Chapter 7As the weeks passed, the teens and the Johanssons fell into a routine which worked for all of them. Under Kurt’s watchful eye, Mack and the others spent the mornings doing minor repairs to the interior of the house before they repainted the living and dining room a cheerful pale gold. The color was Velma’s choice after she and Dani consulted over sample paint cards Kurt had brought home from the hardware.
“This is women’s work,” Velma told Kurt when he asked why ‘the men folk’ weren’t consulted.
He shook his head in amusement, telling Guy, “That’s always her reasoning when it comes to decorating. Not that we’ve done much the past few years but when the kids were growing up, she and Alice were the ones who made the final decision a new sofa, or comforters for the beds.”
