1.The Heist

"Come on we gotta flee!" I hissed gathering the stuff in the bag.

"Okay okay, almost done!" Stupid Nick muttered god knows from where. He is gonna get us caught!

"For god’ sake Nick, you had to pee now?" I was getting hella pissed at that piece of s**t. He knew we were gonna rob the bank at night and now of all times when the alarm will go off the a*s had to pee.

"Shut up Ava! You are making me nervous and that will slow the process.." He whisper-yelled from the bathroom that I don't know where but due to our supernatural hearing because of our werewolves genes I heard him anyway. "..let me concentrate now." Concentrate my a*s!

I rolled my eyes at that piece of s**t as my phone vibrated in my back pocket.

I looked at the screen to find Teddy bear calling me.

"Yeah Teddy?" I answered, my fingers slipping through my dark waves. I was getting anxious by the minute, especially with Teddy’s call.

"I can't hold the alarm anymore! This bank is secure as s**t, you gotta get out of here now!" His panicked voice blared through the phone muttering all of that in one breath. "Snap! I lost it! They are on the way, you have to get out of here now!"

Oh s**t!

I hung up the phone throwing it In my pocket again and ran to get that a*s, following his humming. My heart was pounding from the thrill of getting caught. We never get caught but who knows when our luck was going to run out.

"They are coming!" I pulled him from the back of his shirt at the neck.

"Wait wait! I am not done yet! Ava its flowing hold on." Okay, Ew! I told him not to drink a damn soda before the mission and that's what happens when you don't do what Ava says.

"There is no damn time! Compose yourself freak." We were running to the main door while I was still dragging him with me from his shirt when I heard him zip his pants. He hasn't zipped it till now? Again Ew!

And is he still running backward?

‘You are dragging him from his back what do you think smart a*s?’ My wolf Lina like always commented sarcastically. I swear we are never on the same page.

‘Not now, Lina!’ 

"Damn!" The main door was made of glass so as soon as we arrived I saw many police cars parking in front of it. "Let's check the back one for the workers!"

We turned around and ran to the door assigned to the workers as Ted instructed me before we begin the mission.

For our bad luck, this door isn't locked by the internet, technology and that stuff, nope! It had a damn lock on it so I did what I am best at in situations like this.

"You got it?" Nick asked from beside me. He knows I got it, I am always prepared.

"You know I do Nicky." I never leave for a mission without my ax. It is not that large so I can easily carry in my backpack. It's like my baby.

I got it out and broke the lock with it opening the door so we could run to where Ted is waiting for us in the car.

As we were running a voice made us stumble, "They are here, sir!" Damn you, police officer!

He looks like a newbie you can take him down easily.

Oh Lina, I am touched that you said nice words to me for once.

Not the time b***h!

Ughh..Why did I even try? Me and my wolf are rarely on the same page. As we were running that newbie started shooting at us. Bullets that were covered in wolfsbane, it’s like he wants us to die! "Stop now you criminals!" Duh, Obviously he does. “Rogues.” He snarled at us once he sniffed our smell.

"You gonna deal with him or I do?" Nick asked while running beside me. Even if he is taller than me but I am a hella fast runner so he can never pass me even when we are using our werewolves’ speed. However, when he uses his wolf’s speed and the supernatural gift, he becomes something unstoppable that from his mega speed you can never catch a glimpse of him.

"Why the hurry Nicky? Let us have some fun with that newbie."

"Oh yeah, I am so down for that." And, Ladies and gentlemen That's why he has been my partner in crime for three years. Actually, it's more than that, but I lost count.

As on cue, Nick bolted with his super speed in a flash. “Hey! Don’t use your gift too!” the officer yelled from behind me as if Nick would hear him when he is far away by now. Suddenly, out of nowhere a huge rock from the ground was magically lifted and was aiming to make me fall on my face, however I am way past these kinds of tricks, I have been on the run and doing all kinds of illegal s**t for three years now, so it was a piece of cake kind of an obstacle. As the huge rock was flying towards me, I ducked and slipped on the ground from under it. Darn it!  I looked down scowling at My new stolen jeans that are now dirty! “Damnit!” the newbie yelled then another huge rock was ready to get thrown at me. Looks like our newbie’s gift is controlling the rocks and mountains. What was it called? Ahh, the Earth powers! Super annoying and tough gift but not for me. I have been through much and met by all kinds of gifts by now in this realm, so I can manage saving my butt once again.

It was my turn to play now. With an evil smirk, I abruptly stopped running and stood my ground watching the newbie running towards me with determined eyes. I took a whiff of his smell and realized from what pack he is. In this city there are four packs, living in harmony while sharing the police department duties, malls, restuarts, etc… Each pack had its own alpha and beta with it’s territory but they all still work together just like the human realm. Even the police department is a combination of the four packs. The age of isolation and rivalry of each pack is far gone when the witches separated the creatures around the world and put each kind in its own realm. Now having a realm only for werewolves, had our kind feel so much safer that our only threat nowadays would be some angry rogues. Not that I am from the angry rogues, nor I am really from the peaceful rogues. I am a bit of both.

