The Hunter

Chapter Three

I get back to my apartment and call Jaden to see if he’s in town.

“Hey Cole, what’s up man?” He says answering the phone.

“Hey man. I wanted to see if your team was in town. I got the night off.”

“Yeah we are actually. We just finished a hunt and we could take the night off. What were you thinking?” Jaden asks.

“The Loft?”

“Sounds like a plan. We’ll be there around 10.”

“Awesome, I’ll see you guys there.” I hang up and head home. I’m so excited to get to take another nap. I get back to my apartment and take off the stupid leather jacket. I get undressed and crawl back into bed. I don’t even bother setting an alarm, I’ll get up when I get up. I fall asleep pretty quickly. The next thing I remember is rolling over and checking the time, 9:50 pm. Wow, I was tired, and I probably f****d up my sleep schedule. I get up, get ready and head out the door. The club isn’t that far so I’ll only be a little late. I make my way down the street and to the club. Great, there’s a long line. I glance around and see that Terry is the bouncer tonight. Perfect.

“Terry!” I shout.

“Cole? Yo man what are you doing here?”

“I’m taking my one night a year off. Hey do you think you can help me out?” Terry looks around.

“Sure man come on in.” He lifts the rope up and I quickly slide in before someone could yell at me. The club is where a lot of hunters go when they are in town and want to let off some steam. It’s a bit busy and I make my way through the crowd and over to the bar. I glance around looking for Jaden or anyone from his team that I may recognize. I notice a girl on the dance floor, long black hair, slim body. She’s not dancing with anyone, but it looks like she’s having a good time. I feel someone clap me on my shoulder.

“Glad you could make it.” Jaden says. I turn and see Franky, a girl, and Ajax with him.

“The line was crazy long out front.” I try to use it as an excuse.

“We all know you didn’t stand in line.” Ajax says.

“Drinks! We need drinks.” I declare, changing the subject. I squeeze into the bar and buy us all a round of shots.

“What are we going to drink to?” Jaden asks.

“To another successful hunt.” Ajax says.

“To another successful hunt.” We all say and drink down our shots. I catch the eyes of the black haired girl from the dance floor. I wink at her, and she makes her way over towards me.

“What are you guys drinking to?” She asks Jaden.

“Just being the best hunters that we can be.” Jaden teases.

“Fat chance. Then why are you still an Obsidian rank?” She says.

“Ah, your just grumpy because we didn’t get you one.” Jaden puts his arm around her. I thought she was coming over to talk to me. I guess I was wrong..

“Bella this is Cole. A better Hunter than both of us put together. Cole this is the newest member of my team Bella. She’s..she’s opinionated.” So she has a name.

“Let me get you a shot.” I say and turn to the bar. I order another round for everyone.

“Here.” I hold out the shot to her.

“Thanks.” She replies, while looking up at me with her big green eyes. Oh yeah. She wants me. We all take the second shot.

“So have they given you your next hunt?” Jaden asks.

“Yeah, a possible Troll.”

“A troll? I didn’t know they still existed.” Bella says.

“They won’t for long if they put Cole on to them.” Jaden has always been supportive of me being a hunter. But I started later than him. My father is the reason my ranking is so high.

“Guys, I want to dance!” Franky says and grabs Jaden and pulls him into the dance floor. Ajax follows and finds himself a small redhead.

“Don’t you want to dance?” I ask Bella.

“Aren’t you going to dance with me?” She asks.

“You looked like you were enjoying it alone.”

“It’s more fun with a partner.” She grabs my shirt and pulls me out to the dance floor. Now, I’m not much of a dancer, but I’ve got the basics down. Bella is facing me and our bodies are close. She wraps her arms around my neck and grinds on me. I place my hands on her hips and we move together to the rhythm of the music. Her eyes are dark green and her dark eye makeup makes them pop.

“You’re not a bad dancer.” She says.

“You’re better.” She smiles and turns around. The dance floor is getting crowded and she is completely up against me. My hands find her hips again as she grinds her ass onto me. We dance for what feels like hours. Jaden will show up every so often with drinks. We drink and dance together all night. But I knew I need to head back, or I’ll never meet my father in the morning.

“You want to get out of here?” She asks, right before I was going to head out. She looks up at me with her big green eyes, how do I say no to that?

“Yeah, let’s go.” I say. Before I know what’s going on, she’s dragging me out of the club and into a taxi. Her lips are on mine the moment we’re in the backseat. In the cab ride she’s straddling me and grinding on me. It feels so good. My hands grab on to her ass and pull her in deeper. I almost forget we’re in a cab, then it stops at her place. She’s gets off and we head up to her apartment. The second I step through the door, her lips are on me again. She jumps and wraps her legs around my waist. “But you need to get going. No worries. You aren’t my first Hunter. Good luck with the troll.” She says with a wink. I get dressed.

“Maybe I’ll see you the next time were both in town.” I say.

“Maybe, I guess we’ll have to see.” She stands up and pulls on a robe. I walk out of her apartment and hear her lock the door behind me.
