I grabbed my phone immediately and called Love. I was pacing and hoping that her engagement was false. That the press was wrong about it.
"Hello. Good morning, babe," she sounded cheerful over the phone. My heart was racing in my chest. My family was watching me anxiously.
"Are you engaged to David Kofflin?" I asked urgently. Silence. It was quiet, but I could hear the racing of her heart.
"Love?" I called.
"Yes. Ellis, we need to talk," she said softly. She didn't need to tell me what that meant. I threw the glass I had in my hand against the wall. Everyone was surprised.
