Bonus Chapter

Melissa's POV- Hospital Bed

Before death

I was laying in the hospital bed, living the last days of my pathetic life. Tears flowed out of my eyes as I thought about my son. My son won't be able to have the life he wished for. I won't be there to see my son grow....to hear his first word....to see his first walk....to drop him off to school....to see him married. I would never be able to see all of that and it's all my fault....all my fault. 

I am being punished for my sins, for all the hurt I caused to those who only loved me in return but due to my jealousy I lost everything. I lost my sister....my best friend.....Faith. "Melissa....how are you feeling now?" Kate asked me with sympathy as she stroked my hair which were really thin due to a lot of hair loss. After finding out I have cancer I broke down in tears. I didn't have the guts to share this with anyone until I started to cough out blood. 

I looked at Kate, my mother in law and felt disgust over myself. I didn't deserve her kindness, I didn't deserve her love. I saw Dave and Atlas in the room as well. I glanced over at Atlas and sobbed seeing his blank face. The day I confessed was the day Atlas broke. He wasn't the same before and it was all because of me. 

I lost my love due to my mistakes and I lost my best friend, the girl who was there for me all the time over a guy. I was being punished for separating two true lovers. Even after taking everything away from Faith, I still couldn't get Atlas's love. I knew he didn't love me, he faked everything with me. He even tried to fall in love with me but I knew his heart only yearned for his Faith.....not mine.

"Melissa darling why are you crying?" Kate wiped my tears. "P-please....p-lease don't be so kind towards me....I-I don't d-deserve it" I sobbed in her hands. She frowned as confusion took over her expressions. 

"Mel...my dear I-?" she sighed knowing what I was talking about. "I know you are showing sympathy because I don't have much time" I cried. Kate shook her head and patted my shoulder but decided to stay silent. 

"If only you told me you and Faith were in love, we could have...." Dave said trailing off as he looked at Atlas. Atlas still looking blank looked down not uttering a word making my heart clench seeing him in this condition. It was as if he was lifeless. 

"F-faith and Atlas-" I said causing Kate and Dave to look at me except Atlas. "They were mad lovers....obsessed with each other. They were the 'IT' couple. Everyone loved them, admired them and wanted to be them. They were the cutest couple in the college, even the teachers loved seeing them together. Everyone knew the two would end up together, they were inseparable. At first my love wasn't strong for Atlas but as years went past my love soon became an obsession. I started to envy Faith. She was perfect, beautiful, strong and badass yet so loving and kind. I wanted to be like her, I wanted Atlas to see me as a lover not just as a friend or a sister. Faith-" Tears rolled down my cheeks.

"Faith was once my everything. She was like an over-protective sister" I laughed. "If someone tried to harm me or bully me, she made sure they would get punished".

Flashback 5 years ago

I hid behind a tree, hugging my knees as tears rolled out of my eyes. "MEL" I heard Faith shout out for me. I stayed hidden not wanting to face her. I didn't want her to get in trouble because of me. "MELI-...., here you are....I was finding you everywhere" she said finally finding me. I quickly wiped my tears not wanting her to see. "Mel" she called out softly now cupping my cheeks. Her soft expression hardened when her eyes froze on my red cheek. She stroked my cheek making me wince as she clenched her teeth.

"Names" she ordered with a cold tone. I shivered as I remembered the names but chose to stay silent. 

"Names Melissa.....tell me the names" she gritted. "R-roman and Br-rittany". As soon as I uttered those words she stormed off towards the campus. Fear entered my body as I quickly stood up and ran after her. 

"ATLAS" she shouted causing Atlas to quickly snap his head towards her. Her ran towards her in worry and cupped her cheeks. "What happened Fai?....why do you look so angry?....who hurt you?" he gritted his teeth. I admired how much love he had for faith, they were literally obsessed with each other, so possessive of each other. 

"f*****g Roman and Brittany hurt Mel" she hissed, throwing glares at the ground as she clenched her palms. Atlas's face turned blank as he gritted his teeth. "Let's go" his voice boomed. I quickly ran behind them to stop the two from causing any trouble but lost them as they were too fast. 

After a few minutes I could hear cheering. My heart beat increased in fear of knowing the reason behind the cheers. I rushed towards the crowd and could hear them shouting "FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT".

"Oh No!" I whispered as I pushed my way through the crowd. 

There in front of me was Brittany on the floor. I gasped placing my hands over my mouth in shock. Her cheeks were red with a handprint on each side of her cheeks, while her hair was in a mess. Her nose was bleeding as she cried on the floor, complaining about her nose being broken. My eyes then glanced at Roman who was in the middle while Atlas and Faith were on each side of him. 

"This is for hurting my friend" Atlas's voice boomed as he punched Roman making him fall towards Faith. Faith gripped his collar and gritted out "This is for calling her names and for raising your hand on my sister" and with that said she punched him on his nose throwing him towards Atlas. 

"This is for bullying her and trying to molest her while we weren't here to protect her" and with that said he snapped Roman's finger making him scream in agony and pain. He then threw him to Faith who kicked him in the stomach making him fall to the ground crying for forgivness. "I-I'm sorry...I won't d-d-o it again....I'm sorry" he cried while the two surrounded him. "MELISSA" Faith shouted making me jump. 

She turned her head towards me and called me over. "Come here Mel, nothing will happen....I promise" she said softely as she reached her arm out to me. I looked down embarrased as I felt everyone's eyes on me. "She is lucky to have Faith and Atlas to protect her" a person whispered. "I know right" another whispered. 

With pink cheeks, I slowly walked towards Faith as she wrapped her arms around my shoulders. I pushed my glasses over my nose as I looked away from Roman's battered body. "Apologise" Atlas spat to Roman. Roman quickly went on his knees folding his hands as he begged for forgivness. "I'm sorry Melissa....I..I p-promise I-I w-won't do i-it again...P-please" he begged with tears in his eyes. I was shocked to see Roman begging with tears as he was known as one of the bad boys. 

"I Forgive you" I whispered feeling bad for him. After saying those words he quickly ran away making Atlas curse under his breath. I turned towards Faith and glared at her. "There was no need for that Faith.....you could have just told the principal" I muttered. Faith scoffed. "Like he would do anything. Until they don't get a good beating, these people won't change" she rolled her eyes. She cupped my cheeks and said something that created warmth in my heart.

"I will always protect you Mel, no matter what"

Present

I wiped away my tears, feeling lucky that I had two angels at my side to protect me but I lost them due to my selfishness. Dave and Kate looked at me with disgust but failed to hide it. I silently cried looking away from them.
