We didn’t need an autopsy to confirm the body was Parker’s. We did, however, need answers about how he had died and more importantly, ended up in the lake. If not for Parker, then for the people he’d left behind. Like Natalie.
She had several of her own connections and was likely aware a body had been found. Not wanting her to be alone in Parker’s house, Leah picked me up after leaving the scene so we could check on her. On our way, we debated about divulging our suspicions. We didn’t have definitive DNA proof but the scar was, in our minds, almost proof enough. Besides, it would be weeks before the Medical Examiner’s report was released and forcing her to wait any longer might be too much, considering her fluctuating emotional state.
