Chapter FourWhen Trina was back at the Comtesse’s Château, she decided that she would go straight to bed.
As she passed the salon, she could hear the voices of her mother and the Comte and felt certain that they did not want to be interrupted.
When she was undressing, it struck her again that it was really very strange that the Comte had not mentioned that the Marquis was at the Château.
They had obviously met and talked together and it would have been natural for him to have informed them about his presence when he returned to the Château for dinner.
Then on thinking it over, she decided that the reason he had not done so was that he was well aware that the Marquis with his cynical slightly sceptical attitude towards everything would frighten Susi.
