“That is easy,” Gloria said. “I was the only relative of Queen Victoria’s left unmarried.”
“‘The Matchmaker of Europe’,” the Prince said. “I have heard her called that in every country.”
“The Foreign Secretary told me that there were no less than twenty-three of her blood on Royal Thrones and, although I am only half-Royal because of my Mama, I have to obey the Queen’s orders, which are to marry you and help your country.”
The Prince made no comment and after a moment Gloria then asked,
“Are things really as bad as they have been ‒ made out to be? Are the Russians really making serious trouble ‒ in your country?”
really“Of course they are,” the Prince answered. “I have warned my father for at least three years now of what they were doing and plotting.”
