Third-person narrative. Kylie hissed as the needle plunged into her skin. The air in the lab smelled like sterile equipment and bleach. Everything was spotless and it was quiet enough that she could hear the ticking of the wall clock. It sounded like it was coming from inside her head. Tick-tock Tick-tock. It kept ringing in her head and she wished it would just stop. She watched the syringe in Chris's hand get filled with blood and he cleaned up the draw spot with antiseptic.
