Chapter 3 Legally Married

1070 Words
Tony Jones had no idea what it was about, but he could tell by both Kate and Mark’s reaction that it was a surprise and not a good one. He had slowly recovered from the shock that Mark knocked down his three bodyguards within seconds.   “Holy f**k! Who the hell are you?! Don’t you dare mess with me?!” Tony yelled at Mark angrily, “All I need to do is make a phone call and you won’t live to see the sunrise tomorrow.” His voice echoed in the spacious parking lot.   Slap!   Mark slapped Tony on his face, hard and fast, without even taking his eyes off the certificate. He was still shocked at what he saw. “Shut the f**k up.” He demanded. Stunned, Tony felt his face burning painfully.     “We are…” Mark stuttered, “Married?” He looked at Kate. Kate was silent. She folded the certificate with a photo of Mark and herself on it and took out a note from the envelope.   My little Katie, I hope you are not too surprised. Mark Jackson is reliable and capable. I trust him and am sure that he will take care of you. Come visit me when you have time. Love, Grandpa. x P.S. Don’t waste your time trying to get a divorce.   Kate recognized her grandpa’s handwriting and knew that it wasn’t a trick.   “What the hell?! What’s Jack planning?! I’m now married!” Mark cursed, sounding annoyed, and called Jack, but failed to reach him. Now, he’s disappeared. Huh.   “Alright, darling,” Mark shrugged his shoulders and put his phone in his pocket casually, “I thought we had to go through some usual procedure, like dating and that, you know, but apparently your grandpa was very eager and now we are legally married.” He said to Kate with a helpless and cheeky smile.   “Don’t call me darling!” Kate snapped. She had only just met Mark, but the photo of them on the certificate looked so real. No one would believe that it had been edited. It looked unbelievably real.   “Married!” Tony exclaimed. On hearing what Mark said, Tony then realized what the letter was about. “b***h! You have been pretending to be single, wasting my time!” He glared at Kate. “You two have made a joke of me! I won’t just let you off.” He said angrily as he walked towards his car.   “You think you can just walk away after insulting my wife?” Mark retorted and went up to Tony with a sneer. Though he was indeed very shocked still that he was suddenly married, he knew that Jack must have planned it thoroughly and it was impossible to get a divorce without his consent. He wasn’t happy about it and thought that Tony would be a good punch bag for now.   “What are you going to do?” Tony looked at Mark nervously.   Bang!   Mark threw a punch at Tony’s face.   “s**t!” Tony cursed.   Bang! Another punch. Mark went on for a couple of minutes till Tony was moaning in pain on the ground. I will revenge for sure! Tony thought to himself.   Seated next to Mark who was driving fast, Kate was still trying to understand what had happened. Grandpa is ridiculous! I know nothing about this guy and I’m married to him!   Mark wasn’t pleased with the fact that he was married either, but he didn’t find it too difficult to accept. Just as he was wondering what Jack was planning this time, he suddenly noticed that a dim blue light twinkled from the rear mirror. He knitted his brows and then reached his hand down to the brakes.   “Can’t you please concentrate on driving?” Kate thought he was scratching his leg and found it to lack of manners. She looked out of the window as she spoke, avoiding eye contact with him. “Hey, honey, can you please lend me ten thousand pounds and I will return it tomorrow,” Mark said with a cheeky smile as he grabbed something off the brake and put it in his pocket swiftly and secretively.   “I beg your pardon?” Kate turned to look at Mark in surprise.   “Well, you are my wife now. I need money and you have it.” Mark replied with a grin and quickly handed her his bank card.   Kate glared at him for a few seconds, hesitated, then, took the card. She took a photo of it and sent a message with her phone.   Within seconds, Mark received a message from the bank saying that ten thousand pounds had been transferred into his account. He nodded with a grin. I guess it’s great to be married to the richest woman.   The car pulled over outside Century Building and Kate got off. “Now that you’ve got the money, please get out of my sight.” She ordered and walked towards the gate.   “Alright. I love you, darling.” Mark shouted behind her as he watched her walk away elegantly and couldn’t help noticing how fit she was.   Ten minutes later, Mark found himself in The Club. The Club wasn’t just a usual club. It was in fact the place where serious gambling happened and only the real gamblers knew. The regulars came to play snooker for real and for money. One had to pay ten thousand pounds to be qualified to play. And the rule was that the players had to beat the others before they could challenge the boss and if one beat the boss, he got ten times the money. Apparently, ever since the place opened, only one person had won.   Mark looked around and noticed that it wasn’t busy at this time of the day. He walked up to the boy behind the counter. “How many are playing today?” He asked and handed his bank card to the boy.   “Ten.” The boy answered.   “Cool. I’m in. I will challenge them all.” Mark said aloud.
