After the weird incident Edith heard during training, she decided to go to town to check her favorite bookshop. over the years she has become the most popular customer of the shop owners.
"Buenas dias señora" Edith greets the shopkeeper who owns the shop. It was an old lady with salt and pepper hair. Her face is still smooth and unblemished. Only her hairs give her the older vibe. She has a small eye much like a line of the opening so when you look at her you would think she is asleep.
"Buenas dias niña. What are you looking for today?" Juana asked.
"Do you have any books on superstitions? I wanted to read about those." She asked the old lady.
"Oh dear, have you gotten yourself in trouble with something? I know we have a couple of those in the back here. People aren't interested in reading these topics." She was guiding me to the most secluded part of the shop where books are collecting dust from years of storage. There were cobwebs and spiders in the bookshelves. We just brushed them off the side never killing any.
"I was just curious. I read somewhere that there are a lot of different creatures living on this island." She explains.
"Be careful niña, you might get yourself in trouble with that curiosity of yours. Btw, how is your sister doing? She came here last week to buy a few books for her niño." She was trying to get the conversation going as we are already in a very dark room. If they stop talking, they might get separated. The bookshelves look the same. She has never seen this part of the shop before. It seems that the shop has expanded from the outside it looks small.
"Let's see, superstitions... Ah, here it is. An original copy of the ten books was handwritten by a scholar from the parish. This was written 50 years ago." She took the hard-bound book from the shelf. True to her word everything from the cover to the pages has been handwritten. It seems the pages are about to fall off any second as well.
"How much for this book señora?" Edith inquires the shopkeeper.
"1 cent dear. I am glad to give that to you but you that this shop needs to have some sales to keep its doors open." She smiles at her. They started to go back to the front of the shop. It seems they came back faster than when they came in.
"Here you go señora. Thank you for helping me look for this book." She gives her the book to be wrapped and the p*****t.
"You are welcome niña. Have a safe journey going home. And don't ever look back when you hear your name." She gave me the book and warned me. She was very unusual today.
She shrugs off the weird feeling she has been having since early morning.
She had a lot of time left before it was lunch, so she tried to walk towards the plaza for a quick morning walk.
"Hey, watch where you are going!" She yells. "I apologize for my behavior, my lady." The guy then bows down.
"Mine!" Her wolf shouts. She gave a confused look at the guy in front of her.
He was the same height as she is. He looks tanned and his body was slender. Thin enough for her liking but you can tell it was all muscle underneath his clothes.
"Who are you? Why are you calling me my lady?" She was confused. Was this guy for real. He talks like he is an old man, but his face looks like a teenager.
"My apologies. Where are my manners? My name is Patricio. And you are?" He held out his hand for her to shake.
"I am Edith." Edith then grabs his hands to shake. She had a smile on her face like she saw something more than meets the eye from this guy.
"Lady Edith. It is nice to meet you." He smiled at her. She was drowned in his green eyes. She never saw anyone with that kind of eye color. Like a forest moss so dark and welcoming.
As she was about to let go of his hand she was pulled back by a sticky piece of slime in between their hands. "What is this? Let me go." She panicked and tried to pull her hands with full force.
"Stay calm my lady. It will stick some more if you try to pull with force." He explains.
"Why do you have this in your hand? Let me go this instant." She was sweating and was nervous. Another minute and she won't be able to resist kissing her Patricio.
'Wait, what my Patricio???? Where did that come from!?' She thought to herself.
"Wait, calm down I have a solution for this." He then starts to kiss the back of her hand and after that her hands were free.
"What just happened?" She was astonished by his act and was feeling elated from his kiss. He had a very soft lip.
"It was magic, my lady. Something special, just for you. Would you like to go out with me for some snacks?" He was bold. She thought. Wait for snacks, they just met, and he is already asking her for snacks.
"I am sorry, but I have to go home now. It is almost noon. I need to be home before that. Maybe the next time we meet?" She told him.
"Sure, my lady. May I know where you live? I want to accompany you. Such beauty should not be going home alone." He said. She blushed at his statement. He was speaking in a very different way like that of her grandpa. Unlike her friends who are loud and don't use the term, my lady.
"I am not alone. I have my kalesa and kutsero to accompany me." Edith explains. "I will tell you where I live the next time, we see each other. For now, I bid you goodbye señor." She excused herself and turned her back. She immediately walked towards her kalesa. Her heart was racing like a horse in a field.
Patricio just stood there watching her go. 'My destiny she is finally here.'
