From Heartbreak to Unexpected Love

Sunday morning I woke up feeling quite refreshed and rejuvenated. The sense of being weightless with a hint of problems being washed away. Overall I felt extremely perfect and nothing would be able to break my happy mood.

I got myself together to head out for my morning run, I couldn't skip today since I wasn't able to do my run on Friday.

Being so energetic this morning, I ended up making a cup of coffee and breakfast with a note on the side for Tina before I left.

I'm pretty sure I was rude last night to her guest, so this was an apology for breakfast to her.

As I walked down the block towards the park, I enjoyed the morning cool air on my face and the fresh aroma of donuts and coffee tingling my nose.

Reaching the entrance to the park I immediately spotted Eric sitting at the nearest bench looking around like he was waiting for something or maybe someone.

I was excited, not sure if It was because I was seeing Eric or the fact I was starting my new job tomorrow. Walking up to Eric, closing the distance between us, he finally saw me with a huge smile on his face.

"Good morning my beautiful Sophia, you look lovely today I may add", he expressed to me. My heart began to beat faster with the compliments he was giving me. "Good morning Eric", I said shyly.

My cheeks were getting warm and I had covered up my cheeks with my hands so he wouldn't notice I was blushing.

Eric got up off the bench to walk in front of me where there was little space between us now. "Are you ok Sophia, you look flustered", he said with a concerned voice. I let him know I was feeling just fine but his closeness was making me even hotter.

Eric smirked at me, he confessed that he had gotten accustomed to running with me every Friday and Sunday. Before he could even finish his sentence, I asked him if he missed me. I was just playing but there was a serious look in his eyes that told me he did very much miss me.

"I've been enjoying spending time with you running and going for a cup of tea", he said. "I'm sorry about Friday, I had some business to take care of", I told him.

He told me since I skipped our run Friday, that I have to accompany him for tea and lunch today. I was gonna reject his invitation but deep down I do enjoy spending time with him.

After I small chat, we began our hour run and made sure not to cause another collision this time. The hour went by fast and now we were enjoying our hot beverage until I got a call from an unknown number.

Not this again I can't believe Quinton just won't quit and leave me alone. Eric saw the look on my face and asked what was wrong. I told him about the strange calls I've been getting from an unknown number but I didn't let him know it was from my ex.

Eric offered to help me with it but I told him I would just block the number. Afterward, finishing our tea, we headed to a restaurant to have lunch.

We were seated right away as our waiter was very nice until I noticed him looking at me longer than he should have. After ordering our food, it didn't take long for us to receive it.

We ate as we continued having a light conversation.

Our waiter came to our table wanting to know if we wanted a refill on drinks, still, the waiter was looking at us hard which made me uncomfortable.

Eric noticed my body language and the waiter's eyes on me, he reached his long arms over the table to grab my hands in his to kiss them softly. Without even staring at the waiter, Eric said, "Stop looking at my woman with your gawking eyes, or I will be forced to take action."

My core immediately began to moist from Eric's reaction, I needed to calm down. I can't be falling for Eric, not now. The waiter quickly left us to our privacy and I pulled my hands away from Eric.

All of a sudden I was getting way too hot and I excused myself to go to the restroom. I went to the sink to splash cold water on my face, Eric's hands were so strong but warm and his lips were so soft.

I tried to shake off the tingling feeling I was getting, I took a deep breath and then fell out of the restroom to bump right into Eric's hard muscular chest.

Eric lifted his left hand to cup my right cheek, I tried to back up but he had me pinned up to the restroom door, I couldn't move anywhere. "Beautiful are you feeling alright, I'm sorry that happened. He shouldn't have made you uncomfortable," Eric said.

For a second I thought Eric was gonna kiss me but he was just being concerned about my feelings. I took another deep breath to calm down my nerves. "I'm feeling much better, Eric; thank you for checking up on me," I told him.

He released my cheek and grabbed my hand as he guided me back to our table. The rest of our lunch we enjoyed in peace. I had offered to pay, but yet again, he assisted in paying.

Before leaving the restaurant, Eric took my phone, then his phone started ringing, and after a minute or so, he gave it back to me. "Now, my beautiful Sophia, you will always have my number whenever you need me.

I don't know how I feel about him having my number; this is getting too real too quickly. Taking another deep breath as we left the restaurant. Before we parted ways, Eric lifted my hand and softly kissed it again.

Walking back home, I couldn't stop thinking about what had occurred between me and Eric today. I can't have feelings for him; I just can't. Maybe once I start work, I could get him off my mind.
