Kael roughly yanked me over and pushed me into a dimly lit corner, far from the staircase. Our eyes locked and his strong hold around my waist remained. I mustered the courage to break away from his embrace, and with a firm push, he finally released me.
His voice boomed as he scolded me for wearing heels, his eyes filled with anger.
"What were you thinking, putting yourself in danger like that?" Kael exclaimed, his voice full of anger and concern. "You could have put the baby in danger!"
