" Getty!" Mia suddenly shouts and I can hear the chaos that is happening in the kitchen. I rush out of the changing room to see what's going on. As soon as I enter the kitchen again, a strong smell of blood hits me. I frown and rush to the girls. " What's going on?" I ask as soon as I get closer to them. When I see Getty's face my heart sinks to the floor. Her right eye is blue and black and her lip is ripped. That's not the horrific part, the horrific part is the claws marks all over her face. It was worse than being scratched by a cat, the wounds were deep and blood was overflowing from them faster than we could make her stop bleeding. " She's bleeding a lot." Kayla said " Get more clothes, can't we apply pressure?" Mia said to me and I rushed to the changing room and grabbed a heap of clothes. " We need the Pack healer for this." Kayla said frowning. But we all knew the truth, who would allow the pack healer to heal a slave? What a joke, no one would. " Getty, what happened?" I asked, she looks terrible. She tries to open her mouth but winces because it's ripped, and i instantly feel guilty for asking her a question. She tries again and this time she's able to say something, " H-how bad is it? m-my face? w-will I have scars all over?" She asks as she tears up, her condition makes all of sad, and we are afraid to tell her the truth. It's worse than bad, and if a pack healer doesn't work on her, she will have to leave with bad scars for the rest of her life. "C-come, you can tell me, I can take it." She adds when none of us are willing to answer. I look at her and say, " it's really bad. Kay is right, we need a healer." She nods like she already knew this and cries. " All I did was to place the plate before her and she got pissed for some reason and went berserk on me. What did I do to deserve this?" " Don't cry, Getty. We will find a way to fix this." Mia encourages but we know that that will be impossible, how can 4 mere slaves find a way to salvage such a situation? I feel even more guilty knowing that Getty volunteered to help me and now she is in such a sorry state, I don't know what to say to her. And before I can come up with something, a guard warrior comes into the kitchen. " Rebecca our Luna is looking for you. She asked for the caramel tea you made the last time." he says completely ignoring Getty's sorry sobs. did these people really not have a heart or had they lent them to other people? Was the space in their chests vacant? I nod amto acknowledge his command and he turns and leaves. I linger around Getty a while longer but she holds my hand and says, " Go, they have asked for you." I frown but I still get up, finding a new apron I get busy with brewing the tea. After a while, I'm done and I pick up a tray to take it to the Luna. When I get there, most of the other people are gone and it's only the Luna and her family. I wait on the side with the tray for them to acknowledge me before I can get closer to them. " Ah, Rebecca, come on in." the Luna says with a smile. I nod and move forward. I put the tea on their table, and bow again. I want to ask about Getty's situation to see if we can't get the healer but I'm too scared to ask, so I make my way to the exit. " Rebecca, wait." When the Luna calls me, my heart flutters thinking that she'll offer help. " Yes, ma'am?" I reply, we are not allowed to call her Luna because she's not our Luba and we are not worthy. She smiles and says, " Happy Birthday." Shocked, and disappointed, I smile back and say, " Thank you." i thought she was going to talk about Getty. But how did she know about my birthday? The only people who know are Ryan and Kayla. Did he tell her? " Oh, by the way, did Ryan wish you a happy birthday?" She asks I can't openly look at him so I peek at Ryan, he stiffens at his mother's question so I smile and say, " Yes, ma'am." The Luna smiles and says, " Oh, good. You can go back let me not hold you up any longer." I smile, bow and get out of the room. What was that about? He can't even meet my eye. When I peeked at him earlier, I was hoping he would look at me with the same smile he used to have when looking at me. Things really have changed. But I don't have time to worry about that, the more pressing issue is to find a way to heal Getty's face.
