Chapter 7

The next morning I woke extra early to make my invitations. I didn't know everyones names at the school except for Rome's but that wouldn't stop me from making my invitations. I'll just put the basic details and hand them out to everyone at the school, then I could make some cool flyers as well. Maybe I could also have a little sleep over with a few female school mates, then I realized I didn't have any females I would actually want to invite. Maybe those four girls in the Lioness pack could sleep over. Then again they punked me on my first day. But maybe just maybe we could become friends or something. It'd be nice to have friends. I've never had one of those before unless you count Nessie. After I had all my invitations made and my sleep over invitations I packed them in my bag and headed to go get ready for school. I wondered what I would wear after I came out of the shower. The moment I opened my closet I noticed a few things were different. My favorite yellow parka was gone meaning only one thing. Alice had restocked my closet again. The only outfit she kept was the outfit I wore on my first day which belonged to my mother Rosalie. I spent the next 15 minutes looking for a outfit worthy of stealing the floor and making an impression while I was handing out my invitations. After I was dressed I stood looking at my reflection in my floor length wall mirror. I looked elegant in my cream colored strapless dress that fell losely at my knees. I had matching flats what were a off brown color and a hair band in my hair that hung in waves at my shoulders. As a lasting addition to my outfit I put on the necklace that my mother was wearing the day Rosalie found her. My necklace was a single diamond that hung on a gold chain. The value was off the wall for this one piece of jewelry but the sentimental value was more than any amount of money. It was an heirloom that was supposed to be passed to her first daughter the day she was born. That turned out to be me. I put on a gentle pink shade of lipgloss and some perfume Rosalie had made that smelled like vanilla and pumpkin and headed downstairs. My father was waiting for me but I remembered what Rome had said to me about a ride to school and turned the ride down. I was unsure if he left yet but if I ran fast enough I could probably catch him before he left if he hadn't already. I kissed my parents goodbye and headed out of the house where I raced across the path that ran along the lake. I smiled as the wind blew back my hair and caused my hair to whip around in the air. As I neared his house I came to a slower human like jog and listened as best as I could. In the house was a bit of shuffling so he was definitely still there. I picked up my pace a bit and then stopped on the side of his house and walked to the front door where I knocked. In less than 10 seconds he opened the door. "Hey Juliet." He smiled as he saw me. I watched his eyes flicker once over my body before he looked into my eyes. I smiled back and then I heard his heart stutter a bit. I couldn't help but laugh a bit to myself. "I am almost done getting ready if you need a ride. Just come on in." He said as he held stepped back and allowed me to come in. As I entered the house I looked around. It was clean, and fancy like. It was clear that someone of medium wealth use to live here. The only question was how long ago. Nothing in the house was of this century. As a matter of fact it looked like it came from the baroque era. If I wasn't mistaken the baroque era was from the 1600s through the 1750s. Maybe this home was passed down through several generations. Still then that would be atleast 20 generations which didn't seem impossible but rare when it came to keeping a property as old as this in the pristen condition it was now. The outside of the house was just as good in condition as the inside. Both rich in its architecture. "You can go and sit down if you'd like I nead to finish a little research I'm doing. It will just be a minute." He said before he disappeared into a side room. I stared after him and watched the door even after it was closed before I took a seat on the sofa. Sitting there on a table was a book, its pages looked old and worn. I carefully picked it up between my strong slender fingers and looked at the title. It read 'Romeo and Juliet'. I scrunched up my face and flipped through a few pages. Before I could get a jist of what it was about the door opened and out walked Romeo.... Rome with his book bag over his shoulder and his gym bag in his hands. He stopped as I set down the book and stood to my feet and then looked around the room. "You didn't bring your gear? You know we have practice after school right?" He said as he continued on across the room to my side. "Really?" I asked. He nodded his head. Rome took me back to my house so I could get my gear which