From Heartbreak to Unexpected Love

Tina and I celebrated just a little, I still had to work early tomorrow morning which I was dreading, along with an awkward conversation with Tom.

After our small party, I got ready for bed, it was still early for Tina and she decided to go out with her friends.

As I was comfortable lying on my bed just waiting to drift off to sleep, there was a knock at my bedroom door.

Poking her head in my room. "Sophia come out and celebrate with me, this is the perfect time to unwind and party", Tina said.

"No thank you, Tina, I think I had too much of the wine", I said. "Alright when your birthday comes up soon you are coming with us, I will not take no for an answer", Tina expressed to me.

As soon as Tina left the apartment it was nice and quiet which made me fall asleep a lot faster and peacefully. The next morning I woke up sluggish not wanting to get out of bed to go to work.

As I lay in the bed unmoving, I checked the time and if I didn't get myself ready now I would be late. Finally getting up, I made my bed and then walked into the bathroom to wash my face and brush my teeth after I took a quick shower.

Once I got dressed in my uniform, I headed to the kitchen to grab an apple and yogurt before leaving the house. I didn't bother about peeping into Tina's room, because knowing her, she was probably not home but in some stranger's bed after a night of clubbing.

I took an Uber to work and I got there just in time with 10 minutes to spare. As I walked into the restaurant, I headed straight to the back to put my things away in my locker.

As I was mentally preparing myself for today, Tom walked in with a greasy smile on his face. "Good morning Sophia, you are looking extra sexy today", he said to me.

This guy is disgusting, I'm so ready for the end of my shift. "Hello Tom", I said. I was debating with myself on whether I should tell Tom now or later, but since he was being disrespectful, I would just tell him now.

"Tom I have to tell you something", I said to him. Tom said to come into his office to talk to him. I was uneasy about going into his office but this was a personal matter so I agreed.

Stepped into his office hung an unpleasant odor and the place looked so messy. "So tell me what do you need to talk about Sophia", he said as he took a seat at his desk.

I choose to stand and deliver the news. "Tom today will be my last day working here", I stated. Tom immediately got up from his seat to approach me. "You can't leave Sophia, you are my best girl, If you stay I will make it worth your while', he spilled out.

I said no thank you and quickly walked out of his office to punch in to work. My shift went by slowly and I was very eager to leave so I wouldn't have to deal with Tom any longer.

At the end of my shift, I bravely went up to Tom to find out when I could get my last check, and of course, he couldn't help himself as he began to flirt once again.

Not bothering to entertain him any longer, I told him I would stop by next Saturday to pick up my last check then I left.

It was just mid-afternoon when I got home and saw Tina on the couch with a man I had never seen before. I'm pretty sure this guy is just a number on her list.

"Hi Sophia, how was work today", she asked. I replied, "Long and annoying, I'm glad today was my last day. Tina then introduced me to her visitor I didn't care to know his name.

After the introductions, I went straight to the bathroom to shower and then to my bedroom to unwind as I went over the F.A.C. handbook, along with my job duties.

The job is basic and I'm ready for a challenge, finally landing my dream job. I was so excited and exhausted, that after I read the handbook I dozed off to sleep thinking about what my first day of work would be like.