‘Watch out, AVa!’ My wolf Lina, alerted me and I noticed that the police officer wasn’t too far and I had to hurry but I was definitely up for a challenge. With my eyes locked with his furious ones, ignoring the nearing sirens, blocking each and every sound from around me I started to finally dig my way through his mind. He was aiming his g*n at me when suddenly he froze in his place. I did it! His eyes the only thing that he had control over them were moving nervously around. I can literally read his panicked thoughts which made me chuckle.

What is happening to me? He wondered in his head, clueless of my presence in his mind. Why can’t I move?

Because I used my gift on you. I replied to him in his mind and his eyes widened with fear.

Y-you are a m-mind reader and controller? He stuttered. 

Bingo! I winked at him and noticed him gulp nervously. “And now we will have so much fun, my dear officer.” with a grin I said and was ready to play with my doll for the day when Nick’s voice stopped me.

“Missed me?” he was here with a plastic bag now, probably filled with our toys that we would decorate our newbie with.

“Nope,” I popped the ‘p’. “I was just going to start and play, care to join?”

“Gladly!” He replied and went to where the officer was standing. “I managed to cause some trouble with the police’s cars, but we have limited time.”

“Works for me,” I shrugged. “Okay, my doll. Drop your g*n and start undressing.” Helplessly, the newbie started doing like I ordered as I was controlling all of his senses through his mind. He was done undressing and was ready to take off his boxers as well when I stopped him. “Now, take this lovely dress from my dear friend Nicky here and put it on.” He complied and put it on. Nicky started applying lipstick and other stuff from the plastic bag, messing the poor newbie’s terrified face. He was done with his makeup when I forced the newbie to put his hands down then Nicky placed one of those large old women’s hats on his head. “Aw, doesn't he look lovely, Nicky?”

“Lovely indeed!” Nicky pinched his cheek with a mocking smirk. “You look cute, darling.”

I snapped some pictures of our captive for the day for memories and to show it to Teddy bear later. “We would have loved to stay longer and play but unfortunately we gotta flee as your colleagues are nearing, so see ya m’lady!”

“Have a nice day, m’lady.” Nicky winked at the man whose terrified eyes pooled with tears then came to me, holding me by the waist. “Ready?” he questioned as I circled my arms around his neck tightly, anticipating the rush due to his super speed. I could feel the bulkiness of his muscles due to the intense workouts he usually does.

“Always ready, Nicky,” I said with a grin as He chuckled. He knew I liked when he held me then ran with his gift which is his super-speed like the flash. Don’t take me wrong, I love my gift but his, is so much thrilling. “Bye, m’lady!” He took off with super speed and everything got blurry around us with the air hitting our faces and blowing our hairs everywhere. I couldn’t see anything clearly, everything was moving so fast, or we were the ones at high speed. It was an amazing feeling racing with time like that, especially with Nick who makes everything in my life so much better.

In no time, we were in front of our shady car where Teddy bear was behind the wheel and waiting for us. Hurriedly, we ducked inside the car and Teddy sped away with the car. Strangely, we found no cars following us, dying to catch us as always. Looks like Nicky did some good damage to their cars. 

After some time when we were away from the crowded city and out on the deserted road, Teddy asked, “What took you so long?”

Nicky looked at me from the passenger seat, our faces reflecting our mischievous smirks. “We were playing a bit.” I shrugged innocently as Teddy took a quick glance at me through the rearview mirror with narrowed eyes.

“You did it again?” he groaned while both Nicky and I smirked guiltily. “Guys! You could get caught by your childish antics! When I say hurry, you f*****g should hurry!” His chocolate brown forehead wrinkled in frustration.

“Calm down, Ted.” Nicky’s fingers slid through his golden blonde locks. “We are pros in what we do and we never get caught so why not have some fun.”

Exactly! I said to Teddy in his head.

His brown eyes narrowed at me from the rearview mirror. “Ava, stay out of my head!” I chuckle, knowing that it always frustrates him when I do that to him. “Whatever you do, guys. Just be careful cause we are highly wanted by the police.” That’s right. We do so much s**t and have been on the run for three years now, the authorities never succeeded to catch us which frustrated them and placed a bounty on our heads around the realm. In my opinion they are just embarrassed that a bunch of teenagers are always implementing all that chaos and never get caught.

“Don’t worry Teddy, we have been in this criminal industry way before you joined us.” I used the rear-view mirror to tie my hair up into a ponytail. After tying I ruffled with it a bit and smiled at the contained mess of hair. Perfect!

