Trey felt an immediate sense of relief at how friendly Marty’s father seemed to be. I hope it’s not an act, but it doesn’t feel like one. When he and Marty entered the living room, a pleasingly plump, middle-aged woman jumped to her feet, crossing the room to wrap Marty in a tight embrace as she said, “Merry Christmas!” She released him, turning to Trey. “That goes for you, too.
