Prologue
The beginning started with a loud bang as a as five men stood around the president of the United States of America. on his knees sniveling like a coward was the man who also held the title of chief of command. Camera lights blinked as and 3veeyone watched behind screen as the new age cesaer lost his life and the reign of the council of war took over the government.
No longer was their a president that was hand voted into the plush chair in the middle of the ovel office. Instead five me who ran, the army, the air force, the navy, the special forces, and the coast guard would replace themselves with people they have chosen, and trained. Most people would train their children to take their place. Yet this new ruling class was no a monarchy. In this new world, blood didn't reign Supreme. People with skill and smarts and questionable morals were hand picked and hand trained to be the next one to take a seat at the table.
Soon people flooded the mails of the military with applications hoping to enter into the military and catch the eyes of one of these powerful men. Applications flooded in so often and from all over the United States maybe one percent of the letters were actually opened, maybe once a week. Soon the generals came up with a plan. The first step was that they would all hire an advisor that would help them in all matters that concerned the government, from hiring a security detail, to deciding who would come next. Next the step was to come up with a plan that would cull the list of potential people till someone came out on top. They vaguely talked over the ideas of trials. Or a written test that would see how smart the person was.
Then one person stepped up an idea rolling around behind bright blue eyes. How about a written test, then people with lower intelligence were disqualified after that comes a trial so big and so brutal that many people would not even want to attempt. This trial will force people to use problem solving skills, face moral dilemmas and challenge strength and stamina. Everyone thought long and hard on these statesment offered to them by the navy commander. His steal grey hair combined with the laughter lines prominent on his face made people question when he was going to announce when his chosen disciple was going to be announced.
The army advisor stood up her long brown hair done up in a tight bun, paired with even tighter skirt and shirt causing everyone cough and whisper uptight b***h under breath. "Who exactly will be allowed to apply? Is there an age restriction?" Most of the xommanders tried to hide their laughter yet Sam of the navy openly laughed in her face. "Of course there would be age restriction you want a group of twelve year olds slaughtered?" He shook his head and sighed let's say training for the event starts at age twelve but the people who can officially apply and run the gauntlet have to be 18." Soon army commander got up he was the youngest man in the room and his stance seemed to give off waves of confidence. "Something like this could bring in a lot of money, I say we do this once a year and have the whole thing televised." He paused for breath and one of the commander got up to say something in protest when army held his hand up : we have tiny little cameras that come equipped with night vision goggles that are literally collecting dust we could use those for know. "
Everyone nodded and navy commander nodded, this will give everyone a good show and also allow for new recruits as well as helping us find people who could very well be the next replacement for this here table." Everyone nodded and commander airforce got to his feet, "alright gentlemen 5onight my wife is making dinner and promised me a surprise when I get home, I'm sure.all of you guys are ready to leave, so with a show of hands....." He didn't have to complete his sentence when all five hands where in the air. Chuckling he nodded alright let's converse on this tomorrow it is indeed late and I already miss my bed, how about we meet for lunch tomorrow to discuss my assistant will be in touch with your assistant." There were nods all around and soon the one room was empty ready to hold more meetings dedicated to pushing the military into a stronger and better tomorrow.