I noticed Teddy lifting his brows at me. “Seriously? It’s only one year apart, Ava. I joined you both two years ago.”

“Still, this year counts,” Nicky shrugged, taking the role of my best friend at its finest for years now. “We have been on the run for three years when you are only two years. Also, we are 19 and you are 18, so basically we are your seniors.”

“What kind of nonsense are you blabbering about here?” Teddy looked at Nicky ridiculously. 

“He is talking logic, Teddy,” I added.

“Why? Why am I friends with two stupid dipshits?” Teddy groaned as we chuckled at his conflict. It’s not our fault that he is the genius and hacker of our group. He can never understand how Nicky's and I’s brains are wired. He is so much smarter and responsible than us.

After some time we were parking in front of our abandoned house. We took our stuff and entered the house. We started unpacking our booty for the day and I must say we stole some good stuff today with the perfect amount of money. “Bruh! We did so well this time.” Nicky high fived me as I grinned at our success for the day. 

Teddy came to where we were sitting with some leftovers pizza and three beers. “So, we can flee from this city at dawn and head to another one?”

“Yes,” I took a slice from the pizza and bit on it. Not as good as it was yesterday, but meh It will do. “And we don’t need to steal anything for a couple of months.”

Nicky took a big gulp from his beer then said, “Hell yeah! We have enough money to spend leisurely for the upcoming months.”

“Nice,” Teddy commented then his features turned upside down.

 Nicky and I exchanged worried looks before I decided to ask. “Hey, what’s wrong?”

“It’s just my wolf.” Teddy sighed while turning his head away from us. He was going to cry and there is only one topic that always had his tears spiraling.

“He finally communicated with you?” Nicky scooted closer to where Teddy is, genuinely asking for his wolf’s welfare.

 “No… yes, I… I don’t really know.” Teddy’s head hung up down while he took off his glasses and started rubbing his eyes. “I just felt him stir in the back of my head and he was going to say something before he crawled back to this black hole.” 

“Hey, just give him some more time.” I circled my arm around his shoulder while rubbing it. “what you went through wasn’t easy no you nor your wolf.”

“But it was a year and half ago!” Nicky huffed, resulting in me glaring at him. “If it was me I would have already gotten over this tragic moment.” If it was me too, I would but this was Teddy we are talking about. He is so much more caring and loving than me and Nick. He desired what Nicky and I despise; thus when the time comes we won’t be affected as Teddy.

“Because you don’t give a s**t about your mate but I did!” Teddy snapped, while wiping his tears harshly. “And now I would never get to feel this way they all talk about when someone ungrateful like you both would get to have this magical bond. I might not even get to feel my wolf again.”

“Maybe you will get a second chance.” I shrugged trying to ease his pain when I know there is nothing can ever help that pain he is going though. I saw this very pain before that after nothing was ever the same for me. However, I am not letting Teddy destroy himself. Maybe the situations ain’t similar but the concept is one at the end of the day. And what Teddy went through should have happened to someone like me or Nicky not him.

“Yeah, man, I heard about these people who get a second-chance mate.” Nicky gulped the rest of his beer in one go. “Maybe you will be one of those.”

“If I was that lucky.” Teddy scoffed again wiping his tears. He then reached for his barely touched beer. “Anyway, I don’t want to talk about it anymore.” He then started drinking his beer while Nicky and I exchanged a look. It wasn’t the first time we had this argument with Teddy. He sadly can’t control these tantrums whenever they happen. It’s this witch doing, at this tragic moment when she altered everything for him upon this b***h’s demand.

As always Nicky and I respected his wishes and went back to our eating while having some drinks. Talked or did anything from our silly activities when we decided that it’s time for packing. So, we packed and gathered what food or beers left to have with us on the road and soon enough we were done and stuffing everything in the car.

“We took everything?” Teddy asked as we started recalling whether we left anything or not when we started hearing car engines and wheels hitting the road as they sped. It looks like there is a bunch of cars approaching. There is nothing around us except forest, so whoever is coming, it is for us. True to my thoughts I felt someone invade my mind and I knew exactly who was that. 

You can’t run anymore, Ava. I know this voice. It’s the same that has been hunting me and Nicky since we ran away. You are outnumbered, so I advise you to surrender without any complications. 

Never in hell, Commander Stephy! I replied back to him through our mind link. He is a mind reader like me, but of course, he isn’t as cool as me so he can’t control minds as well. He can read and send messages only or look in the past memories. Let the games begin!

I blocked him by building my mental barrier so he can’t invade my mind again then warned the guys who had concerned looks. “We gotta run, Commander Stephy found us and he has huge back up this time.”

We got in the car and Nicky took the driver seat as his fast reflexes would be useful now. “Doesn’t this old man ever give up?” Nicky whined as he sped away with the car. Some cars started appearing from behind us. “He has been trailing us for three years now!”

