Chapter 7 “Would you like some lemonade? Homemade,” offered Pearl. Chad removed his Stetson as he ascended the steps and slipped into the welcoming shade of the porch. “That sounds mighty delicious, thank you.” He joined Pearl, settling in a nearby chair. She poured the yellow liquid into a glass, already containing ice, then handed it to him. With a subtle nod of his head, Chad took the glass and downed most of it in one gulp. He’d forgotten how back breaking ranch work could be, having strayed away from the lifestyle, much to the chagrin of his father.
