Book 1 The Beginning

347 Words
Historically, Shepard Mountain Pack was once legendary and mighty. Now, by their own greed and pride, it has fallen from grace. I do not know if the Moon Goddess herself sees us anymore. No presence of her greatness can be felt in even the most sacred of sites. Legends tell of the Moon Goddess favoring Shepard's Moon Pack and blessing them with their own protector. She goes by many names, but to us she is known as Snow Wolf. Many generations ago, the Moon Goddess mated our Alpha with the Snow Wolf. Temptation was too great for him. The Snow Wolf’s powers were too great and in the dark of night he drained her of her powers and rejected her for his chosen mate. This betrayal broke Snow Wolf’s heart. The Moon Goddess learned of this betrayal and ripped the earth open as Snow Wolf’s heart was broken. All the blessings upon Shepard Mountain were taken. The Moon Goddess rained down her fury and her wrath until the ground bled with sorrow and despair. Legend tells of a little wolf girl begging the Moon Goddess for another chance. Not all should be punished for the indiscretions of their Alpha. Seeing the innocence of the girl, the Moon Goddess granted the little wolf girl’s pleas. She showed the little girl a vision of the Snow Wolf returning. She was shown two paths, one in which the Snow Wolf was the savior of all, with her mate by her side. On the other path, she is shown the Snow Wolf destroying Shepard Mountain and bringing the nations to their knees before her wrath and vengeance. This little girl was divined by the Moon Goddess herself as the first seeer. This little girl’s name was Anniah. As each seeer passed to be with the Moon Goddess, a new seeer was chosen by the Goddess. As with all things, as the years went on, the legends became myths. Now the seeers are classified as foolish and those that followed them are outcast. The name given to Snow Wolf, too, was forgotten.
