NORIE'S POV:-
Locking Angus inside the cell, I went back to my boss' office. Mr R.K was waiting for me. I stepped into his office and cleared my throat.
"Right on time. I thought it would take some time as no one went there with you." Mr R.K said with a proud smile on his face.
"I can't believe it. How can you underestimate me like this?" I replied dramatically. He laughed loudly and shook his head.
"Let's go and meet him." Mr R.K said and stood up from his chair. We both stepped out of his office and met Mr Simons on the door. I rolled my eyes, knowing the reason what brought him to Mr R.K.
"Mr Simons. It is a pleasure to finally see you out of your luxurious office. By the way, what brought you here?" Mr R.K asked and I broke into laughter.
"Shut up Miss Collins. Can I have a word with you Mr R.K?" Mr Simons asked.
"What is it Mr Simons? You better hurry because unlike you, we both are here to work." Mr R.K said.
"Can I ask you, why Mr Rutherford is brought here like this?" Mr Simons asked.
"Because he is a criminal and we have orders. By the way Mr Simons, we are going to meet your favorite Mr Rutherford, why don't you join us?" I asked with a raised brow. I challenged him with my expressions.
"Let's go." He replied. Mr R.K and I walked together as Mr Simons was following us. We went to the cell Angus Rutherford was in. I could see Mr Simons was wiping his sweat. Seeing us walking towards his cell, Angus stood up. "Why have you brought me here?" He asked in an angry tone. I rolled my eyes on his lame question.
"Oh we were told you can do monkey dance very well. We were getting bored, that's why we brought you here to entertain us." I replied. He gave me a deadly glare.
"Your tongue is out of your control." He replied to me but while speaking to me he was looking at Mr Simons.
"It's under control. Anyways, my work is done here now I am out of here." I replied then turned to leave.
"Who told you that you are done? You still have to take him to the court and take care of the evidence." Mr R.K said. I turned around with a pout.
"You said my work is to bring him here because everyone peed in their pants knowing they had to arrest him. You never told me anything about taking him to the court." I replied and crossed my arms over my chest.
"Now I am telling you. You have to take him to the court and take care of the evidence." Mr R.K replied and I shook my head.
"Not an option. I have had it." I replied in an angry tone and turned around again to leave.
"Are you afraid of me? Well, you should be, because you can't do anything to me. I will soon get out of these bars and that day you will regret dragging me into this cell." I heard Angus. I turned around and went close to his cell.
"I fear nothing." I whispered, making sure only he could hear me. "I will do it. Now I am out." I said out loud and left. Mr R.K followed me behind.
"Norie, wait up. We need to talk." I heard Mr R.K from behind. I stopped into my tracks and turned around to face him.
"Now what?" I asked and wrapped my arms over my chest.
"I will take care of it now. You can go back to your office, I will send you another file." Mr R.K said and I raised an eyebrow.
"Are you serious? You just told me I have to take care of everything about his case. Now what happened?" I asked angrily.
"He is threatening you. I don't want anything to happen to you. You have a family. I didn't think he would threaten you like this." He replied in a worried tone.
"Look, I don't care, he threatened me or not. You said I have to do it, I will do it and that's all." I replied stubbornly.
"You are being crazy." He said.
"I am crazy. Don't you know." I replied and winked at him. I didn't wait for him to say anything else. I went back to my room and sat on my seat. I called the cafe and ordered donuts with coffee. My stomach was roaring by then. I was so hungry.
"Damn, granny. You really had to turn off my alarm. I need to get a secret alarm clock." I thought to myself. My granny never wanted me to work as a cop. She was afraid I would end up like my parents, dead. I would be as well. We all had seen a nightmare after their deaths. For her it was a nightmare but for me, it was a promise. That night I promised myself that I will be a cop like my father. Who knew, I would be a detective. I would never forget that day when I was nominated to be a detective. Then Mr R.K called my name and gave me my badge. It was the happiest day of my life. My grandpa was so happy and proud but granny was really upset with me. She never wanted me to become a cop, but I always wanted to follow my father's footsteps.
I went back home and greeted my grandpa. He opened his arms for me and I hugged him. "I am always proud." He said and pecked my forehead.
"I am very hungry. Where is your wife?" I asked.
"She is fuming into the kitchen. She received a call from your boss." He replied. I sighed and stood up.
"That man will die. I will be the one to kill him." I said and made my way to the kitchen. Grandpa was right, she was fuming. I was expecting a long lecture but I was saved by my stomach. It growled out so loudly. My granny made me sit on the chair and served both me and grandpa our dinner. My stomach actually saved me from a long and boring lecture. I thanked God and started digging in.
By the time I was done with my dinner, granny wasn't in the dining room. I took the advantage of the moment and ran into my room. I shut the door and went into the bathroom. I peeled off my clothes and hopped into the shower. I washed my body, wrapped a towel around my waist and stepped out of the bathroom. I went to my closet and wore my silky nighty that reached my upper thigh. I crawled into my bed, turned on the alarm on a secret clock I had bought before I returned back home. I turned off the lights and closed my eyes and drifted off.
My phone vibrated and I opened my eyes again. I picked my phone from the nightstand. I saw a text from Mr Simons. That was a miracle. Mr Simons never had texted or called me. I unlocked my phone and read the text.
"You will be handling Angus Rutherford's case. That's an order." That's all I read and that made me think.
"Why in hell Mr Simons would ever order me like this? What's going on?" I thought to myself.
