. She’d never met someone before that she had such a strong sense of ease around, they bounced off each other’s conversation and it was only interrupted by the nurse who looked in and told her that visiting time was over. “Promise you’ll come back tomorrow? “he said as jenny got up, reaching out as he did and held her hand. “Of course, I will.” She promised him. And she did. Every day until he was better and released from hospital.
