Episode two

*Nicolina’s POV*

It's been three months since I was last at the office, and I have successfully avoided Kosta.

I have to go to the city today and have my last baby doctor appointment before my due date. I am meeting Jana at the doctor's office and knowing he has struggled to keep my baby-sized secret.

Host a has been at her house every day and asking questions about me to the point that Jana has begged me to come clean and let my secret out, but I can't not now.

It's too late. What am I going to say after all this time?

So I have made her keep the secret until I'm ready to share it

I know Kosta asked if I work at the office, and he got told I don't, and that's because I went under the name Taylor at school, not Del Pozzo; my parents kept our wealth a secret.

I park the car and get out them walk into the Doctors office, but I don't see Jana any ware?

So I get my phone out of my bag and see I have a message from Jana

“Hey Nick, I can't make it. Kosta is here, and Jovan needs my help. I'm sorry, let me know how you go.”

I sigh and put my phone back in my bag and check into my appointment

Then sit and wait for the doctor

While I'm waiting, I notice that I have minor pains in my back and think nothing of it. I have had minor annoyances here and there for a day or two now. I have put it to pregnancy pain that comes and goes.

When my doctor calls my name, I get up and walk to his office and sit down

We discuss. my birth plan and how long I will be in hospital for then he changed checks my cervix

When he takes off his gloves, he smiles

“Nicolina, you are six centre meters dilated, and your waters have broken. Did you notice any gush of water over the past few days?”

I think about it and shake my head

I have accidentally peed my pants yesterday with a sneeze, and again this morning, I didn't make it on time, but my waters haven't broken that I'm aware of!”

The doctor smiles then pick up his phone and dial a number

“Miss Del Pozzo will be in shortly. She is in labour. Please have her something suit ready.”

When he hangs up, he looks at me

“I hope you had no plans, Nicolina. You have to go to the hospital, call who you need to call, and have bags brought to you. I will escort you to the labour and delivery ward.”

I look up at him in shock and swallow

“You mean ill have my baby today.”

He sits across from me and smiles

“Tonight or tomorrow morning, your baby will be here.”

I text my mum and ask her to come to the hospital; then I message Jana but choose not to. I know she can't make it, and that hurts, but it is a sacrifice I have to take to keep the baby a secret.

When I see my mum is on the way, I smile up at the doctor who holds out his hand to help me up, and we begin to walk towards the labour and delivery ward

“Are you sure you don't want the father with you, Nicolina?”

The doctor asks me

I smile and nod

“I'm sure he is a busy man, and I don't want to disturb him.”

The doctor looks at me, concerned, then sighs

“He doesn't know, does he?”

I frown and stop walking

“No, he doesn't know, and I'm okay with that. It isn't straightforward, and he is better off not knowing.”

I continue walking when a sharp pain hits me, and I lean on a wall. The doctor comes to my side and takes its hand

“You are brave to do this on your own, Nic. Now let's go meet your baby.”

He gets me a wheelchair and sits me down, then takes me to labour and delivery.”

*Jana’s POV*

I keep looking at my phone and wondering why Nic hasn't told me how her appointment went! I have tried to call her mum, but she isn't answering, so I am worried

I look at Jovan and then give him a hug

“I have to go out for a bit. Nic needs my help.”

He kisses me and smiles, then looks at Kosta, who is watching me

So I turn around and get my bag and leave the house. I know something is wrong because Nic would always keep me up to date. I get into my car and go to the doctor's office at the hospital. I sigh a breath of relief when I see Nicolina’s car in the car park, so I get out and walk to the doctor's office.

When I go to open the door, my heart sinks. The door is locked.

I go back to my car and think about what I should do next, but I go home and wait for Nic to call me. Maybe she was having lunch with her mum.

*Kosta’s POV*

Jovan stopped me from following Jana, and I sank to the floor and put my head in my hands

“Jovan, you have your girl. Why are you keeping me from mine?”

He leans against the door frame

“Kosta, let her go. Remember you wanted a clean break with no contact well, she has given you that it's been nine months since you were together. When are you going to move on?”

I look up at him in anger then punch the floor

“I don't want to move on, Jovan. I want Nicolina in my life, I always have, and every time I think I'm getting close to finding her, I get blocked. I want her in my life. Is that so much to ask?”

