I was done my homework at eleven and since my dad wasn't here to watch TV with me, I was seriously bored. So I made my way to bed, but then my cellphone started to ring.
I ran back to the living room to get it from my bag, and when I found it, I saw that Gale was calling.
I picked up after a hesitation. “Hello?”
“I thought I told you to call me?”
I felt my cheeks heat up. “Sorry… I forgot.”
He sighed. “That’s so like you.” He said a little rudely, but then he calmed down. “Is your dad awake?”
“Actually, he’s out on another shift… apparently there’s some big fire.”
“Oh.” He paused. “You’re alone?”
“Yup.”
