After the ceremony I watch Deni walk our officiant out. Mina follows him out. Cory lingers, still fawning over Nick.
“Can you give us moment, please,” I say as I turn to Nick.
“Yeah, sure,” Cory says walking out. He closes the door behind him, leaving us alone. I walk to the window and stare out thinking of a way to broach the subject. But I know I have to come out and say it, because something was going on here that I didn’t understand.
“What happened with you? Why did you do that?” I ask Nick turning to face him. Nick stares back at me, and then looks away, but not before I see the mask of horror and pain on his face. “What?” I ask walking closer to him.