Jovan sighs

“Maybe one day it will make sense, but for now, it is what it is, and you have to move on. Maybe Mr Del Pozzo’s daughter is a hottie who will capture your interests

I get up off the floor and go to the door

But before I could open it, Jana walked through the door and slammed it shut

“That f*****g b***h is ghosting me. She had better have a good excuse about why she didn't tell me how the doctor went.”

She stops her rant when she sees me, and the shock comes over her face

“Forget what I said, alright, Kosta? I have to go to my room.”

I look at Jovan, who looks just as shocked, and he looks at me

“Maybe you should go home.”

I open the door and go to my car. Now I know Jana is keeping something big from me, and I will make it my mission to find out what!

I start my car and drive home and think about what my next plan is. Then I remember what Jovan said

Maybe Mr Del Pozzo's daughter was hot

Maybe that is a subtle hint about Nicolina’s secret

So I go to the Del Pozzo media website and lookup the Ceo and see if del Pozzo has any images of his family

When I get the page loaded, my breath hitches and everything makes sense

Now I know why Mr Del Pozzo was late to the meetings we have had over the past few months. He was covering for Nic because, as of six months ago, she took over her father's position

Now What Jana said makes sense

Nicolina waited to make it. a clean break like she promised, so she moved away and chose to give her father our contract; I opened my briefcase and got the freshly signed contract out and went to the signatures

And everything clicks into place in my mind when I see Nicolina Taylor Del Pozzo in the signatures.

I put the paperwork back in my briefcase and smile

I know I have a month to work out my next step because Nic will be at that meeting.

I begin to put a plan into action and then message Jovan

“Hey Jov, thanks for giving me a clue about Nic. Has Jana found her yet?”

Jovan reply’s right away

“Took you long enough, Kosta, and yeah, she has found Nic. I can't tell you where she is, but you will know soon enough.”

I don't reply to my message, but I send the link to the web page with Nicolina’s profile to my dad

And leave him a message

“You made me break up with Nicolina to get married to someone else because you deemed Nicolina not to your standings well, look what I found out dad Nicolina is the CEO of Del Pozzo media, you know, the company that saved Bennett Media’s arse!! If I can't get Nicolina back, I don't want anything to do with you.”

I hit send, and my dad called me back immediately

“Kosta, how was I supposed to know that Nicolina was a Del Pozzo? I asked her dad to arrange a marriage between families, and he denied my offer because his Daughter was in a relationship and didn't want to ruin her happiness. How was I supposed to know it was you.”

I lose my temper and scream into the phone

“I f*****g begged you to call that marriage off, dad. I wanted Nicolina, and I still want her, but now she is f*****g Ghosting my calls and I blame you for being a selfish prick and chasing money. My happiness didn't matter to you.”

I hang up the phone and get a beer from the fridge. Now I know I will see Nic again; I can get her back.

*Nicolina’s POV*

I look down at my Daughter, and I smile. My mum sots next to me on the bed and strokes her tiny cheek then looks at me and smiles

“What are you going to name her, Nic?”

I look at my mum

“Kosta and I always said if we had a Daughter together, we would name her Mila.”

My mum hugs me and then takes Mila from my arms and kisses both her cheeks then her forehead

And I began to cry. I could do this alone, but seeing Mila made me Realise how much I Missed Kosta.

My mum hands me, Mila, back and then takes my phone from my hand and takes a photo of Mila and I then gives my phone back to me, and I look at the photo

And that makes me smile. I don't look as bad as I thought

I have attached the photo to a message and sent it to Jana

“Hello, Aunty Jana, sorry I didn't answer or keep you informed about my appointment, but I was in no shape to make calls. Hug uncle Jovan for me.”

Jana Reply’s

“Thank God you are all Right. We will be at the hospital soon.”

I see the message and look at my mum

Jana wants to come here

My mum frowns and shakes her head

“No, Nicolina, you have to tell Kosta first he needs to meet his daughter.”

I message Jana back

“No, don't come. I have something to take care of first; I think it's time I got Kosta back. Are you sure he is divorced?”

I wait for Jana’s reply

“Yes, tell him Nic he misses you.”

I look at my mum and smile

“Tell Dad to move the meeting to tomorrow at my house. It's time I face the consequences of the last Night Kosta and I spent together.”

My mum calls my dad and tells him what I said, and I mentally prepare myself for Kosta to walk away for good

So I begin looking at new places to live so Mila and I can start over if it goes the way I think it will go, and thinking of that breaks my heart.