was now being held in a Chanel gym bag. Alice. Then again I couldn't complain, her gifts, though unexpected were always useful and nice. After we were both ready we were on our way to Forks High. Before we got out of the truck Rome touched my shoulder. His unexpected gesture caused my breath to catch as I turned to look at him. He smiled. Why did he always smile when he looked at me? "Yes?" I asked a little bit impatient. I wanted to get atleast some of my invitations handed out before class. His eyes glanced away for a moment as he seemed to be thinking deeply about his choice of words, or just maybe trying to bring back his train of though. When he looked back at me his expression was different, softer, gentler. He took a deep breath and then spoke. "You look nice today." I nodded my head and then smiled widely when I realized I had yet to give him his invitation. I quickly reached into my bag and grabbed one before I gave it to him. "My 16 birthday is right around the corner and my parents want me to have a 'sweet 16'" I said using air quotes. "You are one of the few I actually wanted to invite but my mother says I have to be nice and invite everyone." He smiled as he read it quickly. "16 years old." He repeated. "So you said you have invitations for everyone?" I nodded my head. "Well than lets get to handing them out. " He said as he opened the door and grabbed his back pack and his gym bag. I grabbed my things and we headed into the cafeteria where we met up with the members of the football team. Rome talked them them while I stood a few feet behind them. The moment they were done they lifted me off my feet and set me on the table behind them. "LISTEN UP LIONS!" The line backer who was crazy big and buff shouted. His voice boomed and made me jump a bit. Everyone in the cafeteria went silent and looked up at us. At me. "Our lovely team member Juliet is having her sweet 16 within the next week and you are all lucky enough to be invited!" He boomed again. Everyone in the cafeteria began cheering and clapping. They even resorted to banging and pounding on the tables. I took that as the signal to get out the cards but before my fellow line backer could stray too far away I grabbed him and whispered something in his ear. "Lioness' front and center now!" He boomed Quicker than he could call them they were standing before us. "I pulled out the sleep over invitations and handed them to them." They looked at them then back to me. Lizzie spoke. "Why would you invite us after what we did to you?" she asked. I shrugged my shoulders. "My aunt Alice thought it would be a good idea. In her words she said 'sometimes your worst enemies turn out to be your closest friends'." Lizzie smiled. "I was sincere about my apology." she whispered. "I truly am sorry." I nodded my head and gave a genuine smile before I handed them each a regular invitation as well. After they got their's and cleared the floor everyone else began gathering. I handed the football team each a large batch of invitations so they could help me pass them out more quickly. Five minutes before class started we were finally done. I handed the final invitations out to the football team and then we all went our seperate way. Rome walked me to class and we chatted on the way. He wanted to know what kind of things I liked because he wanted to get me a good present. I in turn told him I didn't want anything and that his friendship was good enough. As we came to the door of my classroom I said goodbye to Rome and entered my P.E. class. I went straight to the locker room and dressed down before I headed out to the bleachers where the class was sitting. The moment I sat down someone sat down before me. I looked up expecting someone else but I saw Rome. "What are you doing here?" I asked. "I am in this class of course. I was helping the Football coach figure things out." He replied with a large grin. "What classes do you have?" I asked him. He laughed as if he was pleased with the question. "I have the same as yours. I'm AP all the way sweetheart." He winked at me. Impossible. I would have seen him in my classes. Then again I realized I sat in the front for a reason. I didn't want to see anyone else. "I normally like to sit in the back." He smiled. The gym teacher walked in and announced we were playing volleyball. Everyone was assigned a number, either one or two. One's were on one team and two's were the other. Lucky for my team they got both me and Rome. He turned out to be very sporty. He moved quickly and caught alot of the balls right before they hit the ground. In the end our team won. 51 to 0. Next class was AP Calculus. This time around I sat in the front with Lizzie on my right and Rome on my left. I didn't bother to pay attention instead I day dreamed about my Sweet 16. What would it be like? What would happen? Who was going to show up?