“He is like a damn gum,” I commented as I started filling up our guns. “It sticks for life.” My eyes lifting each now ad then to count the cars and plot a plan in my head.

“This commander Stephan is so out of it,” Teddy muttered as he got on his knees on the passenger seat with him facing backward and I am doing the same from the backseat. “Open the roof, Nick.” At his command, I took a deep breath and steadied myself for the fight. Here it goes.

Opening the roof, our hair started blowing everywhere around us as the fuckers started firing bullets at us. We immediately started firing right back while using our gifts each now and then. There was a brave car of the many ones which came right beside us, challenging us to continue. They collided with us couple of times, resulting in us losing our balance and Teddy almost falling off the car but Nicky managed to catch him by the ankle. “Ted, Bolt them up with your electricity.” Teddy nodded upon Nicky’s request and using his electricity powers, he waved his fingers towards the enemies’ car and bolts of glowing electricity started shooting out of his hands, resulting in the two fuckers in the car to vibrate and fire from the high voltage, losing their balance in the car which soon caught on fire. As we celebrated with our tiny victory our car started swerving insanely on the road with Nicky trying to balance it. “ they blew up a tire.” Nicky yelled as Teddy and I clutched our seats hardly trying not to fall off the car. 

I looked beside me between all this chaos when I found fire coming out from the side of the car. “They threw balls of fire at us and one of them hit the tire,” I yelled to them just realizing that it wasn’t a simple bullet who messed up the tire. “We have to jump off!” they nodded and I held the money bag then jumped together, rolling on the ground and hitting all kinds of s**t as the car collided with a tree and exploded. This s**t will take some time to heal even with our super healing associated with the werewolves’ genes I am sure of it. From where I managed to fall, I noticed Teddy and Nicky each on the side of the road, groaning in pain from the fall. I was crawling to Teddy who was the nearest as I felt a really sharp pain in my stomach and arms. “T-Teddy…” I stuttered not bearing the pain but I have to. He looked at me and I found a trail of blood flooding down his face. 

“A-Ava I-I feel dizzy,” I neared him as his eyes were trying to stay close. 

“Freeze!” I looked up to see six men surrounding Nicky. He looked at us and I sent him a message in his head.

Run! I ordered him. Run and we will follow you!

No! we will stick together as we promised Av! He said harshly, not liking what I told him to do. You are my family, and we have been stuck together for seven years, so I won’t be leaving you now!

I was going to argue when a man hit him in the leg by his g*n. “Move to the van!” He will hurt him!

I will run to you and take you both to flee but you have gotta hold tightly. He decided and I shook my head at him as tears stung my eyes. I feel trapped and defeated. It won’t work. Even if he turned to his wolf form, he clearly was badly injured to carry two people. He ignored me and as he was going to bolt as decided he stopped abruptly with his mouth open and wide eyes locking with mine.

“No! No! Nicky!” I screamed at the top of my lungs, the tears I tried to keep at bay now falling. He was my everything, I can’t lose him. The mere thought of it had my heart literally hurt. They did something to him, I can feel his pain through his thoughts. He fell on the ground, his knees colliding with the hard floor first then his body followed. Some men came and took his body and I just lost it. “No! stay away from him!” I yelled at them while crawling to where his body is my legs not helping me to stand on them. As I was going to control their senses I found other men taking Teddy’s unconscious body off the ground. “No! leave him alone!” I yelled as I invaded some of the captors' senses and they started yelling in pain clutching their heads with their hands. It was overwhelming. I am losing them both. I am losing everything at the same f*****g time. “Keep your filthy hands off them!” I was going to fry their heads and I felt it as some of the men already fell on the ground when out of nowhere I felt a sharp pain in the side of my neck. Something stung me which stopped my powers from working and my vision got blurred. I couldn’t even feel my wolf anymore when I tried to change into my wolf form. “N-no w-what is happening?” I mumbled as my body couldn’t hold itself together anymore and collided on the ground with a thud. Through my blurry vision, I found my two friends’ bodies being lifted and taken as a tear slid down my cheek while whimpering. “G-give them b-back!” a figure came in front of me, blocking my view away from my two men, I lifted my eyes slowly from his legs to finally be met with his mocking eyes. “Y-you bastard…” f*****g commander Stephy!

“I told you, Ava, to simply surrender,” He kneeled down for me as I struggled to keep my eyes open. “But as usual you being stubborn, so bear the consequences.” Then with a sick smirk, he said, “Sweet dreams, Ava. I will see you soon.” My eyes were too heavy to keep them open but I have to stay awake. Nicky and Teddy, they need help. They took them. I have to save them.

“Son of a bi—“ I didn’t manage to continue my sentence as everything went black and my eyes shut unwillingly.
