Chapter 3 The wheels turned and slid onto sandy surface, leaving the hard and hot asphalt of the highway. Parker maneuvered the car to a gas station to make a phone call. Declan could only watch how tight lipped Parker was. No more words were exchanged between them. Parker’s arms tensed as he gripped the steering wheel. Declan tried to ignore them.
