" Mama, is there anything that can stop the bad guys?" I echoed my twin.
" Yes, but it's too much to ask of you, my little girls." She said, hugging us.
" What is it? We can do it!" Rosie said after she recovered.
" Yeah, we are not little girls anymore, we are big girls, and tomorrow we'll be bigger!" I shouted.
My dad had a small smile on his face, and he said, " Becky, they are trying to take your sister away. Now you know that your sister is always so sick and she can't even go outside. Now imagine if she were to be forced to go outside."
" That would be bad." I sad with a tiny frown on my face, I wish I could go back and smack some sense into that gullible child.
"Yes, very bad so..." he said but paused.
" So, would you take her place, my baby?" My mother completed my father's sentence. I looked at them with great shock with my big brown eyes almost popping out of my eye sockets.
" Me? Mama, Papa, how can I do that?" I asked in a childish voice.
" Can't we call the police on the bad guys?" I then offered a solution.
My mom shook her head and cried more while my dad explained things to us, " No, Becky. I'm afraid the police can't help us."
" Then what should we do? I don't want Becky to go either." My sister said
" There's not much we can do, little Rosie. One of you has to go." He said.
Rosie stayed by my side silent, and i could tell that she was pondering a lot when she suddenly said, " T-then I'll go."
This stirred the hearts of many in the room. The elders and the other pack members cooed at how cute and brave she was while I was the selfish little b***h who did not want to help her parents. I should have stayed that little b***h because the next thing that came out of my mouth sealed my freedom away.
" N-no, I'll go. Rosie, you are always sick, you should not go out too much, it's bad for you. Stay in the house and heal up. I'll take her place and since we are twins no one will know. After you are better you can come, okay?" I said with a smile thinking that I had solved the problem.
I felt like a genius. It would be like swapping twins out when no one was looking, I was so dumb.
" B-but..."
" No, buts Rosie. You'll come after you are better. Is that okay, Mama and Papa?" I asked foolishly.
" That's great, my girl. Rosie will come after she gets better." They said. They lied.
They knew that once I entered that pack house as a slave, there was no coming back out unless we were released by that pack. But they didn't tell me, no one did, not even people I trusted from the Pack. Everyone in the room looked at me with smiles as I acted like a brave little girl and signed my freedom away.
But now, I know the truth.
